The Blue Rose Cottage is an oceanfront single-family house located at the mouth of Netarts Bay and Hodgdon Creek, near Oceanside and Tillamook, Oregon. The cottage overlooks the Pacific Ocean, Netarts Bay, and the Oregon Islands Wildlife Refuge. The Blue Rose is a spacious one bedroom cottage on a bluff over the beach - with lots of windows and spectacular views. You can walk from the cottage directly to the ocean beach on our private path, or lounge on our deck, which overlooks the Pacific.
The cottage has a queen size bed in a separate bedroom, and a queen size fold out couch in the living room with a very comfortable coil spring mattress, plus a smaller fold out couch and 2 sleeping pads that young children often enjoy sleeping on.
The area features some excellent restaurants, lots of wildlife, state parks, and many other different types of activities. Seals nest on sandbars offshore from the cottage, Great Blue Heron fish in the waters off our beach, Pelicans sail in the sky, and in the summer wild roses and lilies bloom in the yards. The area is known for Dungeness crabbing, fresh clams and oysters, fishing and whale watching, and is part of the Three Capes Scenic Route.
Netarts is a quiet, non-touristy village of a few hundred people. It's one of the closest beaches to Portland, Oregon (75 miles, or a 90 minute drive). There is a small grocery store a short walk from the cottage. Major services are available eight miles away in Tillamook.
We allow pets, with permission and with payment of a wear-n-tear fee. The local beaches are "pet friendly" and are almost never crowded.

