We had a great time with my wife and two young kids. Norbert took us out on his boat for 4th of July and was an absolute blast staying here. Nice lake. Big, well maintained yard. Very clean place and excellent host. Very close to a decent restaurant and loved its proximity to the Twin Cities while still feeling like we were “up north”. Would recommend!
My son and I really enjoyed our weekend getaway to this amazing place. We had everything we needed and more. The hosts were great, very friendly people!
I definitely recommend staying here and hope to come back one day!
A nice, low maintenance getaway weekend on a lakefront was what we were looking for and it was definitely what we got. Owners were fantastic at communicating with us so that we knew what to expect from our experience at their property. Clean and comfy, fantastic shower, will consider returning to it in the future!
Norbert and Tami were the perfect hosts for our quick family getaway. Their rental was just what we were looking for on a beautiful, peaceful lake. Our boat ride was a highlight! If you are looking for a space to relax and enjoy picture perfect scenery, this is the place for you!
We had a great weekend. We stayed here prior to our wedding and it was a tranquil place for us to get our minds and belongings together. Norbert was great and took myself and some friends on the boat for the evening. Great time and great amenities!

It was fun hosting you and taking you out on the lake on the boat! Congratulations again!
Tami & Norbert
Norbert and his wife were very kind and accommodating. We enjoyed going out on the pontoon one day day the other day we just floated out in the lake on our tubes. The place is spacious and it was nice to have space outside to sit and eat as well.
We enjoyed our time there!

Alright - let me respond to this:
1. I would say that everyone reading this "review" will see that the reviewer has issues starting with the way this was written.
2. While we welcome ANY criticism to make things better for future guests, I believe readers of these "accusations" need to hear the full story, especially since we pretty much always get 5-Star praises:
Let me start by stating we recommended not to host Eldon and his party in your home. From the beginning - even before the arrival - we were asked to provide things. We purchased kayaks upon Eldon's request they asked for to rent. They were never used. When they checked in and couldn't figure out a basic light switch dimmer and I explained it, they asked "if I had a roll of paper towels." Normally this is something you don't "expect" and get or bring yourself. What did we do instead of sending them to the grocery store? We gave them a roll of paper towels, as we are providing and giving people.
While it is true, that Tami accidentally went into the rental space for seven minutes (which can be seen on our security cameras) this was a human mistake that never happened before and had absolutely no negative or harmful effect whatsoever. However, it was "used" to get money back. So we agreed that this was our mistake, and refunded one night. That was already more than generous. We then provided treat gifts for them, like we do for others randomly. They were received with a cold "Thanks" text message. And after a week's stay we were blamed for "garlic smell on their things". This is so ridiculous as our kitchen is upstairs, venting up and out, not down. This guest's sole objective was to get money back, take what they can at our expense, and fabricate things to benefit them.
Lastly they forgot to pack some clothes and when we mentioned that we were accused of not “checking drawers”??? We even mailed them their belongings back to their house.
This was their first stay, so they need to learn to live in a shared space as we clearly describe in our listing . Folks like these would be better off in a hotel.
We were looking for a quick getaway before school. Norbert was very accommodating in our last minute booking. The property was exactly as described. We took advantage of fishing off the dock, and going out on the pontoon. It was a great weekend overall!

We are glad you had a good time - and thank you for being fantastic and very respectful guests. Come again anytime!
Comfortable like staying in a friend’s home. Access could be improved with a gravel path along the side of the house. The coffee, snacks and water in the refrigerator were welcomed.
Very lovely property on a beautiful lake. The hosts took us out on the boat for a two hour trip. That was very nice. We even pulled over and jumped out and took a little swim. We build a fire and went fishing off the kayaks. Highly recommend.
We were staying in the area for a family wedding and needed a place for four adults and one dog. The space and location was perfect for our needs. We even found a Rover half a mile away to watch our dog when needed. Norbert and Tami were very accommodating and checked in to see if there was anything we needed but also gave us space to do our thing. We spent time there in between visiting family and wedding activities. We didn't take advantage of the lake activities due to our schedule but did enjoy the beautiful views. The rental was clean, cozy and comfortably decorated.

