Places to See and experience in and around Ashoka Orchard Narkanda;
1) Sara Meadow
It is a grassland at top of the mountain commonly known as Gujar Koti, which means Nomadic house. This place is occasionally occupied by Nomadic Tribes of Indian plains during summer season along with their cattle. This tradition is thousands of year old and have become part of ecology here. Local movies and songs use this place for cinematography.
2) Holy Derthu Mata Temple
It is one of the famous Bhima Kali temple located in the periphery of Narkanda. It is wooden carved and right in the middle of forest. It is a spiritual place and local people have huge respect for it. The aura here is very powerful even an atheist will feel the presence of supernatural.
3) Ashoka Orchard Narkanda (Camp site)
It is exactly 1.2 acres of semi apple orchard with ample of parking space, drinking water and electricity. It is safe, totally fenced and technically only possible place to camp as forest department does not give permission to tent or camp on its land due to security reason.
The unique thing about the camp site is its location as one can enjoy forest, valley view, snowbound peaks and simple farm chores. For all the nature lovers experience of this farm and its environment is highly recommended.
3) Chhichar Tibba
Derthu Top is situated at an altitude of about 10,000 feets from the sea level. Top of Derthu is almost 100 metres above Derthu Mata Temple. Local name of Derthu Top is Chhichar Tibba (Chhichar means Highest of all). As the name suggests, it is the highest point of the region. Locals believe that it is old Derthu. Presently Derthu Mata Temple is below the old Derthu. The peak is surrounded with large Deodar trees which are snow covered in winters and look exceptionally beautiful. At the Top Derthu, there is an immense peace and hardly any sound. People come to Derthu Temple during Navratras and other Festivals.
There are many routes to Derthu. From Narkanda, a 8 kms one way link road to Derthu Temple. Also you can trek to Derthu from Kant Bari near Kandyali. It will take almost 2 hrs.
