Very very cool place to stay a lifetime friend of mine and i visited for opening of turkey season and it was awesome quiet access to the river. solitude the best.
Beautiful place to get away and enjoy the peace and quite. The property is located just a short trail walk, or ride if you have a 4 wheel drive, down to the river.
My husband and I stayed two night for a belated honeymoon. The cabin was perfect for us. We enjoyed a nice walk down to the river on the little "road" at the back of the property. Be sure and read the welcome letter to better inform yourself of the cabin and property, that's how my husband learned about the road leading down to the river. We also drove to Pine Bluff Recreational area and it was beautiful! We look forward to coming back again and again!
Very secluded. Nice place to get away from the hustle and bustle. Enjoyed staying at this cabin. Tried to figure out how to bring it home with us. Has everything you need. No surprises when we arrived. Will probably do this again when we visit the grandkids.
Had a great time... there sre deer that run through the area... it is so quite and very cool on back deck in the morning. Unit was well maintained and well stocked with all utensils for inside and out
The cabin was better than I imagined, rustic and very private, with super comfortable beds and very clean. The host was nice and very willing to help. Only down side long gravel road to take my new truck on. Great way to escape the everday world.
This property is so clean and perfect for 2 people (what we had). Maybe more! You don’t have an ounce of cell service, which was refreshing. They have Wi-Fi at the office if you need it. I can express enough what an amazing stay it was! Beautiful and walking distance to the Ouachita River! I’m so glad we chose this cabin! Thanks to the hosts!!!
We had several teens with us and WiFi is a must. The repeater didn’t send a good signal to cabin 3.

Cabins 1 and 2 can receive WiFi. Cabin 3 is too far away. That's why on the description and amenities page for cabin 3 it says WiFi is available at the office.
We enjoyed our stay! Very cute cabin. Deer every morning. You can hear the river running behind the cabin. Has a fire pit and picnic bench.
Please note that cell service (T Mobile) is non existent in this area and the WiFi does not reach cabin 3. Also, if staying during colder months, the only heat is 2 space heaters but they keep it comfortable. We were there when it was mid 20’s at night.
Loved our stay. Will probably stay in cabin 2 next time for the WiFi.
A long drive but worth every mile. Absolutely beautiful area.
The cedar cabin is spacious with all needed some amenities. It was very clean and comfortable. My only problem was assuming it had internet since it had direct TV also. The ad did not state it did have it and never mentioned not having it. Not that me and my husband needed it, but our teen grandsons were disappointed. Other than that, it is a terrific location and relaxing. Thanks for the stay.
what you should expect of a cabin in the woods but is sometimes hard to find..the cabin and property were clean and comfortable. enough off the beaten path to be a great quiet get-away.
Alan is a super host. He answered all of my questions and was helpful and considerate. This area has wonderful huge trees. The river is peaceful and beautiful. The setting is private, almost like it’s your own place. We truly enjoyed just spending time on the river and hanging out at the cabin. We did explore the immediate area a bit and found the main attraction to be the trees and the river which was fine with us.
The one thing that would have made it perfect would be better beds. The beds were very noisy with the slightest movement which interfered with getting good sleep. It was hard for me to take even one star away though because everything else was so wonderful. If you are looking for a place to get in touch with nature—-this is it.
The cabin and the surrounding area were what we were hoping for. The river bank, only a short walk away, was quiet and amazing... as were the stars. The 20 minute drive is a challenge at first but driving it several times was no problem for the mini van. Cabin itself was perfect. Alan was super helpful and we will bring more family next time!
The pictures of this cabin do not do it justice. It was a lot bigger than we expected and the bedroom was separated from the living area, which made it a nice separation for our kids. We didn't get a chance to play in the river much during our stay due to heavy rainfall prior to our stay, however when we were able to get down to the river it was really awesome. It does take some time getting to and from town due to it being 7 miles off the main road, so make sure you stock up when you get to town. Being so far off the road was one of the things my family loved. We discovered something new every time we drove to and from the cabin. My husband and I are planning a weekend away again to dig in the dirt some more in Mt. Ida when the weather is cooler, and plan on staying here. Would highly recommend!
The cabin was perfect - simple but renovated, well stocked and clean. Good bathroom with a shower; kitchen will all required appliances and dishes, two decks and a grill. Laundry room in a separate building was great, since the kids got dirty playing in the river.
Satellite TV was a huge benefit for the kids when it rained outside.
The setting is serene with a beautiful and private access to the river.
thank you!
Beutiful surrounding clean and peaceful ... A little difficult to find from hwy 27 and far from everything not A lot of restaurants or places for supplies so be sure to get your supplies while in hot springs but over all it was awesome if your looking for a get away.
I've stayed in the cabins a couple times and it has always been fantastic. Alan is easy to work with and gives you space to enjoy nature. The cabins have everything you need. The river is really close by. It's awesome!

High Shoals
Cabin 3 was spacious & private. Enjoyed the firepit & grill. We could hear the river from the cabin. River just a short walk away.
We had a great experience with High Shoals Cabins. We spent a quiet, peaceful honeymoon in a clean, modern, maintained cabin. With it being just the two of us, there was plenty of space. We had leftovers from our wedding celebration; supplementing with a couple staples from the grocery in Mt. Ida, we were able to prepare all of our meals in the full kitchen. Alan was very nice and hospitable. Check-in & out were very easy. Just make sure to write down the lockbox code & Alan’s phone number in case you can’t connect to pull the information off the VRBO app (I’m not used to this well-deserves disconnect from society, but it was so needed). We will definitely be back; hopefully with a small group next time!