Had a wonderful time and enjoyed the scenic views of the beach and sunsets. Loved not having stairs to the entrance of the cottage. Loved the path to the beach.
We greatly appreciated the fantastic view, open floor plan and direct access to the beach through a private trail. House features are well labeled and the bed is comfortable. If bringing pets again, would be happy to stay here again in the future. Great little market around the corner with everything you could need (plus Indian food).
The view was amazing! The fireworks put on by locals/visitors were right there, in your face while watching from the balcony. Couldnt have asked for a better show. The cottage has everything you need for cooking, which was fantastic. Would definitely stay there again!
We have stayed in this special area before, but this was the first time at this wonderful cottage. Fingers are crossed that it won't be long before we're able to visit it again!
Blue Rose is a really cute, cozy cottage above the beach, perfect for the two of us. The bed is very comfy, awesome water pressure, the deck view and the beach here are amazing. Beautiful spot!
We were more than pleased with our quick 2 night stay at The Blue Cottage. It was absolutely beautiful and had everything we needed. I would definitely recommend this property and if we godown to that are again, we will try to stay here again.
This little cottage is very cute! It's surrounded by flowering shrubs with an excellent view. Private stairs take you right down to the beach. We enjoyed watching the changing conditions on the bay, and watching all the birds from the deck. The bed is huge and comfy, the shower has excellent pressure. There's a convenience store/deli within walking distance that also has burgers, samosas and ice cream. The price is right for this little gem.
This was a great little cottage with an excellent view of the ocean. It was nice having the stairs down to the beach.
Very quiet. Everything was just as expected from the vrbo site.
We have loved staying at this property and the one next door for the last few years. Beautiful views and a private walkway down to the beach. I would recommend either home for families wanting to adventure in the bay (long walks on the sand, crabbing etc). Thanks for sharing your home with us as we were able to create memories that we will remember for years to come.
We enjoyed our stay here. Celebrating our 40th anniversay and visiting this area for the first time, this was conveniently located to be able to see and do all we had planned. The cottage was comfortable, well stocked with all we needed. Following the owners suggestions, we did the 3 Cape loop, and had dinners at Schooners and Rosanna's. Very relaxing weekend. Thanks!
Very pleasant stay, warm and comfortable with great bay/ocean view. (Front row seats for New Year fire works.) We would happily repeat! Only negative was the usual...trying to figure out TV operation with 2 remotes, and navigating the options.
We had a wonderful time! The cottage was just the perfect size for us and our 2 kids. They slept on the pull-out couch. Everything was clean. We LOVED the short walk down to the beach. Clammed from the beach directly in front of the house and we just had the best time. Can't wait to come back. Thanks!
They say "Never turn your back on the sea." And how could we when staying in this absolutely amazing & adorable cottage by the sea. It took our breath away & captured our souls right from the very start. Arriving during stormy weather seeing the surf crashing right up to the bay's beach just below the cottage, the lush surrounding foliage & hummingbirds making us feel that perhaps we were in some tropical paradise, the gentle swish of the low tide slowing the world down, the curious playful harbor seals popping up all around our kayaks, watching the nightly ballet of the crab & clam diggers with their headlamps slowly scanning the dark bay, the huge fiery green bolide arching down over the Cape Lookout spit & magically sizzling upon the sea, staying up all night gazing at the stunning harvest full moon tumbling overhead & hovering meditatively over the sea before burning deep orange as it silently sunk into the far horizon. Yes, we deeply LOVED the Blue Rose Cottage and hope to return very soon.
We enjoyed our stay . The views were spectacular. The stairs down to the beach were like walking through a secret fairy path. There was a local grocery within walking distance that had a little bit of everything. I would recommend stopping in Tillamook for most of your grocery needs.
The bed was comfortable. There were no shades on a couple of the windows which made it very warm in the afternoon.
Place was comfortable and view is beautiful. It was not ready when we got there at 4:30 and had to drive around for 30 minutes before cleaning was finished. Other than that, it was great.
Excellent location! The cottage has all that is needed for a short stay. My wife and I would definitely tell other about the Blue Rose Cottage.
A friendly suggestion: When sending driving directions to the cottage, a sentence like the one below could be added.
"2nd street turns into 3rd street." or "2nd street becomes 3rd street."
Thank you so much, Mr. Coates. We had a wonderful stay at the Blue Rose Cottage.
This was the perfect location for our week long stay. We were on the ocean with great views, close to Tillamook, not far from Haystack Rock and adventures north along the coast. The cottage was very clean. We appreciated the Keurig coffee maker and the coffee press. The walk/steps down to the beach was quite doable. The views from the living area and deck were great. The lighting in the bedroom was very dim and made it a challenge to find clothes/shoes. The bathroom is small with a tiny shower and a drizzle of water at the bathroom sink. With the telescope, we were able to watch wildlife and people out crabbing and clamming. Beautiful sunsets.
Cozy caib, amazing views -- a wood stove would be nice
A very cozy, well-equipped cabin in a perfect location in Netarts, at the end of a quiet street right above the water, with sweeping ocean views from the deck. The owner was extremely prompt and helpful in his communications, and even offered us early check-in without an extra fee.
The only thing we really missed was a wood stove! The power was out when we arrived due to a winter storm in the area, and we were without heat or light for over 12 hours. Needless to say, a wood stove would have helped a lot. Other than that, we have a wonderful stay!

The house was very clean - the view amazing. We will definitely revisit this place in the future. Only suggestions I can make is I wish they would get a screen door for the patio so it could be open and not let in flies. The shower was a bit tight for me at 6'0. But the bed was very comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked. The sofas are starting to show their age but still good - wish there was an ottoman.
We couldn't be happier that we rented Doug's cottage. The views are not overrated! Since that's in every review (rightfully so) I'll highlight some of the other things we loved. We have a dog that doesn't love other dogs. So, the private setting and access to the beach were perfect for us! Everything is as described so really read the details. Knowing it only had a toaster oven we planned ahead with things that fit in a toaster oven. We loved the rustic feel of the cottage. The interior wood was a real treat! It looks to be cedar walls with pine ceilings. We hope to return!

Very clean
The cabin was as clean as you can get for an older cabin. And it's great that it allows pets, but unfortunately it's not really pet friendly, on a cliff with steep steps to the shore, and no lawn. The view is very nice. Cupboards need repairs. Typically the pots and pans are very worn, which is true for most rentals. Very nice dishes. Everything needed is there. Nice furniture and comfortable bed. Good for a young couple without kids or pets. Check in is 3:00 but cleaner was still there until after 4:00, due to previous messy renters. She did a great job!

A great place to relax, watch the birds and the crabbers, harvest fresh seafood and experience the drama of the Pacific Ocean. Prime spot for whale-watching during migration season.
