About this property

Relaxing, clean, and peaceful

Enjoy one of America’s best rated small towns in one of its best rated accommodations. Blowing Rock Bungalow is a bright, clean, comfortable, cozy, enchanting, and relaxing to stay. Only 1.5 miles from the center of Blowing Rock and across Goforth Rd from Blowing Rock golf course. Blowing Rock Bungalow is located on 1/2 acre (where deer are seen frequently) above this delightfully quaint town filled with boutiques, restaurants, hiking trails, beautiful parks, antique stores, and a village green where children can play as adults relax under the gazebo.

BRB is minutes away from the town of Boone, home to Appalachian State University, the Blue Ridge Parkway and its vast offering of nature trails. For the bargain shopper, the Tanger Outlet is just a few minutes away. After a day of mountain excursions, enjoy the sunset, wildlife, and mountain views from one of the two back decks or stone patio or curl up with a good book from our library in front of the floor to ceiling windows. Other nearby activities include Price Lake, Tweetsie Railroad, gem mining, Moses Cone Park, the Blowing Rock, Zip Line, and many activities for the whole family.

Additional information:
This bungalow is easily accessible from the circular driveway - with plenty of parking space available. The property extends from the 'bear box' metal trash container on the right of the property (level to the street) to the rhododendron bushes on the left side.
No steps to climb! Cozy, Bright, Comfortable, Clean describes this two story, two bedroom, two bathroom bungalow. Second bedroom is tucked away at the base of a spiral staircase. A 4 foot wide wooden staircase (exterior) connects upper and lower decks. With two queen beds, a double futon and a twin air mattress, this bungalow is able to accommodate a total of 6 people. Enjoy your complimentary cup of coffee or tea, and breakfast bar on the back porch or the kitchen table overlooking Grandfather Mountain. Relax on Adirondacks on the stone patio with the fire pit or play games in the large back yard with friends and family. Hiking, golf, and the outlet mall are all nearby. Boone is a 15 minute drive. Brochures and maps are located on the coffee table. DVDs, games, and puzzles are inside the coffee table. If you are ambitious and enjoy walking, you can get to to Main Street along Sunset Drive. We provide light snacks, water bottles, sodas, oatmeal, coffee, creamer, tea, and other beverages. If you have a special request, let us know and we will do our best to accommodate you!

Check in and Check Out instructions:
Text me with any questions: Nancy 919-604-4680. Calls to my number go directly to voicemail.
Messages on the Air BnB or VRBO apps can be delayed up to 24 hours.

Firepit:
After removing the cover, follow instructions on the side of the firepit step by step, to light it. Please allow it to cool and then replace the cover after each time you use it, so it does not get wet. NEVER USE WOOD, STICKS OR PAPER, AS THIS IS A FIRE HAZARD. The gas propane tank ignites and heats up the rocks inside the pit.
Lights on back deck:
The light switch on the left of the refrigerator will turn them on. To use the light beside the back door on the upper deck, there is a pull chain located on the side of the bulb.
Heat/AC:
White remotes on the walls of bedrooms and family room are used for air conditioning/heating. Adjust them in 2 degree increments by touching the ‘too warm’ or ‘too cool’ buttons until they gradually reach the desired temperature. If they are set more than 2 degrees from current temperature too quickly, air vents will close.
Toilets:
Please flush only toilet paper. The septic tank gets clogged with any other items, including tissues.
Trash:
Pick up is on Tuesdays and cans are located in the ‘Bear Box’ on the side of the driveway, close to the street.
Security:
Two outdoor cameras are on front and back porches for your security. Lights on front porch and at the driveway automatic turn on at dusk and go off at dawn. A motion detector light is located by the basement door on the lower left side of the house.
Indoor Activities:
If the weather is keeping you inside, check out the Watuga County Recreation Center at 231 Complex Drive, Boone. (828-264-9511) In the family room coffee table and TV stand, you will find board games and puzzles.
Outdoor Activities:
Hammock and a yard game are located in the lower level bathroom closet. Hooks for the hammock are on the lower level deck. Across Goforth Road: Walking on Blowing Rock golf course cart paths after 7 pm, Trails behind BR Conference Center.
CHECKING OUT:
Set the two Mitsubishi heating/AC units on the main level and the one unit in the lower level bedroom at 78 degrees in the summer and 61 degrees in the winter.
Please empty all indoor trash cans into the kitchen trash container, tie bag, and place the bag in the outdoor trash can in the ‘bear box’ on the driveway by the street before checking out.
Please remove only sheets, pillow cases, bath mats, and towels and place them on the laundry room floor.
Please empty coffee grounds and wash dirty dishes and leave them on a towel on the side of the kitchen sink.
Turn off the back porch lights if you used them, along with all other lights.

Very Nice Getaway
We had a very pleasant stay at this cute bungalow near Blowing Rock and Boone. It was clean and well-stocked and very convenient to the areas we would be spending time in over the weekend. Our communication with the owner was efficient and timely. We enjoyed our time here very much!

About the host

Host profile image
Hi, and thank you for reading this profile! I am a retired NC special educator with 4 grown children, ages 30-37. After living in IN, TN, KY, MO, and RI myself and my 4 children have settled in North Carolina. My husband and I live in the Charlotte area and I manage and clean the property myself each week. I employ a maintenance man to keep the property in the best condition possible. I love my octangular shaped home with the large floor to ceiling windows that look out onto Grandfather Mountain and I love to share it with others too!

Why they chose this property

I enjoy bringing joy to others by providing a home in which you can create memories and develop relationships in a setting that is conducive to outdoor activities; from sledding and skiing in the winter to hiking and just relaxing in the Adirondack chairs around the gas firepit or hammock during the other seasons. My home is situated on a half acre consisting of seasonally flowering plants and trees and a large grassy back yard. Inside you will find cozy and comfortable bedding and unique Bearfoot Bears throughout the home. Ceiling to floor bookshelves in the front room are filled with books for all ages. There's a hammock for the back deck and sleds for the gently sloping driveway on the side of the property located in the lower level. Games and puzzles are in the coffee table and TV stand. Spectrum streaming on the TVs provide national and local news as well as movies and series to watch.
