This is your launching pad to see the city! It is a vintage apartment with your own private entrance and space. It is within walking distance of a large selection of restaurants, bars and cafes. With a bicycle, cab, Uber/Lyft, bus or EL train you can be downtown in minutes. In close proximity to many of Chicago's great locations such as Wrigley Field, The United Center, White Sox Park, etc... Located in the Ukrainian Village it is a safe, welcoming neighborhood with plenty of history.
Like many places in Chicago it has some 100year old unique characters. This is a garden unit as we call it in Chicago which means its a couple steps down below outside grade. There are also plenty of modern details though like fast and reliable wi-fi connection and charging ports for phones/electronics. There is a office with a office desk/chair to work on. The bedroom has a queen sized bed with a dresser and closet. I provide two suit case stands. It has a large TV with Amazon Prime, Netflix and locals stations to watch. I provide some guide book information about the city. We put together a guide book of walk-able neighborhood suggestions. If you are long term traveling you have access to free washer and dryer. Please be aware that you may need to duck slightly in some isolated spots especially if you are above my height of 5'-10". I have no issues at my height but I do have to duck a little to get in the main door.

Very nice place and host! We had a last minute booking due to a previous host cancellation and this host was very responsive and welcoming! Overall very clean and had all necessary accommodations with an easy check in and parking passes included! Would stay again :)
This host has done a wonderful job making this space a cozy and clean place. There was useful information provided for an easy stay. Interactions with the host were timely and no problem. However for a person like me, that drags a touch of claustrophobia through life, the experience of being in this (basement) space for too long became difficult. My problem; not the host or their space.
The apartment was equipped with all the amenities. Check in and communication with the owner was easy and prompt. Even during a heat wave we were comfortable. We would stay again!
A great smaller option for staying in the Ukrainian village. The neighborhood felt very safe and there are so many incredible food options within walking distance.
Our stay was fantastic! Jeffrey’s property was in a great location and it was a perfect place for our stay through the week. He was also wonderful and accommodating host!
This Cozy Vintage Apartment is a rustic basement apartment. It was clean and was perfect for our needs. Jeff, the property owner was very hospitable and was quick to response to questions. It's located is a safe & quiet neighborhood I would stay at this property again.
Very convenient property close to the train for getting around as well as bars and restaurants. Host was responsive and helpful. Apartment had everything we needed for a long weekend.
While the space was small, it was perfect for 2 people and had lots of extras that I don't usually find, such as napkins, tissues, a tea pot, plenty of towels and an umbrella. Would definitely stay here again!
Everything we needed and more was at this little cottage like apartments , very convenient location , quiet, cozy, clean very comfortable bed so warm for the 3- temp weather we had , we will come back in a dime thank you for your hospitality.
Great place in Ukrainian Village! Easy check-in, good communication with host, everything you'd need included. The washer and dryer were a huge plus after we got caught in the rain during our adventures in the Loop. The umbrellas provided helped immensely, but the dryer helped with the rest. :) We were so thankful for all the amenities.
Good place to stay if you're looking to spend most of your time out and about on the east side of Chicago. Good access to public transport but a bit far from attractions outside of the loop/downtown. Being a basement unit, a fair amount of noise can be heard from above but nothing extreme. Overall, good stay.
This apartment in the Ukranian Village was perfect for our visit to Chicago. The neighborhood is quiet / friendly, and we were within walking distance of public transportation. The apartment was clean, the towels were plush, and the hairdryer was top quality (a small but important detail for me). Jeff was a helpful and communicative host. Thank you for a lovely visit!
Jeff was so accommodating and made sure we had everything we needed. His instructions were clear and easy to follow, and he even wrote us a sweet welcome message upon our arrival!
The place had everything it needed to have and just had an overall nice vibe.
Good place for me to visit my son, daughter & son in law. They live an 11 minute walk away. Will definitely use place whenever I come to visit. Place was just as advertised.
Very clean and cozy basement apartment. Be mindful of the low ceilings if you’re 6’3 or taller, but other than that, everything else about our stay was great. Host was very communicative.
Jeff was an excess and handled our inexperience well! The location is in a quiet neighborhood with some walkable cafes, bars, coffee. We were visiting our son in nearby Logan Square and this reasonably priced rental worked great. Very clean, everything you would need. This is not a fancy lace but comfortable and as advertised.
We stayed here for a long weekend as a group of 3 adults. The location and price were perfect for our needs. Parking was tricky late at night but otherwise fine and we appreciated the complimentary parking passes. We wished the listing included a picture of the bathroom, particularly the shower which was small. The pullout couch was not comfortable. We made do by one person sleeping on the couch itself. The apartment was clean but dusty in some places. It had good lighting for a basement and was easy to get into. Jeff was a very attentive host.
The unit was clean and comfortable. The neighborhood is full of people who obviously love their homes and are friendly to folks walking through the area.
It was nice to have the parking permit. We used Uber when we went to Second City and were glad we didn't have to move car. Just a few suggestions:
While we didn't have need to prepare food we did want to use the refrigerator. Somehow we missed that the fridge was located just outside the unit in the laundry space. Even a small fridge/freezer, like available for dorm rooms, located in the actual unit would be better.
While the unit felt safe, perhaps there could be a lock on the door leading from the laundry area into the actual unit. We weren't sure where the second interior door led (upstairs? another unit? a closet?) and wished we could've secured our door.
It's a nice unit and a good location for our plans.

Thank you for the nice review. I'm sorry it wasn't clear that once you entered into the building you were in the apartment. The apartment includes a full refrigerator and also has a washer and dryer. The apartment is fully secured, nobody else ever goes in there and the locks leading out of the apartment are robust and strong. The locked door on the inside that you were unsure about is a tiny room/closet that houses the water heaters and plumbing. I labeled the door Mechanical Room now to clear up confusion. I also made it more clear in the instructions for entering that once you enter the building you are in your own private space. Thank you for your suggestions.
Jeff was very much on hand to help with parking information and stickers. Quickly answered questions and made a solid dinner recommendation at a nearby Ukrainian restaurant.

About the host
Hosted by Jeffrey Wernette
I have a yearning for traveling. I have backpacked & railed around parts of Europe and India. I love finding cheap tickets and randomly traveling around the country. Driving trips are fun too. I love traveling all types of places but because we live in the city the country side is much needed for relaxing.
Why they chose this property
I bought this property because I love the energy of the city and all the things large cities offer. Chicago is a great city to buy in. It is also a very good long term investment.
What makes this property unique
Its a quick cab, Uber, bike, bus or "L" train ride to 3 miles. We live in a great neighborhood with many places and activities to do. You don't need a car here and can do everything by walking or taking public transportation. It is safe here even walking at night.
