Our blended family had a great time at this house. John was amazing and very attentive when/if needed! The house was clean, large, and had plenty of towels, toilet paper, paper towels, etc, for our large family to stay for 3 nights. Highly recommend! Thank you again, John!
Wonderful stay for two nights. Plenty of bedrooms for a full family plus friends. Backyard is huge with a nice deck/patio with outdoor games and a beautiful fire pit. Very convenient location, near everything. Only complaint is that two of the four bedroom window air conditioners are incredibly loud and we were unable to use them as they kept us awake. There were ceiling fans that did help in those two rooms. If the AC units are replaced/updated we would have no complaints. The owner left a very detailed note upon check-in with direct cell phone to contact in case of issues. I would not question staying here again.

Over all it is a great rental very nice place with a great storyline about when and how the home was built. Would highly recommend the house. We had a family wedding in the area and our entire family was able to stay in one place.
We were impressed with this historic home, and appreciated the large outdoor space to enjoy games and relaxation with tables and chairs aplenty. Celebrated a 30th wedding anniversary with the 8 people who stayed at the property and 8 others who joined in for a few evening hours.
We had a wonderful time. We loved how close the house was to Saugatuck. The house was beautiful and comfortable.

This place is a gem. The history of this location, the energy, the rooms all have a distinct feel of home. Communication with the owner was seamless and very receptive.
I only stayed one night but I am looking forward to booking a week stay. Such a wonderful place to stay.

I liked the size of this property. There was enough space for my family of 10. Kids loved the big yard. I didn't like all the insects/critters inside the house. The house felt abandoned.
Good overnight stop for us but prob would not do longer
No large seating area and no shower toiletries. The window AC units could be updated.
Kitchen was well stocked however bring your own coffee. Some bedrooms needed blinds Vs sheer curtain .
I booked this trip for a weekend in Saugatuck with my former coworkers for a mini reunion. It was the perfect location and size for our group of six. There was plenty of room to spread out. The beds were very comfortable and the water pressure in the showers was great.
It is walkable to downtown, probably around a mile. It is an old historic home but is nicely decorated, and it was very clean. The patio in the back and the outdoor fire pit are amazing! We had no issues during our weekend rental. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a rental for a group.
Such a lovely house, full of charm and character. Well stocked and supplied. Short trip to DT Saug. Loved every moment of our stay. Bed was super comfortable. Great space for our celebration. Absolutely loved the fireplace off the kitchen. Left wondering how to recreate the coziness in my own home.
Thank you. We will stay again.
The property was older, very spacious for 8, had everything u need and very nice. It is a home that you feel at home once you walk in. We truly enjoyed our stay there
Everything was within a Short distance and easy to get to. The owner was very nice and stopped by after we got there to introduce himself.
I recommend to stay here.
A light at the end of the drive would be nice as it gets super dark at night and hard to see entrance
We would definitely stay there again if in the area. 💕
There were 8 of us adults in town for a wedding. The property was clean and fresh! No "old home" smell which my sister is always worried about! 😂 Oh and thanks for having Static Guard in the laundry area! Life saver!!
The only bummer was the TV situation as the guys wanted to watch the football game, but were unable to due to no cable.
Otherwise, it was a great location and property!
Tip: If you are coming home when its dark leave a light on outside! It gets quite dark in the driveway area!

Girls trip
Although the location was great and the house structurally had charm, we were not pleased with the overall cleanliness of the home or the communication with the owner. The house was not ready at check in time, in fact we were rudely met by a gentleman still preparing the house, who never identified himself, that we later discovered was the owner. Little incidentals were lacking, like a welcome package with a book of general instructions, restaurant recommendations or even fresh coffee and a snack. It was very frustrating to connect to the television, as you had to stream it through your own devices. Especially during these times of covid 19, the cleanliness was not up to standard. There were numerous areas of cobwebs and heavy dust, the oven was filthy which make you question the overall cleanliness.
Dispite all of that, are stay in Saugatuck was a delight

Historic house with very old furniture and bugs
I'm sorry to say, but we did not have the best experience because 2 of the bedrooms were very disappointing. The downstairs small bedroom was infested with bugs coming in from the ceiling fan area and the upstairs small bed was not suitable for two people as it was uncomfortable and we did not sleep.
On the plus side, the master bedrooms were very nice and spacious as well as the backyard, which had a great fire pit and badmitton.
As far as the sitting areas, the couches in the living room were so old they felt damp and soggy. We all agreed that the house felt better suited as a museum than a VRBO. Either that or the furniture should be replaced to feel a bit more clean and inviting for people to want to sit on it.
Overall, we really needed 3 usable bedrooms, but my husband and I were out of luck as our other friends took the master bedrooms, since they were celebrating birthdays. The two of us got horrible sleep and weren't well rested for the wedding we came in town for. We felt that we didn't get what we paid for, so that was disappointed.
pros – house looked exactly like the pictures. Linens were soft, beds were comfortable. The house was clean. The outside fire pit area and yard was great.
Cons– house smelled musty. When you showered the water smelled like sewage, and then so did the house- we notified the host. In the upstairs bathroom the faucet at the sink and also the shower head never had more pressure than a trickle of water. None of the upstairs bedrooms have overhead lighting, so if was very difficult to see to put on make-up (we were there for a wedding)
Of note, not a pro or a con just things to be aware of: the house is multi-level and you can tell there were many additions so the floor is uneven in a lot of spots. There are signs that say watch your step, but you cant see these signs at night. The stairs are very steep and I could see how someone that was older or has difficulties with mobility or balance would have a very hard time getting up and down the stairs. The banister at the top of the staircase is not tightly secured and is wobbly. The front walkway of the house floods when it rains. You can’t leave out food or you will have small black ants. No full length mirror in the whole house
Was it fine, yes. Would I book there again, no.
