About this property
Mountain Air Retreat
This home has two private living spaces - we live on one side, and the other side is for guests. Our spacious and cozy ranch house has beautiful views, comfortable and clean rooms, plenty of natural light, and a large grassy lawn for games and lounging. With natural hot springs nearby, and a quick drive to the incredible City of Rocks National Reserve and Pomerelle Ski Resort, this is simply the best getaway in southern Idaho.
The Space The guest side has four bedrooms upstairs, one bedroom on the main floor, large common room with access to back deck, dining room, full kitchen (fridge, oven, stove, dishwasher, microwave), two and a half bathrooms (an additional third full bath with laundry is available upon request.) Plenty of parking and enormous lawn with waterfall and fire pit (limited use depending on season).
The first 4 guests are the listed base price, and each additional guest is $30 a night. Please give us an accurate head count when booking. If you need to update the guest count, just let us know. Any additional visitors not registered in the booking will be asked to leave.
Guest Access You’ll have full access to all the guest rooms, living room and kitchen. As mentioned above, we do share a roof and a wall, but there is no shared spaces. Occasionally we will be out in the yard taking care of maintenance.
Please Note... We also run another business on site - while rare, it’s possible we’ll have a client at the property in the office (separate from the guest area). We’ll let you know ahead of time if we have any appointments to give you a heads up.

Beautiful place. Spacious. Clean. Close to Pomerelle which was the purpose of our trip. Marnae was very responsive and very helpful throughout the whole process.
Property is lovely, beautiful setting, easy access. VRBO was all good. As others have said, the property is not completely private and there are quiet hours. Great stay and would stay here again!
We had a great time with family and friends. House was spacious and a great layout for multiple families. Communication with the host was prompt and easy. Check in/check out process was easy and painless. We would love to com stay here again!
We stayed at the Mountain Air Retreat for a family ski trip. We had a great time relaxing. The fireplace was gorgeous, windows all around to see the beautiful scenery, and very comfortable beds. Extremely clean as well. Thanks for having us!
We come to this area every year at Memorial Day to spend time with extended family. This is our favorite place to stay. Lots of room for our family, beautiful views, kitchen has all we need to feed our group for the weekend, and the yard is so peaceful to lay in our hammocks and relax.
We loved our stay at this beautiful home away from home! Owner was helpful and friendly. House was spacious and comfortable. Views and outdoor space was amazing! 5 ⭐️
It is our 2nd year in a row when we visited the Mountain Air Retreat. Similarly to the 1st time, it was a great experience. We are planning to come back next year as well.
The house was clean and had great views. Only complaint is that there is a door in the kitchen that leads to the owners home which is part of the house. She can enter into the guest section and instead of going to the front door of the home she communicated through the kitchen door. Also, we were able to hear through the walls to her side and felt we needed to be extra quiet as to not disturb their side.
It is just an amazing property and place: A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!
The property is new and in great shape: Amazing Exterior and Interior. It is probably designed by some designer, with great taste, colors, and details. It is the best property I have ever rented. Very spacious, many bed rooms and bathrooms. Kitchen very well equipped. Whole house has ceiling on both floors, while high ceiling in living room is super high and goes through both floors. The living room has charming fire place. Simply amazing. With all of these, there extra extra fridge, folding tables, chairs, etc. Whatever you need: You ask, and the property manager gets it. We have been there during Christmas and the manager got us Christmas tree and decorated whole house.. Guys, the property is simply EXCELLENT.
The surrounding area is also EXCELLENT. You can see beautiful mountains from living room, kitchen, dining room, patio. You can find there calm and rest. We were there for skiing in Pomerelle Ski Resort that is 15 minutes away. The front and back yards are also done with taste: wherever you go, it is a pleasure to spend time there.
The property manager/owner is GREAT. Per my request, she introduced us to the house, what to turn on where, etc. She lives in another part of the property, but I have seen her only during check-in and check-out, and it is per my request – I just wanted to talk to her. We communicated more often by text messages – she was responding very fast, but I do not understand why would anyone prefer to text or email instead of talk to the very nice lady.
Guys, I am going to come back there as fast as possible.. I am living 10 hours away, so probably next year. If you look for spending your time in beautiful remote area, where you want to rest in I would say luxurious conditions, it is simply the best place.
We stayed here with my Dad and our adult children for a reunion with extended family nearby in Elba. It was more than large enough for 8 adults. The kitchen was very well stocked, lots of room on the lawn to play games, and we loved the indoor/outdoor fireplace. There were no negatives about this place.
The host and her home are lovely. Overall, 5 stars. However, What was not obvious from the listing is that the host and her family are living in a wing of the home while you are staying there. So there are quiet hours to be observed from 11pm-7am; not terrible, just not great for a bunch of guys who want to stay up late drinking and playing cards and barbecuing on vacation; really not conducive for a long bachelor party weekend. It was also not apparent from the listing that the Home is primarily used as a women’s psychotherapy retreat. So We were surprised nearing/upon arrival to discover that not only would we be meeting the host (instead of maybe just retrieving a hidden key or receiving a keycode), but that the host would be staying quite literally in the next room/“in-law-style suite” adjacent to the kitchen the entire weekend, and that it was even possible she might see a psychotherapy patient in her private office in the middle of the house at some point during our stay (?)... So, less-than-ideal for a planned bachelor party full of activity. There are no masculine touches in the decor of the home - certainly not a dealbreaker - and you have to be OK with “girly” inspirational quote signs everywhere you look. The home itself is also not made of rustic frontier materials as it appears but is 2012-new construction of lightweight “rusticated” faux everything and façade. The fireplace is gas and not wood-burning (although it does pass through to the outside deck which is sweet), there is a dedicated yoga room, and there are no trophy animal heads/Taxidermy like you might expect of a place that looks like a quintessential frontier mtn lodge in the listing. The home is in the middle of nowhere, which is what we were looking for for a bachelor party retreat, but I give the location four out of five stars because it is 2-3 hours away from activities; sure, you could hike the nearby ski resort mountain in the off-season, or drive 20 minutes to go rock climbing. I (from NYC) was looking forward to stargazing but disappointed by the new super-bright LED utility lights shining on the back deck and the driveway from the electrical poles. We still had a lot of fun in our 4 days; we attended the Gooding Pro Rodeo, went Whitewater rafting on the Snake River, hit the swimming pool-style hot springs, and went to see the most scenic attractions (the “Niagara Falls of the West, and Craters of the Moon), all of which are at least 2-3 hours drives.
The home was very clean, modern and beautiful. The grounds were also very nice. It has lots of bedrooms and bathrooms. We loved the big kitchen table and benches. The kitchen is very well stocked with everything you need. We enjoyed a relaxing getaway with our family. We took a drive to the city of rocks, but mostly just enjoyed time at the home. A tv would have been nice, but we brought our own.
Great home with beautiful views and proximity to BLM land and Pomerelle ski resort. Wish there was a TV available for viewing.

About the host
Hosted by Marnae
I love to travel with my family, see new places, and experience new cultures. I run a retreat center for women and couples. I'm a phone call away. Our family lives in a separate, private section of the lodge. We keep to ourselves, but are happy to help with anything you'd need.
Why they chose this property
Our little retreat is just a small corner of what used to by my father's 1000 acre cattle ranch. It's been in the family for over 45 years.
