Cute cottage, private, right in the small town but nicely off the beaten track. Owners were super responsive immediately... I went to the wrong property, at night,
Charming, older cottage. Perfect for a couple and a pet.
However, we did not enjoy the seclusion of the property. Being behind another house.
Russ was great with golf cart issue.
Wonderful experience.
Third stay in this property, fourth with this owner. Very happy with the stay. Only suggestion would be a section of palisade fence between the second door and the outdoor shower. Property is actually even more quiet now since the campground across the way became annual leases only.
Was just what we needed for three nights for me and my wife. Very clean place. Seem to be very safe area. We had a golf cart waiting on us within 10 feet of our door area. Would definitely stay here again. Great communication. Really enjoyed our stay, thank you
Loved location of cottage! Easy walk to shopping and restaurants. Outside shower was great.
Bed was comfy. Living area needed repair to couch and several spotlights were out. The AC unit in living area was very loud. The place stayed nice and cool though, The cottage was very quiet which was nice.

What I liked was the location. We stayed there to attend the Ocrafolk Festival, and we were only 2 minutes away (by bike). Also having a parking spot for our car right next to where we were staying was great, even though we never used our car the entire week. The area was also quiet, which was nice.
What I did not like was the clutter and the general condition of the house. It's small and space is at a premium. The couch was way to big. There was a stool that was unnecessary and just taking up room. A decorative tchotchke on the coffee table was also unnecessary and was quickly placed out of the way onto the floor. Other minor issues that detracted from the stay included dull cutting knives that were in dire need of sharpening and only one dinner knife. We were told to bring our own toaster as there was none. That turned out to be false. There were 3 coffee makers, 2 of which just took up more space. There were no clothes closets and very few clothes hooks, so you wound up throwing clothes where ever you could find a space. The outside deck had a 2-piece gate which was difficult to open and close. It also was made up of rusty chicken wire which was broken in places and presented a cutting hazard. One of the chaise lounges had broken straps.
I bring these mostly minor issues up because it appears the owners have not visited the house in a while to check its condition. None of these on their own was a big deal, but taken together they add up.
The cottage was perfect for how we wanted to spend our getaway. Dinners out, fishing, beach and long walks. I could make breakfast and put together lunch for our outings. It was wonderful having our dog and meeting Noodles….the owners dog who is absolutely darling. My husband and I will keep this location in our favorite file for the future!!!
My husband and I made an excellent choice when we decided to stay at The Lucky Buc! It was perfect for a long weekend get-away! It was very clean, very easy to find, and located in a good spot right in the middle of the village, yet off of the main road just far enough. We really enjoyed our time there and would highly recommend anyone looking for a cozy, pet-friendly spot to vacation to check it out!! :)

Our stay
It was not very clean, hole under the door, raccoons on porch during day trying to get in trash. I thought the raccoons could possibly pass through that hole so we stuffed it. We could not leave our dog on the patio because of this. The gate was broken. The floor was full of sand. The couch was also broken and sticky. Odd and end pieces in kitchen. Be sure to bring EVERYTHING you need because they do not supply anything. Too add good points the check in and out was awesome. Host was extremely kind and accommodating. The AC works fantastic and you need it there trust me. The island was so much fun and the beach amazing. Once we got everything clean, the place was ok. I would invest in fixing things, a new couch and chair, fix the gate, the hole, update utensils in the kitchen, leave trash bags and paper towels even dish soap and cleaning supplies. If your guest tear anything up, make them pay for it. You’re in a great location but you could do better so just do better. Good luck to you in the future.
This cottage was perfect for our long weekend stay on Ocracoke. Very clean and comfortable. Highly recommend! Host was quick and thorough with all communication. A great experience all around.
My dog and I enjoyed staying at the Lucky Buc. It was a comfortable oasis after a day at the beach. The cottage was very clean, and nicely decorated. It was a little too hot, and a little bit too many mosquitos to spend very much time out on the nice deck, but the enclosure was very nice for my dog. The outdoor shower was really great for washing off sandy feet and sandy paws before coming inside. AC worked well. Owners were very nice. I'll book again for next year.
We had a incredible time staying in this lovely home for a week. Was clean, private location, big deck, had pretty nature views, friendly and helpful owners, secure gate for fur babies & the outdoor shower was also incredible…truly couldn’t have asked for more! We will definitely rent the lucky buc in the future!
