About this property

Working Ranch in Minnesota! Great for family groups or flexcation!

Relax, unwind and UNPLUG on our ranch in the Glacial Hills of Western Minnesota. The 5 bedroom, 4 bath home sleeps up to 23 people and is on a working ranch with many nearby activities to keep you as busy or as relaxed as you choose. The Glacial Lakes State Park borders the property with a quiet lake and canoes, paddle boats and kayaks for rent. The park also allows horseback riding and there's a horse barn at the property with stalls for 3 horses if you want to bring your own(with an extra boarding charge). A bike path runs from the park to Starbuck MN and Lake Minnewaska. The home is 5 miles from Lake Minnewaska, with a beach for swimming, all types of water activities in summer and ice fishing in the winter. Bring snowmobiles, 4 wheelers or cross country skis or snowshoes to explore the trails in the area or go hiking in the park or on our ranch. Hunting for deer, pheasants, ducks, and coyote is abundant in the area too. Winter time fun includes sledding in our hills! Lake Emily can be seen from the pastures and the sunsets are beautiful from the deck. We will give you ranch tours for an added fee (except on Sunday) and there is Ranch raised Beef available by contacting us, all priced and ready for the grill!
The home has an open floor plan with kitchen, dining and living room and large windows to enjoy the view. A gas fireplace is located between the dining area and the living room. Farm and ranch traffic does go through the yard at times but you are welcome to watch when something we are doing interests you.
The Master bedroom has a stone gas fireplace with a sitting area. The master bath is equipped with a double shower and bubble tub. The large walk in closet has a crib if needed. There is also a pack n' play available.
Bedrooms 2 and 3 are on the main floor and are just down the hall from the main full bath and the laundry room.
The basement has bedrooms 4 (with small crib) and 5 and 2 bathrooms with showers, a large rec room with ping pong table and another gas fireplace. Also games, puzzles and books are available for keeping family time priority!
The house does not have television but WIFI is available for an added fee of $25 per stay if you need to connect to the outside world!
A back patio with sitting area opens to the spacious back yard with sandbox and swings for the children and a fire ring for S'mores or backyard campfires. The garage is a two stall heated area with sink for cleaning fish or game. This is also a perfect area for ladies time away scrapbooking! We have large folding tables and chairs available! We have a large yard if there are extras that want to pitch a tent or bring an RV. We will charge $15 per night for a tent of extra people and $50 per night to hookup an RV.

We will return!
This is a fantastic home with caring and considerate hosts. This is a perfect annual gathering space for 9 adult siblings and some children and grandchildren. The heated garage with a counter and tables/chairs is a bonus that gave us lots of conversation areas and lots of space to spread out. 2025 will be our third year here. Thank you to Jim and Twyla!

Incredible Location for Family time
We had a group of 21 staying at the Ranch house for Thanksgiving. The house was very clean and kitchen was well-stocked. The garage provided a great place for kids to play, storage of winter gear, and even cleaning of pheasants after a few hunts. The basement was full of toys and games and the kids kept very busy down there. The bunk room was a great sleeping spot for them. Jim and Twyla were extremely friendly and accommodating with an early check-in request, as well as some other extras like taking our kids on the tractor to feed the cows. This is a gorgeous setting and very close to Lake Minnewaska and Alexandria. We will definitely be returning!

Golf Trip
We had a wonderful time and got to spend time with Jim and Twyla who gave us the history of the area. The house was great, and we had plenty of room for our group of 20 golfers. Definitely a great place and highly recommend the area for any outings.

We are a family ranch that raises Simmental and SimAngus cattle in the hills of the Glacial Ridge region of West Central Minnesota. In 2013 this place came available and was just next door to our existing ranch so we purchased it even though we didn't need the house for our family yet. In Jan.2020 we began remodeling the house to add a bedroom and bathroom so we can sleep a bigger group and we opened our doors to vacation renters in June 2020.

Why they chose this property

We love giving people a Ranch experience when they are here. It is also a blessing to us to meet so many great people.
