About this property

Huge Lakeside Lodge has stunning views and an easy walk to its big dock!

As you enter the front door, the Lodge's elk welcomes you from its mount on a 24-foot-tall, stone fireplace. The enormous living room features mountain cabin décor with peeled logs from Mount St. Helens and Acacia hardwood floors. The entire south wall is a bank of windows that gives you a breathtaking scene of Lake Norris and its hills. Your glorious scene is private – no other house is in view.

The living room offers two comfy leather couches, a leather chair and ottoman, an overstuffed recliner, a stereo system, and a 70" HDTV with a DVD player, many DVDs, cable TV, free Netflix, Disney+, Amazon Prime, other internet services, and free WiFi. The living room flows into the kitchen with new slate flooring, a seventeen-foot-long granite island, and counter seating for seven. The kitchen is fully equipped to prepare and to serve meals for the entire lodge. It has two pantries, two sinks, two refrigerators (each with an ice maker), two full-sized dishwashers, two ovens, two microwave ovens, two coffee pots, two blenders, and a six-burner cook-top on a second, granite island.

The dining room is right next to the kitchen and features two beautiful oak tables and sixteen matching chairs. Two woodsy chandeliers and elk-horn candelabras make the perfect setting for your meals. To top it off, you have awesome views of the lake from both the kitchen and the dining room -- and nearly every other room in the lodge as well.

Your views get even better when you step through kitchen’s sliding glass door onto the large, two-story deck. Four tables comfortably seat twenty people on the new Brazilian hardwood deck. The grilling area has both a big gas grill and a charcoal grill, as well as a stainless-steel prep table. After your meal, an outdoor sofa and two swivel chairs beckon you to relax, put your feet up, and soak up the awesome lake view. If you walk down to the lower deck, a hanging chair and a hammock await you for the perfect post-meal nap.

The Lakeside Lodge has six master bedrooms, each with a king bed, private bathroom, television, full-sized closet, and lodge decor. On the lower floor, a Kid's Kamp area has two bunks that sleep six kids and features a “cave” full of pillows. These rooms can sleep up to 20 people, and if you need more room, you may also rent the Lakeside Lookout, an efficiency cottage on the property that sleeps four (Vrbo Property No. 1731053). The Lookout has its own private swimming platform/dock and superb views of Norris Lake from its deck.

The Lodge provides everything for your recreation. Downstairs, a giant game room has ping pong, Foosball, air hockey, giant checkers, a closet full of games and Legos, a TV with a DVD player, Netflix, and video games. The Lodge also gives you easy access to the lake. A short walk down a paved sidewalk (with no stairs) takes you down to a big, blue dock with two jet ski ports and a double, covered berth for your boats. At the dock, you can swim, float, boat, fish, relax on teak benches -- or swing on the double teak swing.

At the Lodge's private dock, you and your family can swim in a safe cove off the main channel and away from fast-moving boats. Our cove is only a five-minute boat ride away from the pirate-themed Sugar Hollow Marina and is less than two miles from the lake’s well-known jumping bridge -- a guaranteed thrill. And after a day of swimming, boating, tubing, and water-skiing, you and your family can watch the stars come out around our new fire pit, complete with a picnic table and circle of new Adirondack chairs. To top off your perfect day on the water, a crackling campfire and tasty s’mores await you!

To lay out the specifics, the Lakeside Lodge has three floors with these rooms:

MAIN LEVEL: (1) Main entrance with powder room off foyer, (2) big living room with wood-burning fireplace, (3) kitchen, (4) dining room, (5) huge deck, dining tables, and grilling area, and (6) Gray MBR #1 with king bed, lake view, TV, double sink with granite countertops, Jacuzzi tub by lakeside window, and full bath with tub/shower.

LOWER LEVEL (1) Huge game room with ping pong, Foosball, and air hockey tables, giant checkers, corn hole, and a Roku Smart TV with Netflix, a DVD player, many video games, Xbox, PS1, PS2, and Sega Genesis units, and a double closet full of board games, toys, puzzles, and 72 gallons of Legos, (2) Kids Kamp with two double bunks (each with a double bottom bunk), lake view, and entrance to “The Cave” (a closet camping adventure with winking stars in the ceiling, a toy campfire, and pillow animals), (3) laundry room with two extra-large washers and two extra-large dryers, wash tub, iron, ironing board, and laundry table, (4) lower deck with hammock and hanging chair, (5) Green MBR #2 with king bed, lake view, TV, full bath with tub/shower, and (6) Blue MBR #3 with king bed, lake view, TV, and full bath with tub/shower.

UPSTAIRS LEVEL: (1) Mauve MBR #4 with king bed, lake view, TV, window seat, and full bath with shower, (2) Gray MBR #5 with king bed, TV, and full bath with tub/shower, (3) Yellow MBR #6 with king bed, daybed with trundle, lake view, TV, window seat, and full bath with tub/shower.

COVERED DOCK: A paved, sloped walkway leads down to the fire pit area, which provides seating for 20+ and a picnic table. The concrete path continues down to the blue-roofed dock, which has two jet ski ports and a covered double slip for your boats. The dock features a swim platform and ladder, and ample seating on two teak benches, two teak chairs, two teak side tables, and a teak swing to enjoy your sunset over the lake.

