I rented this apartment for my visiting adult son. The place had everything he could want...A/C, a washer/dryer, backyard space etc. Tricia, the owner was extremely accommodating and easy to work with, which made his stay and our communication a breeze.
Unless you need to be in mid-town Manhattan and can afford it, this is a great alternative. 2 blocks to subway with a straight shot to Times Square and Central Park, places in between. You never have to leave the neighborhood for groceries, restaurants, bakeries, hair, massage, etc etc. No need for a car. Bus to downtown Brooklyn. The apartment is roomy with nice kitchen and walk-out to garden. 3 stairsteps to get down to apartment. No noisy neighbors, safe neighborhood. All amenities are taken care of - tv, wifi, heat, AC. We stayed 2 months and regretted having to leave.
Tricia is an absolutely phenomenal host! I couldn’t have found a better place to stay! From the moment I walked in, I felt at home. There was even a message written on the bathroom mirror for me saying “NYC Thanks You.” She has the most relaxing garden in the back that was amazing to unwind in when not at work. The apartment was fully stocked... and even had a rare private w/d off the kitchen. She had a binder of useful information ranging from manuals, tourist attractions, recommendations for restaurants. She was mindful of social distancing, making sure there were 3 days between guests. I even left her a couple UV lights she can use to help sterilize. I can’t wait to come back and stay again... but for a vacation. I absolutely adore NYC!
The property is lovely—big for NYC and comfortably furnished, with lots of natural light and access to a very nice little backyard. The apartment is fully stocked with dish ware, spices, shampoo & conditioner, and cleaning supplies. The location of the property is great! It's close to R train subway stop, not a far walk from Prospect Park, and close to lots of great restaurants, cafés, and supermarkets (with a book of recommendations, which is really helpful!). Tricia is a wonderful host. Check-in was easy and clear and she was always there if we had any questions. Can't recommend the place enough!
We were amazed at how nice this apartment is. It’s immaculately clean and very well equipped with everything you need for an enjoyable stay. Tricia is a great hostess who welcomed us in and made sure we got settled in comfortably. The location, only a few steps from the Metro stop makes it a perfect place to stay to enjoy the city.
This apartment is cozy and beautiful, convenient, and so nicely appointed. The hostess has put many thoughtful touches in the space, and our stay was very pleasant for that and other reasons. A very brief walk to the subway, on a quiet street, where we felt completely safe even walking around late in the evening. And the picture window in the living room looks out on a zen-type garden. Highly recommend.
We loved this apartment and neighborhood! It was really clean, the bed was comfortable and she even had some awesome recliners to rest in!!!! We shall return!!!!!
Comfy, clean, well located garden apartment managed by an accommodating and helpful owner! We will be back!

About the host

I am 62 years old and work as a stage manager/lighting designer for dance. I used to tour a lot but now have a full time job in NYC so like to travel for fun when I can. I have 3 great kitties who live upstairs with me. I love my house and look forward to providing out-of-towners with a great place to stay in Brooklyn.
Why they chose this property
This house is on the same block as my old house (the original Urban Oasis). It's a great block and such a great house; I was so happy to find exactly the place I had imagined when I envisioned upgrading to a 2-family house with a rental unit.
What makes this property unique
There is a great picture window out to the garden in the apartment. Since I did a gut renovation on the apartment, I was able to make into a place that I would love to visit myself; it is very inviting inside and out!
