About this property

Serenity Cottage at Lake Champlain

Come and visit our sweet cottage located on Maquam Shore Road in Swanton, Vermont across the road from Lake Champlain with direct access.

Our cottage provides gorgeous views of Lake Champlain and the Adirondacks. Our spot is great for swimming, fishing, or lounging in the sun. We have provided five kayaks to enjoy the lake. It is a great area for walking and biking. Conveniently, there is a free boat launch ramp located approximately 400 feet down the road.

Our cottage comfortably sleeps five in three bedrooms. There is one king size bed, one queen and one double bed. Spacious comfortable living room and kitchen, bath with stall shower, and a lovely lakeside porch. There is a gas grill, fire pit and Adirondack chairs, town water (not a well or the lake). Bath towels and bed linens supplied.

2022 Fishing Trip
I loved the location in regards to the lake and the boating access's close by, it was perfect for me. The host was very responsive from day one, I never even got responses from other hosts when I first started trying to find a place. The property was nice and quiet and no one bothered me, that was just what I needed !!! Samson

August Fishing Trip
This property was very clean, cute and cozy. The hosts were very accommodating, friendly, and quick to respond. The kitchen was outfitted nicely and very clean. The bedrooms all very nice and comfortable. The bathroom, while very clean and comfortable, was very small, the shower quite small which wasn't clear from the advertisement. We also thought the cabin would have a bit easier access to the lake, so maybe a clearer description of that would be more helpful as well. Overall a lovely location and very comfortable.

Amazing hosts and gorgeous sunsets
Sandy was always available across the street and brought us whatever we needed very quickly. The cottage AC worked perfectly on a very hot week. We used the kayaks almost daily and enjoyed every sunset over the lake. They have done a great job maximizing their space and have plenty of seating for company. The fire pit in back is great and we ate all meals on the deck. It's a perfect vacation spot for a family.

So many things to like about this place!
We recently spent a lovely week at this cottage, and there are so many things we appreciated about it. The cottage is very clean and nicely furnished. All three beds (2 queens and a double) were comfortable and had good pillows and bedding. We really enjoyed the fire pit, and we appreciated that the owners engage the services of a professional pest control agency to cut down on mosquitos. The owners are easy to communicate with, quite friendly, but also not overbearing. They live just across from the property and the water access for this cottage brings you basically to their backyard. The five kayaks provided for renters are great, and the owners even have some spare water shoes in case you forget yours. (The rocks are no joke, definitely need water shoes.) We are sports fans so really enjoyed being able to watch live Olympics coverage since there is cable TV, and the wi fi was reliable and plenty fast. There is a window A/C unit in the living area and fans are provided for all the bedrooms. We didn't need to use the A/C much during our stay. We did turn on the small electric fireplace one morning when it felt chilly, it was nice to have that as an option. We had three cars for our group, and we appreciated that there was plenty of room to park. I can't really think of anything that we disliked about this rental, but I do think it's useful for potential guests to note the following-- this cottage may not be the best option for guests who are very tall and/or large. The bathroom is quite small, and the ceilings throughout the cottage seem sort of low. The tallest person in our family is 5'9" so we were totally fine. But I can imagine that anyone who is over 6'2 or 6'3 might not be super comfortable in the cozy shower stall. The other thing that seems important to know is that the staircase leading down to the water is quite steep. I personally would not feel comfortable having children younger than 4 or 5 climbing that staircase on their own, and it could also be a challenge for anyone with knee issues, balance issues or perhaps even a fear of heights. The stairs aren't too numerous, just steep. But there is a sturdy handrail. Again, we really did enjoy staying in this cottage and definitely wouldn't hesitate to stay again.

My husband John and I have lived in Vermont for the past 20 years. Recently we became empty nesters and moved to Lake Champlain! We have always enjoyed spending time near the water.

Why they chose this property

Ever since I was a young child in Vermont, I have always dreamed of living on Lake Champlain. I am lucky enough to own a house on the lake with a cottage.

What makes this property unique

Our location is very private. There are no neighbors on either side and nobody in back of the property. There is Lake access across the street.