OTHER AMENITIES: You'll have easy parking with three parking areas for all your guests’ vehicles and boat trailers. The Lodge also provides pots and pans, cooking, serving, and eating utensils, a hair dryer in each bathroom, hangers, a telephone land line, linens for each bedroom, fire detectors, and fire extinguishers. The Lodge has air conditioning throughout its 6252 square feet and sleeps a maximum of 20 people. The Lakeside Lookout is a cottage on the property that is also available for rent. It sleeps four people and has a king bed, a queen bed in a loft, full kitchen, deck with grilling area, lake views, and its own boat dock/swimming platform.

The Lodge is pet-free and non-smoking. You may rent it for a minimum of three days from mid-August to June (four-day minimum for Thanksgiving and Christmas), and if you rent for six days, you receive the seventh day free. From June to mid-August, you may rent it for a minimum of seven days, Saturday to Saturday.

The Lodge is part of Deerfield Resort, an exclusive, secluded area nestled between the Cumberland Mountains and the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains. As our guest, you have free use of the community swimming pool, tennis courts, and playgrounds. You may also patronize Deerfield’s 18-hole golf course, private airstrip, two restaurants, marina, and tiki bar. Deerfield Resort is about 35 miles south of the Kentucky border, eleven miles from La Follette, and 30 miles north of Knoxville.

And Norris Lake has it all. Its beautiful, blue-green waters cover 34,000 acres and span over 800 miles of shoreline. The clear, pristine waters of the Clinch and the Powell Rivers provide endless opportunities for recreation – including swimming, bridge-jumping, rope swinging, boating, water skiing, wake boarding, knee boarding, tubing, jet skiing, jet boarding, hydro-biking, kayaking, fishing, and charter fishing. Around the lake, you’ll also find great places for ATV riding, horseback riding, biking, and hiking. It's the ideal place for vacationers and sports enthusiasts!

Hanfor Group Reunion
This trip is with a group of guys (6) that have been friends for 60 + years all originally from Michigan. We met for several years with the wives for a yearly reunion. We were very pleased with our stay at Lakeside, just a absolutely beautiful home. Owners were great to work with, the views of the lake, awesome, so much room. Would encourage anyone to come and stay here at Lakeside Lodge.

Fun Friends Retreat
Everything was good. Plenty of room, exceptional kitchen, equipment & seating. A bit of TV difficulty that was resolved — not normally necessary but it’s football season. Location & boat dock fine. Everything as described. I would recommend!

Didn’t want to leave!
We love Norris Lake and the Lakeside Lodge met our expectations!!! The house had plenty of space to spread out. The covered deck was amazing, the game room served us well with a ping pong tournament and the dock was amazing and spacious for the fishing, swimming and relaxing that we had. The crew caught many fish of all kinds including multiple catfish, bass, and panfish. The swing on the dock allowed some peaceful moments down by the water. We thoroughly enjoyed our time and will likely be back again!

About the host

Hosted by Steven Ray

Host profile image
My wife and I live in Cincinnati, where I keep busy as a lawyer, a professor at Northern Kentucky University's Chase School of Law, and a landlord for our rental properties near UC campus. We love spending time with our family -- three children, five grandchildren, and two nieces. We especially love taking vacations as a family, and we like to include other members of our family -- siblings, in-laws, aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, and parents.

For years, our family vacationed for three years in a nice place -- like Lake Cumberland, the Outer Banks, and Destin, Florida. And then for various reasons, we moved on to another location. Then in 2015, we rented a vacation home on Lake Norris and returned the next two summers. But after three consecutive years, we still wanted to come back to Norris Lake. It was only four hours away -- not too far for our older children to drive with their young families. Not too far for our children in college to drive. And not too far for my parents to drive. Then we realized that if we bought a place, we could come down whenever we wanted -- all year long!

So we started looking for a place to call our own on Lake Norris.

Why they chose this property

In late 2017, we first walked through the front door of the Lakeside Lodge, and we knew we had found our vacation home. The lake views were breathtaking. The welcoming living room was awesome. We loved the huge fireplace, the elk, and the western decor. We loved the spacious kitchen and dining room, the six master bedrooms, and the big, two-story deck -- all with incredible views.

And we loved the Lakeside Lookout, the delightful efficiency cottage on the same property that has its own dock and stunning views. It assured opportunities for our quick escapes to the lake for just the two of us -- and maybe a couple of kids.

The Lodge promised great spaces for our family to have fun together. It had three floors, not four or five (like the other Norris homes we had rented). It had one giant kitchen -- not two on different floors. In its big rooms, our entire family can join in the same activity. All of us can all eat in the dining room. All of us can gather on the deck to watch the sunset. And all of us can watch a movie in the living room -- or play games in the game room. It was perfect for us.

What makes this property unique

We also loved the Lodge's special advantages too -- like its easy sloping path down to the lakefront. It has no stairs to the dock -- in great contrast with the other Norris homes we had rented, which had many flights of stairs down to the dock. At the Lodge, my parents, aunts, and uncles (and our small grandchildren) can walk down to the waterfront without difficulty. And our grandchildren love the Kids' Kamp, the Lodge's fun bunk room with its own "cave" full of pillows.

Finally, our docks are just the right distance from the main channel of the lake. Our dock sits in a cove 600 feet away from speeding boats, so our swimmers can safely play and float. The distance allows the wakes to dissipate so that we can dock our boats safely and securely. At the same time, it's not a fifteen-minute boat ride in a no-wake zone to get into water-skiing water. Sixty seconds from our dock, your boat can be out of the no-wake zone and pulling a tube loaded with kids.

We have discovered that the Lakeside Lodge and its little cottage, the Lakeside Lookout, is the perfect place for our family vacation. We hope you discover it too.
