La Maison du Passeur sits at the entrance to Clos Chassepline, of which it is an outbuilding, located in a one hectare park with century-old trees, perfectly maintained. Built in 1789, it once housed boatmen sailing on the Cher. It was renovated in 2017 by us to combine modern comfort with the charm of old stone. It is a place that invites you to rest, relax and discover nature and animals, while being less than five minutes on foot from the food shops in Saint-Aignan. The pool area, enclosed by walls, is located at the bottom of the park, a sunny and wonderfully quiet corner, away from nuisance. You will only hear the birds, the rustling of the trees and the lapping of the banks of the Cher which runs along the property. The place is ideal for enjoying peace and relaxation in a magnificent setting!
The house is 150m2 on two levels, has a living room of over 50m2 and an equipped kitchen on the ground floor, two large bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs The first bedroom is equipped with a Queen Size bed and two 90x200 single beds. The second bedroom, charming on its mezzanine, is equipped with a Queen Size bed, in an attic space, and on the floor, a reading area equipped with 2 single bench seats / child 70x140. The kitchen and the living room open onto a private terrace equipped with a garden furniture for dining outside in summer. At the bottom of the park is the swimming pool area, which you can enjoy in season, from the beginning of May to the end of October, to be shared with the other outbuilding of the Chassepline and its two guest rooms. From your bedroom window, you can admire the park where free-roaming chickens and ducks roam and a little further, the Castle and the collegiate church of the city of Saint-Aignan. In the deep velvet sofa, you can take advantage of the libraries available to you, cool in summer and warm in winter, thanks to the fireplace in the living room. Parquet, tomettes, velvet and linen, everything is there to make you feel at home. To facilitate your arrival, beds are made and towels are at your disposal. We also provide you with organic washing products for the whole family, as well as coffee, tea and kitchen essentials.
La Maison du Passeur is located, like the Pigeonnier, on the Clos Chassepline property. It is a green setting of three hectares on the banks of the Cher, at the crossroads of three provinces: Sologne, Touraine and Berry. It is located opposite the medieval city of Saint-Aignan-sur-Cher, and offers a breathtaking view of the Castle and the 12th century Collegiate Church. A mansion, in which two guest rooms are available, overlooks the park. Outside the park, a meadow shelters a white donkey and a Solognote sheep, a typical species which is the subject of a conservation plan. Behind an old stone wall, the Chassepline vegetable garden is renewed each season to offer seasonal vegetables and an orchard offers a fine production of old varieties of apples, pears, peaches and cherries.
For groups of 8 to 14 travelers: we offer another accommodation (Le Pigeonnier) located in the Chassepline park. The two houses are ideal for family or friends gatherings, thanks to the large living room of the Maison du Passeur, where you can meet around a fireplace and a large farm table that will know easily accommodate large tables. Do not hesitate to contact us if you wish to rent both at the same time!
