Located within four blocks of beach access and extensive hiking trails, the Whale Watcher is designed to take maximum advantage of the outdoor life. With its high ceilings, open floor plan, fully stocked kitchen, spacious living room, and bamboo flooring, this home is ideal for both indoor and outdoor entertaining. The kitchen, dining room, living room and wrap-around private deck offer expansive 180 degree whitewater views. With fine dining and antique hunting available in nearby Cambria, you are also within minutes of wine tasting in Paso Robles, hiking in Big Sur, exploring Hearst Castle and viewing the natural wonder of the Piedras Blancas elephant seal rookery.

In addition to the 3 bedrooms that sleep six,1 King bed, 1 Queen bed and 1 Full bed, the Whale Watcher offers a loft that is designed for family life; whether it be watching TV, listening to music, strumming on the guitar, finishing that novel or playing board games with the kids. The house is comfortable, nicely layed out, with awesome views of the ocean from most every room. We really enjoyed sitting out on the deck. The location is great, in a quirt neighborhood, near the trails and close to downtown Cambria. Enjoyed our time in this house immensely; we will try to reserve "Whale Watchers" again next Summer.

We spent many hours out on the deck enjoying the fantastic view and beautiful weather. We even watched a Spacex launch. The only downsides are a double bed rather than a queen in one of the bedrooms and very limited parking. We’ve already planned two more stays at this beautiful house for 2026.

Christmas at Cambria

We loved this house based on its location and view of the ocean. The kitchen especially is generously supplied with high end cooking equipment in addition to generous supplies provided - towels, blankets, fans, pillows, paper goods and condiments including crushed ice and coffee.The home is decorated beautifully with whale/ocean theme decor.

Beautiful ocean view

We loved the house so much that we didn’t want to leave. The views from the house and the deck are breathtaking! The best neighborhood in Cambria. The house is less than 5 min walk to the beautiful Fiscalini Ranch Preserve and beach. We are already planning on coming back.

Only slight disadvantage is the lack of parking (the garage is small and the driveway is short; don't bring a large vehicle if you can help it; there is roadside parking about 3 house lengths away). Having the bedrooms all downstairs allows family "vacation mess" to be contained and the main floor and loft to feel company ready and serene with three different conversation or get-away areas all with a spectacular ocean view! Thank you to our wonderful "host-ghosts"! Your TLC was noticed.

Fantastic balcony and views

The house was as described - great views, well stocked kitchen, and lots of room in the main part of the house. For those that want to know, the main bedroom has a king bed, the other two rooms have full/double beds. I wish they would have put that in the description. There was no way to reach out to the management company within the VRBO App before booking which is a negative, but other than that, the house was clean, the location great, the views spectacular! I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Our stay at the Whale Watcher

We found the property clean and well stocked for our needs. The house is very comfortable with a beautiful view. How ever the garage was too small for our ford F150 and it barely fit length wise in the driveway. It would have been helpful to know that it was more suited for a smaller vehicle. when the garage door quit working the management addressed it in a timely manner. Overall, we would recommend this property.

The owners might want to be aware that the sink in the secondary bathroom has a stopper that needs repair. Also, the floor mat in the master bath is missing. It's difficult to step out onto a cold, hard tile floor after a shower. The dishwasher is unbalanced in its space making it hard to turn it on. These are minor but we thought it might be something the owners would want to know about.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We have rented a LOT of different homes in Cambria over the last 25 years, but this is one we would return to over and over again. The decor is light and tasteful and the house was super clean and easy to keep clean. The views are truly breathtaking, and feel almost 360. We love that the television is in an adorable loft, keeping the living free for cozy nights by the fire. VERY well appointed kitchen. My husband and I both got so much work done here, and our 8-year-old loved it, too. Only notes: to walk to/from Fiscalini trailheads will mean quite a bit of uphill on the way back to the house (we loved it, fyi for any mobility issues), there is limited parking, and the dishwasher is not cabinet-installed, so a bit clunky (but totally works). Shout-out to the primary shower, including the ocean views!
