The house was cute as a button, and very comfortable. It was very close to downtown and many of the trails, which was perfect for us as first time Highlands visitors. The kids are already wanting to go back!
Perfect retreat close to downtown! The place was great for what our family needed. We really enjoyed our stay. Plenty of space, super convenient to everything, and very clean. We will definitely stay here again on our next trip back to Highlands.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The owners were great to work with, the location is convenient to downtown and the home was very well maintained. Look forward to our next visit!
House was super clean and location to Main Street made it easy to come and go for shopping eating and just walking around. Will go back to Highlands and plan on staying at Tally Ho.

Cozy cottage !
Bear House was perfect for our stay in Highlands. Close to everything and walking distance to great restaurants and shopping. The house is well equipped and so cozy with a fireplace and screened porch. Lots of wildlife to watch! A great place for a couple of a family.

thanks and it was a pleasure to have you at our cottage. we hope you enjoyed your stay and keep us in mind on your next trip to Highlands! thanks for the iron and wine. hope you enjoyed the bottle we left for you.
Property owner’s communication and willingness to help was top notch. The cabin was cozy and very clean. It was a perfect place for four girlfriends to have a weekend away. And being able to walk into the cute town of Highlands was a nice bonus.
Our family of 3 had a wonderful stay at your cozy cottage! We have been coming to Highlands for several years and this was the first time that we rented a home. The location could not be any better! Your home was cozy and adorable. I would highly recommend Tally-Ho to anyone looking for a special place within walking distance to downtown.

Another Fabulous Stay!
We had such a lovely Thanksgiving! This was our second year renting this home and would highly recommend it for a visit to Highlands. The cottage is cozy and so close to town that you can stroll down to shop or have dinner. We also love the neighbors next door who are not only very friendly, they also offered us firewood if we needed it. All in all, just a wonderful stay.

Great Home!
We were able to stay two nights in this wonderful little cottage. A group of 6 of us, all adults, were in for a wedding which was in town at Old Edwards Inn. The home's location was superb to all of the festivities' venues! The home was very clean and had everything we needed. We greatly enjoyed the hospitality and ease of communication with the homeowners and will consider on our next trip to the Highlands!

Very Nice Highlands Home
My parents and I stayed here in July '15 and had a fabulous time. We found the home to be very clean and comfortable. This home is walking distance to town and the neighborhood is a quiet place for a walk or run. We would love to rent this home again. The owners were fabulous to work with. They provide renters with a lot of information on shopping, dining, and site seeing prior to your arrival. We can't wait to go back!

Great weekend getaway!
Beat rush hour traffic out of Atlanta and got to Highlands by dinner time to start our weekend at the Tree House. The house is beautiful, just as advertised. Easy walk to everything in town, and short drive to incredible hikes and lookouts. Thanks to the Owners for recommending a day hike in the Panthertown Valley area, with several waterfalls, natural waterslide (water nice and chilly - you're in the mtns!) and trout for the fly fishermen. We'll be back!!

it was a pleasure having you at our Highlands Cottage. we hope you will return again soon!
I almost don't want to write this review, because I don't want it to be booked out the next time we come into town! This place is wonderful. Traveling with our two dogs, we're very familiar with "pet friendly" homes. They're either not pet friendly or just a little run down/not quality. Tallyho is NOT any of these things. It's charming, spacious, comfortable and well maintained. The back deck was great for us and the dogs to sit out on, even if a little chilly. The kitchen was well stocked, beds comfortable & towels thick & cozy. You can tell that the property owners take great care of this home. Location, of course, is fantastic. Check in was easy. This also would be a great home for two families with the downstairs area. Because it was just two of us, we only went downstairs to do laundry - but the house would be great for a couples weekend or someone with little ones. Overall, great stay and will hopefully be back soon.

Very nice stay!
The contact with this property is top notch. The house was just as expected--clean, close to town, nice furnishings and comfortable. It is located in a very nice and quiet neighborhood. The selection of movies is great and games too. We only occupied the upper floor, but the lower level is very nice w/plenty of room. It was too cold to sit on the deck, but know it would be a perfect place to hang on a warm day.
There were only a few things the owners could change to have made our stay hassle free. They printed material we were given--via email or what is in the property notebook in the rental do not match. For example, the driveway--we were instructed to do one thing, but the material in the owner's notebook said something else. This was also true with operating the TV and the Wifi. As I mentioned first, the contact, Justin, was fabulous and always available to help us through this. This is a quick fix to have all instructions matching.
I would definitely recommend this property to others and I would stay there again.

we recently upgraded the TV and had some things in the driveway redone to make it easier for guests (and updated our printed material). i think wrong documents may have been printed for the house. thanks for letting us know and we will have the correct documents printed. we hope you will consider us for your future visits to highlands!

