We had a wonderful stay. The property couldn't be more conveniently located, the backyard is beautiful and the host was very communicative and available as needed. We recommend it highly!
This is home is so quaint and wonderful! We had a lovely stay. The location is amazing. We loved the decor and style of this Spanish bungalow. And we also really enjoyed the backyard. Thanks for a great stay!
This is the rare property that truly feels like you are “home” when you arrive. Whether a weekend stay, or a week long stay, everything you need is at hand. Diane was incredible to work with, and the property location is ideal for walking as well as peace and quiet. We will return!
What a wonderful property! We absolutely loved our stay. The house is very clean, cozy, and the location could not be any better. So glad we stayed here!
We loved our stay in this charming home! Beautifully appointed, gorgeous/private yard, and such a wonderful location - easy walking to so many great spots in Santa Barbara. Would absolutely return!
We did not want to leave this wonderful location by the beach in Santa Barbara! Fabulous location. Beautiful house and yard with patio. Our family of 4 had a wonderful time walking to the beach, State St food, and the Moxi. We will be certain to return.
Super location for us. Easy walking access to everything! Pleasant, neat and tidy home. Comfortable with newer furnishings. Impressed with how clean and neat this home was.
We loved this charming Spanish colonial home! The decor is lovely and the owner has thought of every detail to make your stay comfortable. The yard is quiet and beautiful - perfect for lazy reading afternoons or just listening to the birds and eating an orange picked fresh off of the tree. The location is perfect - walking distance to the beach and the many great restaurants and shops in Santa Barbara. Off street parking is an additional amenity.
We enjoyed a beautiful weekend in Santa Barbara at this wonderful property! The house is quintessential Santa Barbara...charmingly decorated and beautifully landscaped. You can't beat the location! The house is located on a quiet street and is within easy walking distance to the beach, excellent restaurants, the Funk Zone, and State Street. There are several outdoor sitting areas that we couldn't enjoy due to rain, but that would be lovely to enjoy with a morning coffee or evening glass of wine in warmer weather. We loved our stay at this property.
We had a really nice time at this lovely home. It was very comfortable and a great location. We really enjoyed the backyard with the orange tree and having fresh squeezed orange juice every morning. Diane gave us some great recommendations and we tried most of them. Our favorite was dinner at Oku on Cabrillo at sunset on the upper patio. We also enjoyed whale watching and walking up and down State Street and breakfast at the marina. We had a great weekend and can highly recommend Diane and her home.
We come to Santa Barbara every year for New Years (UCSB grads classes of ‘99 and ‘05!). We discovered Diane’s house three years ago and it’s been so nice to bring our young children down to stay- the house is cozy and clean and it has been a game changer not having to drive everywhere.
Diane and Don are lovely and responsive and go above and beyond to help the family get settled.
Excellent size property big outdoor area .ground floor position ideal for those with walking difficulties. (ie me as i had ruptured achilles so was wearing moonboot)apartment has everything you need for sc.some noise from yappy dog in morning but not a problem for us as we have 2 of our own.great communication from host.would definitely rent again as a famiky group.Beds firm but always got a good nights sleep.
We felt at home from the moment we arrived! Unexpectedly, the orange tree in the yard was a huge hit. We had fresh juice every morning. The house was so comfortable! It was really conveniently located and could walk to dinner every night. We were there to visit UCSB for our daughter. Now that she has committed to attending there, I hope to use this house when we go to visit her. Thank you!
Wonderful place to stay in Santa Barbara!! Location so close to beach, shopping, dining, Funk Zone, and so much more! Not just location, but also great accommodations and back yard fantastic for hanging out. Would book again next time we are in Santa Barbara for sure.
Our stay was fabulous! The location couldn’t be better - totally walkable to everything downtown Santa Barbara has to offer. The house itself is so charming. It’s an older home that has been updated with features that still match the charm of the home but also make for a comfortable stay. The backyard space is so wonderful for families. 10/10 would stay here again!
The location is perfect. A few minutes walk to the pier, marina, Cabrillo Blvd. promenade, State Street and the Funk Zone. The neighborhood is quiet. the house is lovely - exactly as advertised. My family and I would gladly stay here again.

About the host
Hosted by Diane Connors
We live in Buellton, CA and have always dreamed of owning a home in Santa Barbara. We have recently retired and purchased and redid this wonderful cottage for us, our daughters, and our 8 grandchildren to use and enjoy. We love sailing off the California coast and feel so lucky when staying at Casa Capricho and being able to walk to the boat at the harbor.
Why they chose this property
We initially purchased our vacation cottage because one of our children was attending school in this location, but we quickly fell in love with this beautiful city and all of the cultural and outdoor activities that it offers.
What makes this property unique
We love the Spanish Colonial charm of our cottage, our private garden with orange trees and our quiet neighborhood. We especially love the fact that we can walk everywhere! We take daily walks along East and West Beaches to Shoreline Park or out on Stearns Wharf. We love to walk to our favorite restaurants, Brophy Brothers and Enterprise Fish Company. We often walk to the movie theaters on State Street or to the Farmer's Markets on Tuesdays and Saturdays. We walk to the Santa Barbara Sailing Center, where we can rent a sailboat by the hour or take whale watching cruises. We walk to our Athletic Club to work out, to East Beach to pay beach tennis or volley ball, or to West Beach for swimming or tennis. We often picnic at Shoreline Park. We love the proximity of Santa Barbara City College and the opportunity to take classes there. We also love all the cultural events offered at the Lobero and Granada Theaters and other venues accessible by foot. We enjoy the benefits of the activities of the Maritime Museum, the MOXY museum of science, and the Ronald Reagan Museum with all of their offerings and all within walking distance. It is truly a dream come true to spend time in this city.