Liked: Cleanliness, location, listing accuracy
Great spot, spacious, clean
Nice place with lots of room for 3 or 4 adults, great lake view, peaceful and quiet. We had aggravating communication problems. VRBO messaging is lousy. They never responded to our first message sent when we booked six months out. They didn't answer phone calls, texting was the only method so there were many frustrating delays. They called and left a message on our home phone with the code to check in several days after we'd told them we were starting our trip so we never got it. We hated the policy that we had to either pay a ninety nine buck damage insurance fee or deposit fifteen hundred bucks six months in advance of the rental before we could go to the next screen to book the place. That's onerous for just a two night stay. I'm saying "bucks" because they won't let me put in dollar amounts – that's big brotherish! We are responsible senior citizens with no pets. We knew we wouldn't damage the place so the insurance is simply throwing cash away. That's a VRBO money grab. We opted for the crazy huge deposit but most folks don't have that kind of money to put on hold. We are fortunate we can. Most will just shrug and pay for damage insurance they don't need and won't use. It's now 13 days since we checked out and our deposit has not yet been refunded. The competition (you know who I'm talking about but big brother won't let me say it here) has a much better policy. They will charge your credit card to pay for any damages. Won't use VRBO again for this reason.
Contacted owner prior re: amenities, sleeping accommodations, etc. Specifically asked about boat rental, kids being able to go tubing, etc. Received message day of from owner with code to get in. Expected a kitchenette. Microwave and hot plate were available, but so sink, no counter to prepare anything. We set food out buffet style on our coolers. Not able to wash dishes easily as water had to be gotten from the small bathroom sink. The grill was disgustingly dirty. We spent close to an hour cleaning it before we felt comfortable using it. The gazebo is pretty from a distance, but there are holes in screen, wood around door is splintered and there is no warning of step down when exiting-which is dangerous. Outside areas are overgrown, not even pretty. Text owners to reserve time for a boat ride with tubing the next morning. Was informed that they were out of town for the weekend, and too expensive for them to return to do that. If we were insistent, they would return for double fees. We brought our own linens and put them on the couch before bed. No problems. The following night, I fell asleep on the other couch, which was just covered with blankets that were there. Woke up the next morning itching terribly. Had bites all down the side of my body that I sleep on. We left that day, a day early. Was checked the next day by medical professionals, and informed I had bed bug bites and treated accordingly. Then spent the day washing and disinfecting everything we had taken with.

This is a very unfair and "one-sided" review:
1. We contacted you ahead of time about your plans regarding boat rides and the lake use and you never responded. That's on you, not us. We can't sit "idle" because you don't communicate or don't know what you want to do. You also never mentioned tubing with kids. The booking was for four adults.
2. Our listing is making it very clear what to expect regarding kitchen and other amenities. We never received any complaints from people who read our listing or asked questions.
3. The gazebo, yard, and landscaping are always in good condition. The lawn gets cut at least once a week, we mulched all beds shortly before you arrived.
4. We almost exclusively only receive 5-star reviews, in particular, because of our cleanliness. We never had any bed bug issues in our home. Everything gets washed each time we turn over the space, and frequently steam cleaned. You brought your own sheets, so the only explanation is that you had brought them in on your sheets. We had renters after you with no issues whatsoever. They used our couches and blankets.
I understand that you were disappointed about the 4th washout. Bad weather is nobody's fault. Your profile says you haven't used VRBO much yet – that’s obvious. We hope you learn from this by communicating better with your hosts ahead of time and don't dump the issues caused by you, and fabricated by you on the hosts who are accommodating above and beyond.
The property was beautiful. Norbit was consistent and quick to respond. Unfortunately due to medical issues our visit was cut short. We enjoyed the outdoor portion of the property with its relaxing water views.
Nice comfy place in front of the lake. Good directions and responsive owners. The place is nice and clean. Comfortable bed, nice fireplace, TV, water and snacks provided. A nice little restaurants 3 mins away with the best chicken wings.
Incredible property! Hosts were some of the best ever.
Our long weekend stay was terrific. Such a peaceful and beautiful spot. Private entrance to lower level quarters was really convenient. Norbert and Tami were super responsive and accommodating. The reviews here are accurate. Will stay again!
We had a wonderful time at the house on the lake! Beautiful sunrise, and we enjoyed having coffee in the mornings in the screened-in gazebo. The view was beautiful, gorgeous weather, and Norbert & Tami were wonderful hosts. Norbert took us out on their boat. There wasn't much traffic on the lake - very peaceful - and our kids absolutely loved tubing. We saw eagles, played lawn games, had a bonfire - great trip! There was a restaurant a short walk away, and they had live music the night we were there. Tami is an exceptional cook, and we were so appreciative for the meal she prepared. (We brought home some of The Saucy Mamma sauce, salsa, Bloody Mary mix, and olive oil - my favorite is the rosemary-infused oil for dipping Italian bread.) It was a unique experience and made for a lovely trip.
We didn’t get to spend as much time at the property as we would have liked due to our own activities but our host was excellent and the property was beautiful.
The owners were very kind and hospitable. They offered some very fun yard games and tubes to swim. Even some cute kitties to snuggle up. We were just looking for some family time to relax, rest and connect. The set up was just perfect for our family to get away. Thank you for hosting us!

About the host
Hosted by Norbert Kreuzer
We lived here for over 16 years, and transformed our downstairs once the kids moved out. We are a fun-loving, outgoing, and social couple, always looking to make new friends.
Why they chose this property
The lake is a river-fed pristine swimming lake and very popular. Great fireworks around July 4th.
