We chose this home for our family of 3 couples because of its proximity to downtown where we were attending a music festival. It was perfect for us! It was easy walking distance to everything we wanted to do. We loved the historic architecture. The bedrooms were spacious, the kitchen was very well stocked, and there were many areas in which to to just sit and visit. We hope to stay here again!
Overall it was great experience.
Didn't realize it was on the main thoroughfare. Traffic was noisy.
Was close to downtown area though. Which was nice.though.
Our group came into Sedalia on the train from Kansas City, Columbia and St. Louis. We packed into backpacks and brought our bikes with us. The location of the house was perfect for us to arrive and bike to (less than 7 minutes by bike). The historic downtown location was perfect for us to avoid automobile transportation. We were within 2 minutes of the KATY trail as well.
The house was fantastic. We used each of the gathering rooms throughout the trip. We played cards in the large dinning room. We had coffee in the sitting room. We watched football in the main floor living room. We played board games in the upstairs living room. So much more. It was the perfect place for us, and would work equally well for you. I highly recommend the Broadway House!
Very nice, large historic home! Kitchen was updated and well stocked. Location was excellent, walking distance to downtown. Bedrooms were large with plenty enough room for all 10 of us. We will be renting again.
Stayed with a large family group over state fair weekend. The kids were enchanted with the historic property, the chef in our group felt right at home in the kitchen. Plenty of spacious, charming rooms and walking distance to a lovely main street with antiques, candy shop, restaurants and more. Host was very responsive to our questions. Great accommodations!
We were 6 friends attending a nearby wedding. This house had easy access to highways and to many cute shops with antiques and collectibles. The home was spotless in cleanliness and the kitchen had plenty of dishes and cookwear. So much space in this house for a large group or family. Another reviewer stated the pictures don’t do the house justice, and I agree. The home is decorated as if by a professional. The bedrooms are all upstairs but there is a 2nd full bath downstairs. This house is on a busy road so you will hear traffic noise which steadily decreased each night starting about 10 PM but don’t let this stop you from staying in this wonderful home.
Beautiful house from inside out. Host was very helpful and prompt with any request we had.
I absolutely loved the decorations in every room. The house was completely stocked and very clean. It was a perfect property for my family. Host was very helpful. I will definitely rent again here.
Our group stayed in town for a horse sale. This room has plenty of room for everyone to spread out or hang out together. It is a gorgeous home with original woodwork and beautiful stain glass and light fixtures and located walking distance from historical downtown Sedalia.
Large kitchen, well stocked. Lots of table space and lots of sitting rooms. Comfortable furniture and beds. The home was very clean.
The host was easy to contact and quick to.respond. very accommodating. We would love to return. Thank you for everything.
I love the feeling of older homes. This one is no exception. The updates to the home give it a modern feel inside. The house has plenty of room for everyone to spread out in their own space. We entertained a wedding rehearsal dinner and the guest had plenty of room to enjoy their meal and visit with each other. If you're ever in Sedalia and need a place to stay, I recommend this home.
We had an extended family reunion and stayed here with our immediate family and 6 grand children all 5 and under. The house was fun and like stepping back in time. It was challenging without a baby gate and it’s on a busy road so we were very thankful for the children’s sound machines to drown out some of the traffic noise. That should not inhibit you from staying at this lovely unique home.
First and foremost, if you appreciate history and architecture, the pictures don't do it justice. The woodwork tooling and stained glass features are amazing! Stained glass ceiling fan light cover was beautiful! Home smelled clean (not old or damp). The correspondence with the property owner, the local property manager and also the housecleaner were great! Timely responses! We only saw the housecleaner because I messaged the Owner on the first night (the basement is locked off for insurance reasons and that is where the housekeeping laundry is done) When we came for dinner, I saw the lights were on in the basement (no one was down there, they had been left on accidentally) We know this because we looked through all the windows! The next day, the housekeeper came and was so nice, giving us recommendations of places to eat and see.
The yard is beautiful and the kitchen is modernized. With a 5 burner stove and 2 ovens, it was very easy for meal prep! and there's a trash compactor (this was so cool and I think I showed everybody what it did)!
My only negative thing to say is that I have always had access to Propane grills at rentals, so the learning curve with charcoal changed a few of my dinner plans.
This was a phenomenal experience! You can sit and visit over a cup of tea in the breakfast nook or eat in the formal dining. The table was so big to roll out family trees and puzzles!
So glad to have found this property so I could feel like royalty!! Oh and so so so many photo opportunities, like on the front steps with the lions!!
This house is huge and fascinating. Super clean, plenty of space, nice beds, wonderful kitchen, and lovely, intriguing architectural features. There's even a koi pond in the back. Short walk to historic downtown, coffee shops and pubs. 5 star all the way!
Really enjoyed our stay. Wished the ice machine in frig had worked and traffic was a bit loud for these country folks! But would rent again and hope to again next year!
The house was WAY bigger than it looked in the pictures! Absolutely beautiful! 11 of us stayed there. Had 25 people over the next day for lunch after my dad's memorial service. Everyone was totally comfortable and we had a great time! Huge tall ceilings, beautiful house, lots of great places to gather. Kids loved it too. Back yard is in need of repair, but otherwise wonderful.
The house is beautiful. Very clean. I would stay here again

I grew up in Otterville, MO and was excited to be able to purchase the Broadway Place. My husband of 28 years and I have been considering owning our own Bed & Breakfast for quite a while. The Air BnB option suits us perfectly! This gives us the option to stay close to family still in Otterville and the surrounding area as well as continue our careers and raise our kids here in Colorado Springs. We have 5 children, 3 grown (2 married) and 2 still at home as well as 2 grandchildren. With our first grand-daughter due in December! We love to travel and have been blessed to visit Israel, France, Spain, Bermuda and the British West Indies. We have lived in 5 states and moved from east to west, settling in Colorado almost 15 years ago. I am a true foodie & enjoy cooking. There's nothing better than making a meal with friends, enjoying good wine and conversation around the dinner table. We have appointed the Broadway Place to do just that. My husband enjoys his Harley & being outside in the fall hunting. We like music and concerts and recently saw Andrea Bocelli and will be attending the Aspen Jazz Festival later this summer. We have traveled staying at Bed n Breakfasts (more recently Air BnB's) and love the comfort and hospitality we've experienced and now desire to provide the same to our guests.
Why they chose this property
I've always been attracted to older, historic homes with lots of character. From the moment my husband and I set eyes on The Broadway Place we wanted to make it our own. We had been looking for properties that met a dual purpose of serving as an investment as well as located near family. The Broadway Place was perfect. Having friends and family locally that we can now come and stay for longer periods of time is a great benefit. Also, having 5 children ourselves, we can certainly use the room! The location was also a good fit. Located on the edge of the Historic District makes walking to downtown a pleasure.
What makes this property unique
The Broadway Place has space! If you are looking for a great historic home to host friends and family, this is it! With 4 bedrooms, 7 beds it will accommodate 11 easily. And there is room to spread out too. Sitting rooms in the Master bedroom as well as the main level allow you to have your own personal space, even if staying with friends or family. If you prefer, you can relax out back on the deck and enjoy the koi fish. You're conveniently located to the Historic District with restaurants like the Ivory Grille or maybe a cold beer at the Craft Beer Cellar. You can bike the Katy Trail and are only minutes away from the Missouri State Fair grounds.
