The Jamaica House (Cabin) is located one Km. into the forest of the Blue Mountains and offers safe exclusion and spectacular panoramic vistas of the Grand Ridge. A vision a decade and a half in the making, the BMWR caters for genuine nature lovers who want to escape from the frenetic urban setting to be either pampered (catered to) or to be immersed in all aspects of the outdoors -backpacking adventure, DIY lifestyle and camping/tenting. Managed for conservation, the biota is spared toxins from pesticides and other fertilizers, the site has a low carbon footprint, water is rain harvested and lighting solar powered. Perhaps what makes the BMWR so unique is the special relationship with the community who support and host visitors to the site. The Retreat is not only an important source of employment but also their pride and joy which they share with visitors.
The Jamaica House Cabin nestled in the side of the mountain offers awesome views of the forest and surrounding hills through its large glass windows. There is a 2-story common dining and recreation area along with a kitchen allowing for catered or U-cook options. Toilets are outdoors and the showers are open sky, There are hammocks, a balcony and an infinity stage for relaxation and viewing.
For those that love to hike or to bird watch, this is the place to be. At the Retreat, there is so much to see and do; the site is the base camp for overnight backpacking and day hiking tours. into the forest, At the Retreat, the birds and the wildlife come to you. Other building on-site include a 2 story dormitory, office and campsite. Electricity is solar with a gas generator as a backup; water is rain harvested and the ground provision is grown on the property (organic) or provided by local farmers.

The Bangor Ridge our host community is located over 500 m above sea-level and is home to very hardworking and friendly residents whose main livelihoods are growing Blue Mountain Coffee, cash crops and rearing livestock mainly goats and chickens. The community's isolation has resulted in the retention of the best of Jamaica's traditions of cooperation and a spirit of friendship. People hold dearly to traditional religious ideals and are very industrious. Bangor Ridge and the Retreat provide the gateway and launch pad to numerous "Must Do" attractions provided by the awesome natural and cultural heritage of the area include - backpacking, bathing in the rivers and waterfalls, coffee plantation and community tours, visiting historic ruins and the Maroon Community are just a few of the things to add to your itinerary should you wish to
