This cottage is ideally located between beautiful Balboa Park, the Gaslamp & Little Italy. Surrounded by historic homes, local restaurants and unique bars; this spot is the perfect home base for your San Diego experience.

You’ll get to enjoy a lovey front yard which is perfect for your 4 legged friend and is decorated with blooming Valencia orange trees and lemon trees (which you are welcome to pick and enjoy!). Right at the entrance, you`ll see a lovely kitchen table that is perfect for a gathering of friends and family! As you enter the living space, a welcoming couch area awaits you with your very own smart TV so you never miss your favorite shows!

Get ready for a spacious bedroom with fresh plush linens and private bathroom with a tub to relax after a long day of taking in the magic of San Diego! This bungalow is fully equipped with a convenient washer & dryer, a cozy kitchen and an assortment of cooking utensils.

A few blocks away, you`ll find yourself in the heart of Little Italy and can enjoy it’s assortment of fantastic restaurants and bars! From there, you`re a hop and a skip away from our beautiful marina! You don`t want to miss the Little Italy Mercato Farmers Market every Saturday which draws crowds to enjoy its wide variety of produce, gourmet food and craft products. This city truly has something for everyone and is especially kid-friendly and dog-friendly so bring them along!

Ideally located between beautiful Balboa Park & Little Italy, Bankers Hill is a local favorite. Filled with historic homes, local restaurants and bars, and just a short walk to the myriad of restaurants in Little Italy, this cottage is the perfect place for your San Diego home base.

Local favorites within walking distance include The Balboa, Wet Stone, Bankers Hill Restaurant, Cucina Urbana, Pizzicata, Ballast Point Brewery, Civico 45, Ironside & Mona Lisa.

Little Italy is a 10 minute walk just west of the 5, and offers a range of fantastic local shops and restaurants. Beautiful and historic Balboa Park is also a short walk and is a must-see San Diego destination filled with over 17 museums, several gardens, miles of hiking trails and several delicious restaurants.

Additionally, the Gaslamp Quarter is located just 1 mile south and is only a short Uber ride away. Guests can also walk 15 minutes west to San Diego Bay to enjoy a short ferry ride to Coronado Island, home to Coronado Beach, consistently rated the best beach in the country.

Getting Around:
Getting around is easy in San Diego. Public transportation is widely available with a bus stop around the corner. Uber & Lyft is available within minutes, and city-provided bicycle rental racks are located just a few blocks away. Guests can also walk to several train station & trolley stops in Little Italy including Santa Fe Depot.

You’re Better Off Elsewhere

The actual apartment looks different than the pictures shown on this listing. The airplanes that fly into San Diego Airport fly directly over this place and since the apartment is so old, it sounds like a war-zone. On average, we found that a plane flies overheard every 10-15 minutes continuously until about 12am. It is impossible to hold a conversation while a plane was flying overheard. The mattress, bedding, and pillows were so uncomfortable. They could’ve all been from a Motel 6. The bed frame was absurdly squeaky to the extent where if we even lightly tapped it, it would squeak. The apartment floors are clearly stickered on linoleum, not hardwood. It looks very cheap and there are several large cracks. The bathroom sink was clogged and unusable until we took a plunger and unclogged it ourselves to find a toothbrush and a gold cap that was clogging it. There should’ve been a stopper in the bathroom sink to prevent large objects from falling down that hole. The shower water is very harsh and doesn’t remain hot for even 10 minutes. If you are in need of WiFi during your vacation, do NOT book this place. The wifi instructions they email you do not work and neither does the wifi user and password on their xFinity router in the apartment. There is no heating or AC in the unit, just windows and a circulation system that proved to be useless. The dining room chairs were disgusting and clearly need to be replaced soon. Which could also be said for all the furniture in the apartment. Overall, we do not recommend staying here and we will not be back. It was not worth the money and even if it had been $50/night, I’m not sure we would’ve felt it was worth our money at that point.

Horrible comminication with the managers.

The managers of the property don't ever get back to you. They take your money and run. I can tell they care very little about their reputation. Also VRBO did very little to help us resolve our issue. Both crooks.

Decieving Photos

This property needs help. Not what was adveritsed at all. Dirty from Celing to floors. Never expected this from the posted photos. The cottage was not ready when we arrived at 4:00pm. We never received a rental agreement to look at and sign before we took our 5 hour drive there.. Long story . Glad we brought our own sheets. Ceiling fans were caked with greasy dust(which we had to clean before we could sleep or eat ). Kitchen counter was covered in crumbs and caked on food and we were left a filthy sponge to clean it off. The refrigerator was not cleaned out. The oven had a used disposable aluminum tray still in it. Newer tub surround but it had black mold creeping up the corners and a bunch of half used soaps left form the last residents? The toilet paper holder didn't even fit the nook it was in. No hair dryer and no cover for the tiny irioning board. A 5x8 space heater to use(56 degrees in the cottage). Simie(resident helper?)did help us when the electricity in our cottage went out. Not the way we expected to spend a few days vacation. Would not recommend this listing to anyone!

Disappointed management and property

I stayed here and had a decent experience until checkout. When I arrived at the property, there was a dirty, used towel hanging over the shower bar, 2 spiders in the bathtub and holes where the slats of the floor boards did not meet. I didn’t say anything to property management because I’m a pretty relaxed traveler and the place was on the cheap side and you get what you pay for. There was a large sign above the bathroom sink that said to not use the towels to remove makeup so I followed that and used my makeup remover wipes I brought with me. I did use the hand towel throughout my stay when I washed my hands (like a normal person). I used one body towel and one hand towel during my stay and made sure to leave the place clean when I checked out on Sunday. I was charged a cleaning fee for that rental. Sunday afternoon I had an additional charge to my card for damage to sheets and 2 towels. The property manager took pictures of the bed sheets (that I slept in twice) still on the bed and the hand towel and said they were dirty and I was charged to replace them. They did not bother to wash them first, they just charged me to replace them completely. I am a very clean person but I did use 2 towels and slept on the sheets like a normal person and paid for the cleaning charge for the house. I do the same routine at my house and I’ve never had “permanently” stained sheets or towels. They don’t even bother to wash them...they just charge you. I’m so glad I didn’t sit on the couch or have a travel companion that used an additional towel or cup or touch anything. So they supposedly just threw away the sheet and 2 towels immediately...this feels like a scam! I would understand if they washed the items and then said they were damaged but just to assume dirt and some bronzer on my hands would never wash out is crazy. Maybe they should consider different colored towels and bedsheets. I wish I could put pictures on this review to show you how ludicrous this claim actually was. I called the office line and the gentleman did not care, said they would not wash them, I would just be charged. You somehow need to wash your body without getting the towels dirty so that you can sleep in the sheets without getting the sheets dirty. Good Luck!! When I travel to San Diego again, I will not use any VRBO that is affiliated with “My SD Rental”. The wedding party and couple that live in San Diego also said they would refer future guests to another company.
