About this property

Gracefully perched on the edge of the tallest peak of Homer's bluff system, this cozy seaside abode is new construction, on property that has been in my family for three generations. Enjoy 360 degree, breathtaking views of Kachemak Bay, the majestic mountains, and the infamous Homer Spit. The home is custom built, with original, local works of art, handmade furniture, heated floors, and handmade furniture. The stone countertops are embedded with pieces of gold, and mineral concentrates from the owner's gold mining business below the Arctic Circle. It also includes a full kitchen.

In 2020 we really focused on outdoor space and developing the luxury experience. Relax in our new, spacious, private natural gas sauna - designed and hand-built by local craftsmen. And enjoy our new live-edge custom outdoor bench seating with private propane fire pit on cool evenings!

This intricately-crafted dwelling awaits to offer you a peaceful oasis, with privacy to soak in the phenomenal scenery of Alaska's most beautiful city, yet is a convenient, five minute drive from the base of the infamous Homer Spit, where the unique shops and charter boats await you.

I joyfully welcome you into this space, which I host from afar, as I work seasonally up in Nome, Alaska, as a gold miner on Discovery Channel's Bering Sea Gold. Please contact me if you foresee any difficulty climbing a ladder to access the sleeping loft, or if you're concerned about the proximity to the bluff, which does have a security barrier. Fantastic

We stayed in three VRBOs in AK over a 10-day period. One in Healy, Anchorage, and Homer. This was our favorite. Beautiful view of the bay. Easy access to the spit. The fire table, indoor gas fireplace, heated floors in the bathroom, well stocked kitchen. Bottle of wine. Sauna. Great experience. Thank you.

Cosy Private Cabin with Spectacular Views

This small cabin has an artistic minimalist flair. It is probably best for short stays and guest under 60 due to tight quarters for sleeping in the loft up a ladder. It would be perfect for longer stays if it had a couch or lounging chairs. There is no TV, hot tub or microwave but it is perfect for disconnecting and relaxing. The views across the bay and Homer spit are amazing. Thank you sharing your home!

Loved the Loft

We loved staying at this property, which we dubbed "the loft." The spit and town are very close. The bottle of wine was a nice touch, especially after the drive from Anchorage. We were glad that we brought a fan as it got a bit warm from the evening sun. We would definitely stay at "the loft" again. Thank you Emily!

Beautiful

This property was so beautiful! Nice little details like fresh peonies. Great views overlooking the water, easy to access and close to the spit but very private. The host was easy to contact and incredibly kind and helpful.

Fantastic!

Better than than the pictures. Everything is top of the line in this cabin, clean, smelled great and the yard overlooking the bay and spit is incredible. You feel completely secluded, yet there are neighbors right there and amenities are a 5 min drive away. We were so comfortable and did not want to leave. Emily’s property manager responded immediately after each contact...so easy! Met and had a wonderful conversation with her mom...very down to earth and friendly people! We will be back!

Quiet & Peaceful

Had a wonderful stay, getting away from town for a bit. The property has easy access to Homer, but feels secluded. The views are great, and the cabin itself is very thoughtfully put together. Peaceful and relaxing, great experience!

We had a great time! Hosts were super friendly and helpful! We had to adjust our plans with Covid, resulting in our kiddos going on our trip with us, and they were super flexible with the needed change! The little kitchen was great and we had everything we needed to cook some basic meals! We hope to come back again some day!!

It was perfect.

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay here. The place was cozy and close to everything we needed. And the property manager always had quick replies. It was a perfect getaway. We highly reccomend staying here.

Wonderful place!

The location of this property was perfect for what our plans were! So close and convenient to everything, yet Homer is small enough I don't think anything is too far out. I loved the chalet, it is so quaint and was perfect for the 2 of us. Liz (Emily's sister and property manager) was great!! Very sweet, accomodating, informative and helpful!! I will agree with a previous comment that the place is a little hard to find. All the homes are tucked in off the main road, hidden by alot of trees, so you can't really see the place from the road. Look for the little Lighthouse by the road, about the height of a mailbox and where the mailboxes are, turn there! The only thing that is different from the pictures is the view of the bay from the house and porch. We were there at the end of July when all the trees and landscaping were in full bloom, so the full view you see in the pictures is really obstructed. If you walk off the porch to the fence you get the full view of the bay, mountains and Homer Spit....IT IS BEAUTIFUL and ABSOLUTELY BREATHTAKING!!! I wish we had more time there!!! Just a helpful tip - I will preface with we had no issues at all, however this is not the place for someone who can't walk steps, you have to go up steps to enter the home as well as the loft bed. Thank you Emily (and Liz) , your place was WONDERFUL!!!

Hidden Gem

This cabin truly is a hidden gem! You are tucked back off the road, with gorgeous views of the mountains, ocean and the spit. The cabin is modernised with a touch of Alaska love. The best part was whether you're on the deck or in the loft you can listen to the ocean waves. The family you rent the cabin from are all nice, welcoming, and accommodating! Will definitely be back!

Sweet Little Nugget In Homer

This was such a cute little place to stay. Very nicely built and decorated, I wouldn’t change a thing, except maybe a chaise or cushioned couch for lounging. The communication with manager was amazing and she was very friendly. If you are looking for a quaint little place with one hell of a view, this is it! Gold stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Fun getaway

Very clean and bright unit. Beautiful view. Loft bed is a bit of a tight squeeze but manageable. Bedding is soft and inviting. Nice quiet getaway.

Beautiful location with unique, stylish living area

Gorgeous views, beautiful backyard and stylish home. The home was spotless and the entire stay was very enjoyable. If desired, lots of local advice available from the property managers. Privacy as well. Perfect location in beautiful Homer!

Emily Riedel is a fourth generation Alaskan, raised in Homer, and educated for operatic performance on the East Coast. Currently she mines for gold seasonally in Nome, Alaska, and has been on the cast of Discovery Channel's Bering Sea Gold since its inception in 2011. When she isn't running an offshore gold hunting boat, she tries to sing as much as possible, travel, and host splendid travelers, such as yourself!