Cute Cottage Close to Town
The house is really close to town and in a great tree covered neighborhood. The place was clean and well-maintained. It definitely has the feel of being lost in the mountains (in a good way).
The only two things to consider:
1. Two bedrooms and one bath are downstairs (basement level) and can only be accessed from outside. It wasn't too much of a problem for us because we were all adults, but it did rain and it made going to rooms a bit of a pain. Also, it would be a good thing to consider if you were planning on having kids stay in the basement.
2. Seating is limited in the living room. Although most people would probably be out and about while visiting Highlands, it rained the whole weekend we were there and had an older relative who visited. So, we spent a more time in the house than usual.
Other than those two things, the place was great. The owner was helpful and the kitchen is well stocked. They have a big movie collection and a wii. The house really the best of both worlds- hidden in the trees but close to town.
We mostly had wedding activities that weekend, so we didn't explore as much as we would have liked, but did have dinner at Rustico on Thursday night. Delicious! Great atmosphere and delicious food.

thanks for your suggestions. just to respond to the two points:
1. in our ad, it states that the bedrooms downstairs have a separate entrance: "*Downstairs: two more bedrooms and a shared bathroom. Separate entrance". we have modified the description now to further state this.
2. Without cluttering the living area, it is not really possible to fit more then the 3 person sofa and the one person living room chair. there are however chairs (and a bench) for up to 10 additional people that can be moved around as required.
I only want to clarify this to future guests so they are aware of the seating situation at the house. this house is a cottage, small, cozy and comfortable.
we hope you will come back and visit us again in the future. thanks

Has Potential - BUT in definite need of some TLC!
I rely on Reviews and picked this property due to the Reviews. We were all disappointed upon hitting the Door. I looked back over the pic's and realized - they must be several years old. The property is a little run down and needs some attention. First - it sticks out like a "sore thumb" from neighbors on the street. Needs some Landscaping & pressure washing of exterior, and painting/stain on front/back decks. Mildew & cobwebs were everywhere. Next, when a property accepts pets - you must be extra diligent about smells. We opened the Door to overwhelming smell of DOG. Had to purchase an "odor eliminator" candle in Highlands or we couldn't have stayed. In addition on the SMELL category - the front right bathroom had a constant odor of some type and downstairs smells musty. The home has a dining table for 8 - yet there is only possible "comfortable" setting for 2 or 3 on sofa. Needs additional options for comfortable TV watching. If a home has FEMALE visitors and definitely if people are guests of Weddings - YOU need a FULL LENGTH MIRROR! After the negative - I'll finish with the Good! Location is fantastic! Perfect for driving/walking to Highlands. Perfect for attending weddings in town and distance to Highlands County Club is great. Beds were very comfortable. As mentioned - this property has tons of potential - but needs some updating and attention to detail to be the 4+ Star Property that previous reviews gave it.

We also rely heavily on our reviews and the quality of our place. its important to voice any issues when staying at a vacation rental while you are there so we can do our best to resolve them. telling us about issues a month later and rating us low does not help the community or the homeowner. the guests after you notified us about a few of the same issues upon check in. we resolved their issues right away and left them with a positive experience. since your visit we have done the following. (this was all done before your recent review):
1. the pictures were from our renovation last summer where we built the covered front and rear porches and replaced the shingle roof with a metal roof.
2. the house, decking and windows have all been pressure washed as of August 1, 2018.
3. the house has had a deep cleaning and we are now limiting visitors with dogs.
4. the furniture description is in our listing. it states the seating arrangements for both the living room and dinging room. the house is a small cottage type of house and there is not room for a larger sofa, nor is there room to add an additional sofa. there is a leather sofa that seats three, plus two chairs in the living room area.
5. the odor downstairs was due to the 22 inches of rain received early July in the area. many houses flooded and were un-usable. since then we have removed the flooring downstairs, installed a moisture barrier and tiled the entire downstairs to eliminate any chances of water or odor issues in the future.
6. the odor in the bathroom upstairs was also related to #5
For those reading the review with any concerns, please contact us with any questions.
we do our best to keep the house in great condition for our guests. sometimes we rely on guests to inform us if they notice something that is not right. we always correct any issues in the best way possible. in the future, you should always give the homeowner the ability to resolve any issues you have when staying at a vacation rental instead of just offering a low quality review or rating.
thanks
We had a family of five adults stay at Tally Ho over Thanksgiving. It was the perfect location and also a great size for our family. It was so quiet and peaceful and fully stocked with everything we needed! Thank you Will and family for sharing your home with us!
We enjoyed our first visit to Highlands and are so glad we rented your house. It was perfect for my husband, daughter and I. The house is perfectly located for hiking and going into town. It is also well stocked for anything that you need during your stay and very comfortable.
