About this property

This upscale house has two bedrooms and 1.5 bathrooms. It is a large home offering about 2150 SF for guests. The main bath is located just outside the bedrooms. The half bath is at the bottom of the stairs. The kitchen is spectacular with a double oven, 4 burner glass topped range, spacious microwave, full size fridge, nearly all possible small appliances, and extensive cookware. There are also small refrigerators and household air conditioners in the bedrooms. The upstairs sitting room offers a 2nd microwave too.
The house contains a living room, full kitchen, office area, 3 stool breakfast bar, wet bar, formal dining room with a 6 person dining table, laundry room, sitting/TV room upstairs, and large patio with a two tables and chairs, sun umbrella, barbeque grill, and hot tub.

Beautiful Historic home

What a comfortable warm home. Although we didn't spend much time in the home since we were visiting family for Thanksgiving we really enjoyed it. Hot tub, warm and inviting. Mary, our host, is a delight. I bet the garden is just beautiful in spring and summer!

Gig Harbor Retreat

We visit Gig Harbor several times per year, primarily to go fishing and crabbing on the Puget Sound. The Parsonage is one of our new favorite VRBO homes! Excellent location — walkable to our favorite cafe amidst beautiful, quiet, peaceful surroundings. Mary is a wonderful host and ensured that we had everything we needed. We prefer to prepare our own meals if blessed with a bountiful fishing/crabbing trip, and the kitchen is spacious and well equipped. Historic home with lots of character while also updated for a very comfortable stay. Highly recommend!

Nice place, great location

Charming older house that has been nicely updated, including a newer kitchen with lots of room and everything we needed. Best part is the location, just two blocks from the harbor. Great yard with good outdoor living area. Mary, our host, is very nice, and made sure we were comfortable and taken care of. We would definitely stay here again.

Great location and space but the owner was present a lot and we felt like we were under a microscope

The location is top notch! Property is cute and spacious. The outdoor garden is great as well. The owner lives here full-time so it feels a bit weird since all items are personal items rather than items meant for rentals. She came over for multiple HOURS every few days to check the property and water the garden. We felt as if we needed to leave each time and it was a lot. It really stressed my parents out and did not make the trip/rental feel welcoming or enlacing. The hot tub was also filthy and not usable. We tried once and water smelled terrible. Our bathing suits smelled awful and we had to wash all suits and towels immediately from the smell. Not chemical but just rancid.

The original 1901 house is still standing as part of a major renovation done in 2008. Husband John and Mary moved into the new house in 2009. The original house is 3 stories, was built by volunteers for the first minister of Gig Harbor, and was completed by Brother Andrew Jackson McNemee (ie. Brother Mac) at his own expense. Thus "The Parsonage". Mary was born and raised in Tacoma, met John in college and had 44 married years before he passed away in 2016. The Parsonage was featured in the 2017 Garden Tour. It was perfect for that event and it will never be perfect again. However, it is lovely. The large garden requires continual maintenance. Hot summer days require watering every 2-4 days depending on the temperature. Mary takes care of the garden and she will arrange with you the times she needs access to the garage for garden work. It is not hired out. Mary will not enter the residence during your stay. Previously a bed and breakfast, The Parsonage was awarded the best bed and breakfast business in Gig Harbor for four consecutive years from 2015 through 2018.

This home is delightfully located only four houses from Gig Harbor Bay, where you can enjoy the waterfront, marinas, shops, restaurants, boat, kayak and SUP rentals, parks, a seasonal farmer's market, festivals, summer concert bands, and people watching.

What makes this property unique

Views of gorgeous Mt. Rainier can be enjoyed from the property. There also is a small view of Gig Harbor Bay and moored boats from the property. Downtown Gig Harbor is vibrant but not noisy. Like this warm yet modern old Victorian house, there is quaintness in downtown Gig Harbor. Gig Harbor has almost all the services of big cities. What GH does not offer, Tacoma, only 15 minutes away will have it.
