About this property

Crappie Cottage (named for the fish) is the perfect spot for a couples' retreat or a family gathering -- featuring fishing, swimming, and lots of spots to relax. Charming, but not rustic (WiFi, 3 LCD TVs, DVD), it's equipped with everything you need except food and bait. New for 2022 is a washer/dryer.

A unique feature is a large swim dock with three kayaks and plenty of water toys for playing or sunning. There's also a covered boat dock for fishing and you can moor a boat dockside.

The third bedroom is small, suitable for one adult or two kids, so, if there are more of you, consider adding the ANNEX, which is a separate, private suite for 2 - 3 located next door. It includes a king bed, full bath, parlor, screened porch, and patio.

Crappie Cottage is in a park-like setting on a quiet residential cove, and
Horseshoe Bend is one of the nicest areas of the lake, providing golf and fine dining on the Bend and a wide choice of vacation activities within a 15 minute drive.

Amazing hospitality

My husband, our 2 daughters, my parents, their dog and I had a much needed relaxing weekend get away. We enjoyed using their kayaks and paddle boat they had provided out on the cove. We were able to fish off both docks with plenty of room and caught many blue gill, bass and crappie. We made such amazing memories and plan to rent again. Candy and Jerry were such gracious hosts and made sure we were good and settled which we greatly appreciated. We highly recommend The Crappie Cottage.

Relaxing autumn getaway

Crappie Cottage was a great place for our family and dog. The accommodations were more than adequate. The only drawback would be not having a full size oven, since we cook most of our meals.

Relaxing Stay

Very clean cottage with pretty much everything you need. Owner was very helpful in getting boat launched and storing trailer. Relaxing stay in quiet cove. Enjoyed swimming, kayaking and fishing from dock.

Everything at the Crappie Cottage is amazing. Year after year we enjoy it even more. Cleanliness, to the beach, to the amenities surpass our expectations! We feel like this is our second home.

Jerry and Candy Griffin have owned the property next door for over forty years and made it their primary residence in 2001. They are retired from careers, both primarily in healthcare IT, living in St. Louis, Chicago, and Kansas City, and commuting to Columbia (MO), Toronto, Baltimore, Ann Arbor, and Boulder.

Now they spend the coldest months at their condo on Maui, which is also listed on VRBO.
