Lovely stay in Rockslea

At our arrival, we all fell immediately in love with Rockslea. In the evening, our eleven-year-old son wrote in our family travelogue that it was “one of the most beautiful houses of the world”, and indeed we felt wonderful there throughout our whole stay of two weeks. We enjoyed also the quiet beauty of St Monans and the other villages of the East Neuk which we explored via the Coastal Path. All in all, it was an absolutely lovely holiday!

Great House by the sea

Great house, spotlessly clean & beautiful decor with fabulous sea views. Great costal walks & we loved the log burner. We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend. The only downside is St.Monans is just a bit too quiet for us.

Lovely Break

We always look forward to staying at Rockslea. The house is spotlessly clean, very well equipped, beautifully furnished and provided with great quality linens. The location is wonderful - I like to sit in the bedroom dormer reading, and admiring the amazing sea view. You can open the window at night and be lulled to sleep by the gentle crash of the waves on the shore.

Superb cottage

A really lovely cottage in a perfect location. Stunning views out to sea and the harbour and right on tht coastal path. A couple of good restaurants in the village and a great sandwich shop too. The cottage itself is equipped to a very high standard and was immaculate on arrival. Highly recommended.

Another fantastic stay at Rockslea!

Our third great stay st Rockslea! Really quirky house, fantastic for quiet relaxing days reading, eating great food round the big oak dining table, or snoozing on the sofa as the sun shines in the window. Just a perfect family retreat! We will definitely be back later in the year. Thanks Lindsay & Gus 🙂

Fishing Village Getaway

The property in a quiet fishing village adjacent to the water. This made for good sleeping as you could keep the windows open to hear the tide coming in and going out. The cottage is exactly what one thinks about when you say fisherman's cottage- it is compact but has an abundance of charm and everything a couple or small family needs. Being able to sit at the kitchen table and look out over the water each morning was perfect for us! There is also a small front porch with benches that you can sit on and have conversations with passers-by. Overall the cottage and location were ideal for our expectations and we enjoyed our time spent there.

Fisherman's Cottage on the Sea

This is a lovely cottage by the water in St Monans. It is tastefully decorated and comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped. Our host was very welcoming and responsive to any queries we had. We enjoyed walking around and exploring St Monans. The last night we enjoyed a superb dinner at the Craig Millar restaurant only two minutes walk away. Our stay passed too quickly and we were sorry to have to move on. Hopefully we shall return in the future.

Perfect for a quiet break

When researching a weeks stay on the Fife coast, we looked at dozens of properties but were drawn back to Rockslea. We were so very glad we did and I would strongly suggest you don't bother looking elsewhere, save yourself some time and just book this absolutely perfect cottage. On arrival, it was absolutely immaculately clean, very comfy beds and contained everything you could possibly want for a peaceful and relaxing break. The central heating is excellent and the cottage was lovely and warm even with the heating off. The photos of the views from the windows really don't do it justice, the sea is literally the other side of the wall and we were lucky enough to have some really windy days with rough seas and spent ages just watching the waves crash over the rocks and the harbour walls. We thoroughly loved our week in the cottage and will DEFINITELY be back although this time, we will look at coming during warmer weather so we can take advantage of the walks. We thoroughly recommend this lovely cottage, you will not be disappointed!

spectacular cottage by the sea!

From the minute we arrived we knew we would love this little house! It was spotlessly clean and had everything you could possibly need! So comfortable and cozy! And the view from the windows and front porch- beautiful. Communication with the owner was always effortless. We met two local ladies right off while enjoying a scotch on the porch, who pointed us in the direction of the co-op (groceries) in Anstruther and a place called Wee Chippies for some dinner the first night. try the Waterfront Inn in Anstruther too! Also loved the Giddy Gannet for tea and cake-check their hours. We took day trips… Did not want to leave and be way too long from St. Monans! Check out a place called the Clocktower Café in Pittenweem- awesome food great service. also, in Pittenweem, you can visit Saint Fillans Cave- get the key from the lady at the chocolate shop next to the Clocktower café! another nice town to visit is Elie- the Ship Inn- good food wonderful people… Check the hours. Beautiful views of the sea there. The 19th Hole pub was lovely-we went there for dinner but the chef had a family emergency so we just had a beer!! we drove up to Crail Pottery- they’ve been in business forever, and his family owned cute stuff! and we had to stop at the butcher to get some haggis, which we have come to love!!! if you want some really fresh local foods, go to andross farm… Right down the road. and finally don’t miss Saint Monans parish church in this village. beautiful cemetery and such views- SPECTACULAR! I could go on and on all day about this place but you have to see it for yourself! on our last morning there we drove over to the church for one last look, and met a man walking his dog. He asked where we were staying told him the house. He whipped out his phone and showed us picture. It was from 1930s of Rockslea! And it was QUITE different from the house that is there now! The owners have done an incredible amazing job and it is a place we will never forget! Many thanks!! Dawn & Wallace (Pennsylvania USA)
