Serenity on the lake
From the moment we were greeted by Jack, our stay at the Kelsey House was outstanding in every way. The house is stunning, down to every detail, you can feel the history and love that it holds which is very appealing to me, it evokes a feeling of “home”. Jack is a gracious host attending to any request or need. There is no doubt we will be back.

A wonderful escape to a Vermont paradise
We stayed here for two weeks. Jack, our host, was very easy to communicate with. (Even when I accidentally set off the smoke detector. Twice. :-/ ) His directions to the property were helpful, and any time we had a question, he answered quickly. The property itself was just lovely. It is an old Victorian that has been meticulously maintained and upgraded. Jack has thought of *everything* we could want. Over and over, I would think, "I sure wish I had ____." And then I would look in a drawer or closet and discover that it was right there! We wanted for nothing. (And if we did, Jack was quick to address our request and make sure we had what we needed.) For those who care about such things, the WiFi was up to our kids' standards - no small thing - which meant we had a stress-free vacation. We enjoyed daily kayak trips around the shores of Grand Isle. And when the weather wasn't cooperating, we had a stunning view and a cozy place to enjoy the rain. Last, but not least, we wanted sunset views across Lake Champlain, and boy did this property deliver! We enjoyed stunning views across the lake each night as the sun set on Adams Point, with the colors reflecting off the lake through the autumn-hued trees. I can't recommend this home more highly. It's a perfect retreat.

Heaven
Exactly what we needed...quiet and peaceful. The owner gave us plenty of space in the beautiful garden, but was available at a moments notice if we needed anything....including the best place to get ice cream

Peaceful getaway
Kelsey House is a wonderful lakeside property. The grand rap-around porch was most enjoyable. Everything was top- notch and Jack was a generous host. We much enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend this property. Our little dog enjoyed her stay as well. Great getaway, a true treasure.

Serene views of Lake Champlain from a picture perfect porch
My husband, daughter and I spent an absolutely lovely week at Kelsey House on Grand Isle. Even the couple of rainy days were well spent just reading on the huge wrap-around back porch. The property has been beautifully maintained and Jack was an ideal host - always just a text away if we had a question. If you want a relaxing, peaceful stay on Lake Champlain, this is the place. We also highly recommend the sandwiches at Heroes Welcome in North Hero!

About the host

Hosted by Jack Sartore

Host profile image
Jack and Sally bought the Adams Landing house in 1978. Sally had a rental and B&B business here for 40 years before she passed away in 2019. Now Jack strives to continue the tradition of hospitality that Sally established in weekly rentals at Kelsey House.

Why they chose this property

The most common reaction of our guests for forty years has been "paradise" or "a slice of heaven". Come sit on the porch and watch the sun go down after a day on your bike or out on the water, and you'll agree.

What makes this property unique

Try the porch swing or rocking chairs. Grill on the patio by the lake, have drinks and dinner on the porch at the corner table with the lake and mountain view. Listen to the waves on the shore. Watch a storm come across the lake. Wait for the heron to appear on the landing at sundown.
