Enjoyable Stay in Deshaies!
We are very pleased with our 3 week stay. The Grande Anse apt is a big open-air roofed terrace with a indoor bedroom & bathroom. The terrace has a simple kitchen, table, chairs, and 2 loungers with a terrific view! Despite several days of rain, the terrace kept us dry. It is hard to described how wonderful it is to open the door in the morning and see the view, the sea, the surrounding hills! Everyday is different. The sea is green then blue another day. The Sunsets are another highlight! The bedroom and bathroom are modern & very clean. Thierry, the agent was very nice and very quick to respond to any of our requests. The pool was welcome for an afternoon swim. The property is very well maintained. We walked into town daily for croissants & Baguette. As my husband says, 8 minutes to town and 25 minutes back!!! He is referring to the steepness of the hill. Early morning is definitely best for the climb. We loved the town of Deshaies. The locals are friendly. The restaurants are good. Our favourite for take-out: La Table D'Art. There is an artisans market every 3rd Sat of the month. A few complaints: It is hard to find information on local happenings. Tourist Office never open. Website not up to date. (Thanks to Thierry we found out about the Carnaval in Deshaies! A highlight!) Beautiful beaches but big strong waves. Not kid friendly. (Other side, St. Anne's for kid friendly beaches). We are looking forward to a return visit!
