Famous Fishing History - Magnificent and Popular Area …
Bredene is a renowned family seaside resort which is in a central location on the Belgian coast. It is only 20 km from the famous towns of Bruges and historical Damme
and the polderland villages of the Zwin area. The town, which dates from the Edwardian era, is in Belle Epoque style and is the proud owner of 11 km of fine beach sand, equivalent to 1/5 of the Belgian coast. The golf court of De Haan (18 Holes)
has an international reputation.
This is the place for sunbathing, swimming, leisure fishing,
playing a game of volleyball or football with your friends,
flying kites, building sandcastles, enjoying a romantic stroll in the sunset or going for a brisk walk along the water edge.
The pink, yellow and cream coloured pastel colours of many of the villas and hotels, the winding paths and the masses of greenery will offer you the heavenly peace you need, combined with a good portion of healthy air rich in iodine. So the old-fashioned picturesque little tram house is the ideal advertisement for this seaside resort.
In West-Flanders, you can discover the most exciting theme parks and also a number of zoos.
Just outside of Bruges city centre, the Boudewijnpark provides relaxation and excitement. Not only at the numerous attractions but also at the breathtaking performances at the largest and most modern dolphinarium in Europe.
Along the coast, you will come across Plopsaland (the former Meli Park) in Adinkerke-De Panne, the new home harbour of Gnome Plop [Kabouter Plop], Samson and Gert and their friends.
Anyone looking for a day in "paradise" should definitely visit
the Bellewaerde Park in Ypres/Ieper, where the exotic animals
will make you go all soft and mellow and the tropical wild water
will pleasantly give you Goosebumps.
The Tropical Butterfly Garden, which boasts more than 350 living specimens. The 35 types of tropical butterflies, is located in Knokke-Heist. Just like the nature reserve "Het Zwin", which provides a unique setting for any
adventurous walker with its vast mud flats.
The Sea-Life in Blankenberge has become renowned
as a rescue centre for sick or injured seals. The Sea-Life centre now also offers a breeding programme for seahorses as a brand new attraction.
