The Neighborhood:
Hawk's Haven is one of a handful of luxurious lakeside cottages located in the Scott Lakes area of Lee Township, Michigan. This peaceful town is a popular destination for vacationers looking to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday urban life with family, friends, and even co-workers.

Summer brings the fun of boating, swimming, picnicking, and relaxing. The autumn colors are spectacular around the lake and area. Enjoy the area's winter sports like skiing, sledding, cross-country skiing, and ice skating. Spring brings the lovely colors of the flowers and leaves bursting into new life, invigorating your soul and mind after the long winter.

The cottage is 10-15 minutes away from Crane's Orchards and Dutch Farms, famous for delicious pies and fruit picking. On the way to the orchards is the Fennville Winery, offering tours, and wine tastings. If you like antiquing, it does not get better than this - there are many antique stores within 20 minutes, either in South Haven, Allegan, Douglas, and Saugatuck or along Blue Star Highway. In the summer dune rides are a blast and the South Haven beaches are gorgeous. Go fruit picking for cherries, blueberries, raspberries, and apples in nearby orchards. Art galleries in the area offer a wonderful selection to take home as souvenirs. Take your own kayaks to different lakes and rivers - but don't forget your paddles and life jackets!

Upper Scott Lake is only 15 minutes from downtown South Haven or Saugatuck and 25 minutes from Holland.

Wedding Weekend
We stayed at this home because it was only about 10-12 minutes from the wedding venue for our daughter, Black Sheep Shelter. We had family from PA and MI there, 15 adults in total and it never felt as if we were on top of each other. Plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms and the pool table got much action over the weekend. Elizabeth communicated very well with me and all in all we had a great weekend.

Extended Family Vacay
I loved the privacy and how quiet it was! The house was very spacious and had most of what you would need! It would have been nice to have a baby gate available at the property to put at the beginning of the hallway to contain the young kids in the living area so if I were to return I would definitely bring one if one couldn’t be made available! The windows looking out onto the lake make for beautiful views but also warms the house up very quickly. Shades would be a great addition! Lastly the rooms are already pretty small so removing some of the bulky furniture would be helpful. Some of the furniture has seen it’s better days that’s for sure. I don’t mean to be too critical those are just things I would suggest. Otherwise the home is nearly perfect and I had a wonderful week with my family. Would definitely return again. Almost forgot to mention an earlier check in time would be great! By 5pm you’ve already lost an entire day!

Family Vacation
Property was great for family time together. The kitchen was well appointed with a table large enough to enjoy meals and games together, clever layout with two rooms for groups to gather and relax, the entertainment of the game room, well designed fire pit, large yard, and easy access to the lake and dock.

Hawks Haven
Excellent maintainence team, was there each morning cleaning up after the geese. Cleaning crew had the Cabin in tip top shape for our arrival. Yard had plenty of space for yard games and fishing for bluegills from the dock was a hoot, caught one on every cast and returned it to the lake. Very happy with our stay.

A week with family
We had a great week on Upper Scott lake in this rental. There were 12 of us - 6 adults and 6 kids, and felt the rental was plenty spacious, offered things to do and there wasn’t anything we felt wasn’t provided that we needed. Renting the kayaks and paddle board gave us additional things to do beside the canoe. Would consider staying here again.

About the host

Hosted by Elizabeth Kosten

Host profile image
I was raised in southwest Michigan, in the Grand Rapids area, and I have always reveled in the natural beauty to be found here in our Great Lakes State. I just love being near the water, so any chance I get to be near a lake is a perfect opportunity for me to relax and unwind. I hope you get to know our beautiful state when you stay with us because to know it is to love it!

Why they chose this property

I was immediately drawn by the natural beauty of the lake and the area nearby—not to mention the extensive outdoor activities and peaceful surroundings. Since then, I have made it a priority to spend as many summer weekends in the area as I can.

What makes this property unique

This home was conceived and built specifically to cater to large groups and families who want to escape the mad rush of daily life and spend time growing closer to one another while experiencing all the tranquility and enjoyment that "life on the lake" has to offer. We have worked to provide a balance of comfort, functionality, charm, unity, and fun throughout our home and grounds. We even designed our outdoor spaces to provide maximum opportunities for gathering together to enjoy good meals and good conversation. We sincerely hope that the breathtaking lake views from the great room and lake-facing deck will inspire and astound you as much as they do us. We love creating welcoming spaces that draw you in with their charmingly-decorated rooms designed with great care, and our greatest desire is to see you return year after year so you can continually create memorable moments with those you love.
