About this property

Port Sanilac Log Cabin--Incredibly Cute!

Warm, cozy, and charming 2 bedroom (plus loft), 1 bath genuine 100+ year old authentic log cabin! Sleeps 6 in beds and 2 more on a queen sofa pull-out couch.

Unplug and enjoy getting away! Just a short 3 minute walk to the fantastic Lake Huron beach. Situated off the beaten path, on a gravel road surrounded by pine trees with a grassy side yard for outdoor play. Just located 1 ½ hour drive from metro Detroit in the beautiful “Thumb”, this is the up north escape you've been looking for, minus the 4+ hour drive up I-75. Here’s your chance to unplug and enjoy. This log cabin, a throwback to simpler times but with some creature comforts, will allow you to unplug from cable and WiFi and enjoy the simpler things a vacation has to offer. No, there is no WiFi or cable TV at the cabin! Lake Huron, games, puzzles, books, toys, and much more are there to help you relax and reconnect with your family.

Situated just a short walk (5 driveways) on a gravel road to the incredible Lake Huron "Gold Coast" sandy beach and park. Walk into the front door of this 800 square foot cabin from the 9x21 foot front deck and you'll instantly feel relaxed and content with its hardwood floors, knotty pine walls, log beam ceilings and charming atmosphere. The 12 x 14 living room features 2 couches (one is a queen-sized sleeper sofa), a ceiling fan. This is an authentic log cabin and as such, there is no central heating or central air conditioning. There is a gas log fireplace that keeps this cabin warm and cozy on chilly nights; and 2 ceiling fans, several tower fans, and a window air conditioner to keep you cool in the summer.

The well-appointed kitchen features an electric cooktop, sink, beautiful custom wood cabinets, fully stocked with pots/pans, flatware, dishes, glasses; small refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker and toaster, waffle iron, crockpot, skillet, toaster oven, hand mixer, and blender. The dinette is surrounded by windows overlooking the beautiful pine trees. There are 2 bedrooms and a sleeping loft, with blankets, sheets and pillows. The main bedroom has a queen-sized bed with two night stands and a supplemental heater, just in case; the second bedroom has 2 bunk beds. The loft is accessible by a wooden ladder and has a queen-sized mattress. Because of the low head room and the ladder access, this area is perfect for adventurous kids. The sofa in the living room pulls out to a queen-sized bed. The bathroom (toilet and sink) is separate from the shower/dressing room and storage.

The log shed on the property stores stack chairs, 2 bicycles and a tandem bike (and a hand air pump in case the tires need air) , beach toys, and a wagon for your convenience to take toys to the beach, plus additional storage. A 6 x 10 deck is on the north side of the cabin, ideal for reading a book and hearing the whispering of the wind in the pine trees and waves of the mighty Lake Huron. Other amenities: 5 minute walk to Willis Market (grocery store); Port Sanilac shopping, marina, and restaurants are a short distance away; city water, ceiling fans in the living area and bedroom. There is an outdoor shower off the back porch to rinse the sand off after a day of playing at the beach or outside. The living room features a flat screen TV with Blu-ray DVD player, the main bedroom has a flat screen as well. Please note: there is no cable/satellite TV, internet/WiFi at the cabin. Cellular coverage will vary by provider.

The log cabin is an ideal get away for a couple or a family for a long weekend or a longer vacation.

***We wish you a fantastic time "unplugged" and enjoying all that the Thumb area and Lake Huron has to offer. Please be advised that for the 2025 season, we will be continuing to take additional precautions and cleaning protocols to make every effort to provide a safe environment for you and your family.*** We work very hard to keep our log cabin nice. Please respect our property and treat it as if it is your own.

Great stay

We really enjoyed staying at the cabin. It's close proximity to the Lake and downtown Port Sanilac was convenient. The cabin itself brought back many childhood memories.

Great Getaway Location on Lake Huron

The cabin was clean and had everything we needed. We loved that they had bikes, and lots of sand toys for the kids. There is 2 different beach accesses that we could go to, which was nice. Was a little warm in the loft, after a 90 degree day, because the single window A/C unit couldn’t keep up, but nothing a small fan couldn’t have helped with. And it was just fine the next night after 75 degree day. All in all, great place to stay!

Cozy little cabin

We stayed 3 nights and it was nice. The older kids loved the loft! The beach nearby was nice and the kids loved swimming and looking for rocks.

Cabin stay

The cabin was cozy and just the right size for us. We arrived on a hot day and the cabin was rather warm despite having the air conditioner in the bedroom. With a system of fans we were able to cool it off enough that it was bearable. Luckily a cool front came through and we were able to open windows. We thought we were closer to the lake but that could have been our fault for not reading more closely about the cabin. All in all we did enjoy our stay.

Perfect little cabin by the beach

Thus log cabin had all the charm of a 100+ year old cottage, and so close to the softest sand in Port Sanilac. The cabin had everything we needed and is in a great location. The kids said that they want to stay here again soon!

