About the host

Dunkerron was owned by my Mum who ran it as a guesthouse for many years. It was host to many gueats over the years, all of which went home with great memories. My Mum still gets letters from all over the world from the friends she made when she ran it. After major damage during a storm five years ago we made the decision to renovate the house so that it could once again be enjoyed. As I live in Limerick it was not an option for me to open Dunkerron as a guesthouse again so we made the decision to offer it to families and groups of friends on a self catering basis.

Why they chose this property

There is nowhere like Dunkerron. The house was built overlooking the ruins of Dunkerron castle, which was destroyed by it's occupants (the O'Sullivan Mór clan) in the mid seventeenth century to avoid its capture by Oliver Cromwell and his army. It is a unique property on 60 acres bordering Kenmare Bay. There is a lovely walk through the woodlands to the shore where the brave can swim when the tide is in. If you are lucky you might meet a deer or two on the way down. There is nowhere more peaceful to relax with friends and family than Dunkerron.

What makes this property unique

The house itself is absolutely unique with great character yet includes all modern comforts. Open log fires, a games room and and the conservatory all contribute to the ambiance of this great house and allows everybody their own bit of space.
