Built in 1840, it was restored and expanded, maintaining its farmhouse charm. It sleeps 8 comfortably in 4 bedrooms with king and queen beds. It is minutes from Sandbanks Park, the towns of Wellington, Bloomfield and Picton, and countless wineries, restaurants and other activities. It is luxuriously furnished for comfort and relaxation, with a chef's kitchen and beverage station for entertaining and gourmet meals. Sitting on four acres, it boasts a fire pit and limited access to West Lake and Sandbanks Park. Stunning modern bathrooms, with soaker tubs and rain head showers, and lush linens make for luxurious relaxation.

Weekend Retreat

Two of us chose to stay in this amazing, spacious, restful home. The chef's kitchen is outstanding. The bedrooms, bathrooms and living room are of five star hotel quality. And the view of the sun setting over the water just put it over the top. I would come back again in an instant.

Perfect Stay

Arthur and Lisa have assembled a wonderful experience for any group visiting the County. The quality of the house and amenities provided, along with Cathie's attention to our comfort, made for a perfect—albeit too short—stay. We definitely hope to visit again.

Giving thanks to Pettit House for a perfect Thanksgiving weekend!

Went searching for a place to stay for Thanksgiving weekend, the pictures of Pettit House were met with a resounding ‘YES!!!’ from our multigenerational family. We booked without hesitation. Upon arrival and entering the house, I heard gasps and squeals of delight as everyone took in the stunning surroundings, each room simply spectacular. Every detail has been thought of, and the property Manager Cathie is an absolute gem. We had been there but 30 minutes and already were asking for availability next year. We hope you have the opportunity to experience this warm, cozy and truly luxurious spot.

Absolutely stunning property

We had such a wonderful stay at Pettit House. The check-in process was superb, attention to detail in the house was beyond expectations. As soon as we walked in, I could feel my body relax. My husband and I, as well as our grown children and their partners, hung out, enjoyed cooking in the well-appointed gourmet kitchen and played games in the family room by the wood burning fireplace. We would absolutely consider going back. A great time was had by all.

Spectacular property inside and out. Designer elements in every room. Wonderful for three or four couples or a large family. kitchen and dining area enjoyed by our husbands. Property manager was superb. Appreciated fresh flowers, wine tasting and park passes Wow!!!!

Stunning

Now I know what it feels like to live like a billionaire. Everything about this property from the large (incredible fridge stove and coffee maker) to the smallest detail (wood for the fire pit, spices for cooking, games and even poker chips (we had brought our own because no property ever has them was exceptional. And we have to heap praise on property manager Cathy and owner Arthurthey promptly responded to every request and looked after our every need. Best booking ever.

The Perfect House, the perfect location

This is the second time my family has rented this house. It is a beautiful home on a beautiful property. We use it as a home base in Prince Edward County to visit the beaches, the wineries and shops. It is large open concept main floor with a gourmet kitchen we love to cook in. The bedrooms are beautiful. We will be back again.

Luxurious and calming

This home is a standout. We were delighted by every detail. The kitchen is incredible and at the heart of the home. Having said that, each room seemed to offer something special. Everyone had their own private space and there were bathrooms enough for all. Expansive windows in the back connected the indoors and outdoors. The location was perfect — close to water, wineries and interesting places. Cathie, the house manager, was a gem. We all fell in love with Cathie:). We had a relaxing, joyful and unforgettable stay. All six of us!

Five-Star Hotel For One Family

It felt like we were staying at a five-star hotel for only one set of guests. The farmhouse is an exquisitely renovated large home with a huge backyard of lush golf-course-like lawns that seem to go on forever. And it's just minutes down the road from Sandbanks park!

Beautiful cottage & experience

My girlfriends and I were thoroughly impressed with the Pettit House. Cathie (the house manager) went above and beyond to insure our stay in the house and our PEC experience was top notch. She even went so far as to offer recommendations for activities and food in the area. The attention to detail in the house in second to none and I couldn't recommend this cottage more for a group to stay at. Thanks again!!

Perfect place for a reunion

Very comfortable home away from home! Terrific amenities including a yoga/exercise studio. Beautiful and comfy bedrooms. Lots of alternative rooms to use for reading, playing games and having good conversations. Fireplace easy to use and kitchen facilities are very complete

Extraordinary property

Is the home that could be your own personal dream home. Every little detail has been managed extremely well. When you get into bed you’ll be shocked at the quality of the sheets. They could be frette! Plugs for devices are everywhere and conveniently located. The kitchen is fabulous and it could be a dream kitchen for many. The kitchen is also very well equipped. For eg, no Nespresso machine. But they do have a top of the line MIEHLE auto coffee maker! The garden is exceptionally beautiful with roughly an acre and a half of land going down towards the water, well treed, lots of open grass and a big fire pit. The many bedrooms are very private. The location of the house is well located between the sandbanks, several good farmers, the city of Picton, and Wellington, all these locations no less than about 15 minutes away. You will want this house!

Very comfortable family stay.

This is a very comfortable and extremely well equipped property. Communication with Arthur and Lisa was outstanding and the property manager, Cathie, was very helpful and supportive. Our only slight criticism would be a general lack of clothes hanging space in the bedrooms. But this is s really lovely property.

Birder’s paradise

7 of us there to do some birding, relaxing, biking and winery visits. We didn’t have to leave the property for the birds, but Sandbanks is very close as well. Cathie was extremely thorough in her initial walk through but was also prompt and helpful with any follow up questions. Tambo One Stop very close if you forget anything or just want a fresh pie or bread.

Beyond Expectations

I can go on forever about the property, the kitchen, the rooms, the ambience- suffice to say that everything was absolutely wonderful. The pictures don’t lie- it is actually a beautiful place where you feel instantly comfortable and want to return again and again. The entire stay was comfortable and enjoyable. Catherine (house manager) was flawless and was available at a moments notice. Dare I say that it exceeded some of our 5 star hotel stays. Great place. Thanks Lisa and Arthur.

Perfect weekend getaway!

Spent the weekend at Pettit House for a 40th birthday celebration. The house was so much better than we could’ve expected. As soon as we checked in and realized how luxurious the house was, we actually changed around our itinerary for the weekend so we could just spend more time there! Every detail was top of the line. Arthur and Lisa were so easy to deal with - even putting us in touch with a private chef who cooked our group an incredible dinner one night. And the property manager Cathie made us feel very well taken care of. My only regret is not spending another night at Pettit House. But we are already sorting dates for next year

We have kept the house name to honour the early Pettit Family Loyalists, who came to Prince Edward County in the late 1790's to escape the US following the Revolutionary War. We are happy to share the house with others to enjoy its tranquility and charm, while exploring the wonderful offerings in The County.

Why they chose this property

We chose to own in The County because of all the community has to offer - from wineries, to swimming at Sandbanks, cycling, snowshoeing and the many great restaurants. The Pettit House has historic charm that we instantly fell in love with, and we extensively renovated to provide modern amenities for excellent entertaining, while maintaining that charm.

A gourmet kitchen, with everything necessary to cook fabulous dinners. A drinks bar with wine and beer fridges and ice maker, and a built in Miele coffee maker for perfect cappuccinos and lattes.
