Peaceful, beautiful, and close to lots of activities. We thoroughly enjoyed the hummingbird house. Ginger and her husband are so nice also. Great place to stay to get away from it all but still close enough to things and places to eat etc.
Cute and quiet, just like we like. Spa was awesome, the kids loved it. Wish the listing had been more specific about the lack of a kitchen/cooking area. Glad we didn't buy groceries before coming out.
We had a wonderful relaxing time. We were in the area for the Robert Earl Keen/Willie Nelson concert.
The accommodations are simple and comfortable as described…but the environment is wonderful.
We enjoyed a wonderful storm and a luxurious soak in the hot tub. We saw deer, a fox an a Jack rabbit. The plant life on the land was fascinating and afforded a feeling of seclusion.
Ginger is an excellent hostess. She communicated well and gave us great suggestions on what to see. Her daughter owns a popular restaurant in Wimberly.(The Wimberly Cafe). We had a very nice breakfast there in Friday.
We look forward to staying again in the future and will stay longer.

Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, communication
The swim spa was clean and added the perfect touch to this little house. The one thing I would change is the close proximity to the owners actual house. While relaxing in the spa, you can see/see through the owners back porch/windows. We would have preferred more privacy than this property has to offer and chose not to use the spa as often as we would have liked due to the shared space with the owners.
The hot tub was an infinity hot tub, so it was huge and the ability to swim against the stream was amazing. Ginger was very helpful. The property was quiet and clean.
The Guest House is beautiful, surrounded by amazing views and nature. The only sissy we had was a very leaky sink, and a very busy owne/ gardeners?! Other then that stay was super lovely.
The house was in a great location that was close to everything that we wanted to do. The hosts were lovely and were readily available for anything we needed! There was lots of wildlife around. The outside area was perfect with a very nice hot tub. The late checkout was an awesome benefit! We will definitely stay again!
Very good communication and directions from host. Beautiful neighborhood. Pictures in listing are accurate except river. Does seem more isolated than it is. 2 homes in driveway area with shared space in back. Hot tub/swim spa was the savior of the stay! Great area, close to a lot of other towns, shopping, activities. Found plenty of places to eat even in off season. We arrived in cold weather and house was freezing. Had to go out, leave heater on and buy another then come back. For us, bed was very uncomfortable- think memory foam like topper and bed squeaks/rolls. Comfortable living room furniture. Has small fridge, microwave, hot plate available. Overall nice little stay.
Great location in the Hill Country. Relaxing and quiet place. Hot tub is a plus we were sitting in late night watching the stars.
Hosts (Ginger and Philip) gave us a good tips on what to do in the area.
We had a wonderful time!!
Everything was perfect for our Hill country fun. The only thing I can say is the jacuzzi isn’t nearly private as shown in the pictures. We will definitely be back!
Overall experience was nice, loved the hot tub, the property managers are right onsite so it wasn’t as private as expected. Bathroom sink has no cold water and shower is very small. I ended up leaving early due to needed to get back home to the kids.
Beautiful place, loved watching all the birds and deer! Hosts gave great tips of things to do! They had all the fixings for a good cup of coffee in the mornings, and the hot tub was a bonus!
Great location in the hill country near lots to do at Canyon lake, Wimberley shopping, food, etc. Local dining & live music was great & I'd definitely come back to Hummingbird House! Not much of a kitchen so pack snacky food & plan to eat out or make sandwiches. Master bed comfort wasn't the best but it was okay for short weekend.
My husband and I visited through the weekend leading up to New Year's and had an excellent stay for our anniversary. Ginger and Philip were fantastic hosts and the property was even better in person than the pictures they have posted. Sitting in the hot tub late night under the bright Texas Stars was a highlight. Location is perfect, close enough to get groceries or eat out but also very quiet. We saw lots of deer plus several beautiful winter sunsets. We ate twice at the Italian garden restaurant. (The calamari and chicken piccata were great!) We also took advantage of the unseasonably warm weather and adventured over to the Wimberley Zipline course plus lots of hiking near the dam and downstream. We would enjoy visiting this property again when we make our way back to Canyon Lake / Wimberley area again. Happy New Year!

About the host
Hosted by Ginger Hughes
My husband and I moved here from the big city of Dallas to enjoy the relaxation and beauty of the Hill Country. We love to tub or float the cool rivers and lake as well watch the abundant songbirds, deer, fox and other wildlife on our property. We are so happy to be able to share our little paradise with others.
Why they chose this property
We are located in the ideal spot, close to music and wine venues, shopping in the quaint HIll Country villages of Wimberley and Gruene, close to the clear waters of Canyon Lake and the cool waters of the Guadalupe River.
What makes this property unique
Our sunsets are always different yet always spectacular. The hummingbirds come right up to the porch where you are sitting, the deer and fox run around the property every day and night, and you'll love to watch the birds at our bird feeders and bird bath.
