NEW BEACHFRONT HOME ON THE BEACH IN THE JUNGLE. Monkeys overhead daily. Scarlet macaws, toucans, sloths, and lots of monkeys overhead. Armadillos, anteaters, and other amazing wildlife on the grounds. Whales & dolphins, pass in front. One of the most private beaches in the area, at low tide. A freshwater pool, great surf spots, jungle hikes, yoga classes, good restaurants, and a great locals' bar, most within walking distance. Plus, the best on-site host/caretaker ever, Oscar!

In the jungle!

John’s place is amazing. Experience the jungle right on the beach. If you want to feel like you are camping yet having all the comforts of a well equipped cabin this is the place for you to stay.

Best place to relax and breathe pure and clean air.

This house has everything you need and host keeps it very clean. I was so impressed of how close to the beach it is and so sound it by nature; the sound of waves from the ocean was definitely a plus. When we first arrived the first thing we saw was two happy and cute monkeys on the very top of the matapalo tree. It made us take some time to start admiring the beauty of that place. I didn’t have any issues. John and Oscar were always very reachable for questions or advice. I would definitely go back to that “stress reducing” place where you can only breathe pure and clean air.

Great nature location

Birding & nature viewing is great on & near property. When we hiked we ran into nature tours coming from town to the area to view birds/nature. Beach view is beautiful, but rocky-I would not swim.. & while hiking both directions from it we never found a path to a safe beach for swimming.Owner very responsive but it was sometimes hard to get a hold of the on-site manager; though he is very helpful & kind when we did; minimal English so you need to know Spanish or have ability to translate messages. He transported us to & from activities for a fee. No AC.They will do laundry for you for a small fee, & did a great job. There were large bugs in bedroom; this is definitely a rental for those that love to be in nature & off the grid but have access to bathroom, cold shower, fridge, stove. It's about 40 minutes from Jimenez. It did not cool off much at night so if you have a travel fan or cooling cloth, bring them.Stop at BM store on way there for food and drinks.Well water is safe to drink here. There is a small pool that is river fed on property between the houses; it was warm but it was VERY hot when we visited so it might not always be like that.

Another day in Paradise

Matapalo is such an amazing place to be. Very rustic and beautiful and the caretake Oscar and his family will make you feel right at home. Having the only restaurant that I know if in the area within walking distance is a plus too, tho the full kitchen and refrigerator allow for stay at home dining if you don't want to stray far from the hammock.

Very relaxing place

A wonderfully simple and relaxing beach house with basic amenities including WiFi! This property is 5 minutes from Pan Dulce and a short walk to Martina's Bar and Restaurant. Parking is a bit tricky and I would not suggest a large SUV attempt to navigate down the narrow driveway between the coconut trees. I had no problem in my 1993 pathfinder, but a Toyota Prado sized SUV may be a bit too big. Overall a great value. And of course Oscar the care taker and his family are 5 star people!
