This property is nestled on the east side of Lake Paradise, just southwest of Mattoon, Illinois. The home has a private master bedroom with a king bed and closet. The second bedroom is also private and has 2 queen beds. This property is furnished in a relaxing lake house style with a sun room, garage, fireplace and smart TV's with internet. Access to the lake with a private dock and outside seating. Sit on the couch and watch the bald eagles. Lake Paradise does not have a beach and we don't recommend swimming.

Lake Paradise

We had a good weekend staying at the place. We used the paddleboard and the dock, did some fishing andeven made a small fire in the fire pit.

Relaxing, cozy cabin!

We came to town to stay near the eclipse, and this cabin was great! It was super cozy and comfortable! We enjoyed the lake views and relaxing atmosphere! If we’re ever adventuring this way again, we’ll be back! Thanks!

A great lakeside getaway

The house was beautiful and quiet! Exactly what my girlfriend and I needed. Check in was easy, communication with Tom was great and the house was clean and decorated perfectly.

This place gelt like home. Everything was perfect. The neighbors were griendly and the home was so aforable and perfect. We will definitely be back. Perfect half way point to meet my sister. The fishing was great also.

A little slice of paradise

Absolutely perfect getaway from the city. The house had everything you need to cook and grill. It has its own dock and paddle boat with a perfect view of the sunset.

Cozy Retreat

We were in the area to visit family and this was the perfect home for us. The decor is amazing and feels so cozy. The hosts have provided everything you may need and the home is very clean. Communication with the hosts was easy and they are very responsive. I absolutely recommend staying at this property and will definitely come here again!

This is the third time I have stayed at this home and Every single time it gets better! I finally got to see a Bald Eagle and it made my whole trip. If you are looking for a beautiful home and a quiet stay this is it.

Home away from Home

We come to the area regularly to visit family. Staying at the Lake House makes everything a little bit better. We enjoy watching the birds on the lake and hearing the songbirds in the yard. Peaceful!

Wonderful lakeside cottage

This was our third time staying in this cottage. It has everything you need for a relaxing get away. The cottage is beautifully decorated with comfort in mind. The new stove and dishwasher were nice additions. We really enjoyed the view of the lake and fishing. Growing up in Mattoon this lake house is the perfect place for us to return and visit family. The owners are easy to communicate with and are very helpful.

COZY COTTAGE

Tom and Salisa were great! They met us upon arrival and showed us around the cottage. The cottage is adorable and one could not want for a thing, and the beds are super comfy. The lake is quiet and serene, and the sunsets are beautiful. Very quiet and cozy. Will definitely go back again. Thank you Tom and Salisa for sharing your sweet little cottage with us.

Mattoon getaway

The house was spacious, clean and decorated nicely. It was well stocked with everything you could possibly need. Unfortunately due to very dry weather the lake water was really low so we could not get out on the paddle boat. I would visit again but in the late spring or early summer. Meadowview golf course only 10 minutes away. Luigi's Italian Restaurant was very good.

Very relaxing

The property was great. Loved how it was decorated. Very beautiful. Very comfortable, bedrooms spacious, loved how there were mirrors in the bedrooms, alot of places with one bath should be more aware of that. Beds were very comfortable. We had a great time taking out the pontoon paddleboat, and just sitting in the sun on the dock. So very relaxing and tranquil. Will definitely be back. Thank you Tom

Great getaway!

We had a great weekend at the lake. Enjoyed the kayaks and fishing from the dock. House is very comfortable. Lots of amenities such as grill, fire pit, dock, kayaks, nice outdoor seating (and an outdoor tv! We didn’t have time to use that), garage, she shed, etc. Host wanted to meet us at property to show us around which meant we couldn’t be quite as flexible in our timing of arrival as we like to be on vacation. But ultimately we received the door code and were able to arrive at our convenience. We would definitely stay there again!

Perfect little getaway

We had such a wonderful weekend at this property. The owner, Tom, was kind enough to meet us there to show us around when we arrived. This little cottage is such a gem and is decorated so beautifully. It has great views of the lake and we spent most of our time out on the dock enjoying the view and fishing. Using the paddle boat and the kayaks was also a lot of fun. The house was super clean, beds were very comfortable, and all the amenities you need are there. We felt very much at home and will definitely return in the future. We were only upset that we couldn’t stay longer. Thank you to Tom and his wife for letting us enjoy their beautiful home.

Owner 's were very helpful, responded every time I had a question, property was was very clean .

This was partly are fault we did not realize the lake across from the cabin is not lake Matoon it is lake paradise, lake Mattoon you will need a $75.00 access sticker to be on there lake we are not sure if you need one to be on lake paradise because unfortunately we had really bad weather the 5 days we were there, maybe Tom knows the answer to this question? We did take a day trip into Arthur which is a small Amish town about a half hour away which was kind of fun. Just wish we had better weather so we could have enjoyed this beautiful aera a little more.

Salisa also works as an instructor and the division chair of the Humanities division at Lake Land College just south of Mattoon, Illinois. The Olmsted's love working on Victorian homes and have restored several over the years. Another property located in Decatur, Illinois is a Queen Anne, fully furnished with period decor and is available also through the portal. The Olmsted's call central Illinois their home.

Why they chose this property

We purchased this property so we could have a nice quiet place to get away from the grind of daily living. We stay several days a month depending on bookings. It's great to spend a weekend there relaxing with friends, maybe doing a little fishing or roasting hot dogs on the fire pit. Great little lake for unwinding.

What makes this property unique

it's a quiet place to unwind, do a little fishing, take out the peddle boat or kayak or just read a book. Just moments from Amish communities, wineries and Lake Shelbyville. The closest beach is at Lake Mattoon and is 6.2 miles from the cabin.