Beautiful and charming

We would come again because of the location and cleanliness. Lake Huron is beautiful. The cabin was perfect. Floors are slippy when wet, bathroom especially- be careful. We loved it and will book again.

Adorable cottage!

My girlfriends and I stayed here for a weekend away and we fell in love with this cabin. For us, the best part was being a 5 minute walk (not even) to Lake Huron. We absolutely loved it here and the hosts were extremely quick with communication! Thank you so much!

Wedding Visit

Great cabin. A true cabin experience just like when I was a kid spending summers on he Great Lakes. Not on the beach unfortunately but great place. Might not be for everybody but awesome fir sitting around the fire, playing board games and in our case, very near to our wedding venue. No wifi so not good if you need to work but great if you want to tune out.

Wonderful place to stay

Our family of five had a great Labor Day weekend at the log cabin. The cabin was impeccable and very very well stocked. We were very comfortable. The kids had a great time at the beach, the shed has lots of beach toys which they really enjoyed. They also loved playing in the loft. We grilled and had a campfire almost every night. We would love to return next year. This is a great place to stay!

Owners of this property were accurate and timely with communication. This log cabin is dreamy. Wish there was info on the history of this property. It was charming with it's rustic features nonetheless. Will definitely be back!

Girls' Vaca

Loved the experience even though we picked the coldest weekend. One downer, though, is that my daughter was excited to make us an overnight baked French Toast brunch and all was made and then we noticed no oven! :( Don't know if it was specifically noted with all the details but if not, might want to specifically bullet: - NO OVEN. But we made all work. Would book again.

Very cute but not located as close to the water as I thought.

The cabin was cute but not extremely clean. There was nothing to tell you that the door locks itself and that you have to have a key anytime the front door shuts otherwise you’re locked out.

Cute, quaint, cozy cabin

We enjoyed our stay! Read the welcome emails carefully, they are full of lots of important details. Cool (almost hidden) loft that the kids loved. It’s hot up there in the summer, but the fan helps. First toilet flush, you have to push the flusher down pretty hard to overcome the suction, but it works. Be sure to turn the hot water switch on as soon as you arrive as it takes awhile to heat up and work. Back bedroom nice and cool with fan. Fun games and cards to play. Kitchen area is small but well stocked. Even has a griddle and waffle maker, so bring some mix! Quirky locks on some of the doors, made me feel nervous about getting stuck in rooms. Nickie was AMAZING with communication and checked on us often via text. Beach nearby within walking distance has some nostalgic playground equipment. Overall, a great stay. Kids want to come back! Thanks Michael & Nickie!

Great Place to Stay!

This is our third consecutive year in Port Sanilac - all in different properties. The log cabin was the cleanest and quirkiest by far (both good things). This cabin isn't waterfront (and reasonably priced as a result), but only a couple minute walk from public beach access. It's also a short walk to the grocery and amenities (ice cream) in town. We stayed several days at a time without ever moving our van. Please be aware there's no A/C or WiFi - this was clearly stated up front. The cabin stayed cool even into the mid-80's, lake breezes are wonderful, and the lack of humidity is a treat. We brought a couple extra fans with us; the owners provide some too. Verizon coverage is adequate - usually two bars, and there's consistent 4G coverage. Most of our time was spent outdoors and the cabin is a perfect base for adventures. I cannot say enough good things about Port Sanilac and it's residents. I'm an avid cyclist and look forward to the outstanding riding available all over the "Thumb". The cabin owners are terrific folks and attentive to their guests. We'll definitely return.

Our Port Sanilac vacation!

From the moment we drove up to the property, we were so impressed with this very cute cabin. The kids were so excited to explore the vicinity and all were thrilled with the bunk beds and loft sleeping area! We spent our couple days at the beaches in Port Sanilac and Lexington and our evenings went by too quickly with the board games, movie nights and the outdoor fire pit where they enjoyed making some-mores! This cabin is already on our 2026 summer vacation agenda- just perfect for a great time and is great for all ages! Excellent hosts who ensured their cute cabin had all the amenities that were needed for a great holiday stay! Highly recommended!

Was a great little vacation in this cute little cabin. We enjoyed the fire pit and being close to the beach. They did provided toys for kids and bikes to ride. However all the inter tubes in the bike tires are popped except the tandem bike, so we couldn’t ride the bikes. But over all would recommend 10/10

Why they chose this property

The "sunrise coast" of Michigan has that "up north" feel and is far enough away from the metro Detroit area without the long drive and traffic of most "up north" Michigan destinations. Walk the sandy beach looking for petoskey stones and beach glass, skip stones, paddle, and swim in the blue water or go fishing. Shopping, golf, museums, farmers market, theatre, restaurants, wineries and area attractions are near by.

What makes this property unique

This genuine 100 year log cabin is well maintained and has the amenities so you can relax in comfort and enjoy the lake breezes whispering through the mature pine trees on the property. It is warm and welcoming from the moment you pull up and enter the cabin. And it's incredibly cute!!
