Near of Gulbenkien Foundation, with its marvelous landscaped gardens, notable art colections of the Gulbenkien museum and famous center of modern art and classical music concerts. Lisbon family vacation

Wonderful property full of history in a great location with restaurants, cafes and grocery stores within walking distance. Paula was very easy to contact and very accommodating to our needs. Our family was ages 8-71. Short flight of stairs up to first floor apartment. I would stay here again

Perfect for us

We are an extended family of 7 and were looking for a place where we could all be together with a good location. We found that and more. As shown in the photos, the space is huge and beautiful. What a perspective renter might miss is the rich history. Paula was took the time to meet with us as we checked in and shared historical as well as practical information. The location is great, two and a half blocks from the metro, in walking distance to tons of restaurants, grocery stores and banks. Highly recommended.

Lovely neighborhood close to metro & airport

This apartment is located in a lovely neighborhood with a variety of nearby restaurants on offer. We didn‘t have the pleasure of meeting Paula, the host, but Jorge, her stand-in, did an excellent job of welcoming us to the apartment, explaining the details and also providing some fantastic inside scoop on visiting nearby Sintra. The 5 bedrooms with 2 separate bathrooms was manageable for our group of 8 adults. I’m not sure how comfortable one of the bedrooms will be during a hot summer day since there is no external ventilation. The other 4 had windows (3 inner courtyard, 1 of them to the street). Overall we enjoyed our stay there.

Why they chose this property

Although the building is from 1914, my family only came here to live about 20 years later. The apartment was first rented by Grandmother Conceição, single mother of the girl Teresa. In order to be able to pay the rent to the owner, Grandma Conceição rented the remaining rooms to students. It was only later, when Teresa married Henry, that they decided to buy this apartment. For many years lived in the house, Grandma Conceição, Mother Teresa, Father Henrique and son Arthur and years later my mother, Maria.

What makes this property unique

Donapart is an apartment with an emotional connection. Donapart is meant to be a tribute to all these people in my family. So each room has each of its names.

Dona Maria Room - It's a tribute to my mother. Housing with an Empire style bed, which developed in France in the early nineteenth century, at the time of the proclamation of the First French Empire (1804-1814) by Napoleon Bonaparte.

Dom Henrique Room - It was my godfather and as such the decoration was inspired by the Henry II Style dresser of the early 19th century, an antiquity over 100 years old.

Room Dom Arthur - Arthur was the son of my godparents and, having graduated in Germanic and being a teacher of English, we put in his room a bookcase Olaio filled with dictionaries and books of the history of Portugal.

Room Dona Teresa- My godmother loved to sew and so we put some of her work on the walls.

Room DONA CONCEIÇÃO - In 1934 Grandma Conceição went to live in this apartment and to pay rent rented the rooms to students. All the decoration is made with traditional Portuguese elements, such as mafra grind, porcelain swallows and some pictures with images of typical Lisbon buildings, such as the characteristic kiosks, Campo Grande, etc.
