What an amazing place. Incredible value plus a magnificent view. We had a whole house to ourselves. With two couples, each with full bathrooms including shower and tub with power jets it fit the bill perfectly. We would come back in a heartbeat. In fact if we are ever back in this area we would book this place first. Thanks for being such incredible hosts.
Absolutely amazing. Incredible value for the money. We did not want to leave. One of the best VRBO we have ever stayed in. We had an entire house plus a beautiful view. What more can one ask for. Top notch, we would highly recommend this rental to anyone. In fact if we came back here this is the first place we would book. Thank you for being such great hosts. We cannot say enough good things about your place.

A great retreat spot to relax from the stress of traveling.
The property is stunning and for the most part a great stay. The house needs a 'spring' cleaning/update with new linens/pillows and possibly a mattress topper. Jer was very helpful when needed. Thank you for introducing us to a great cultural experience!
Bar Cillatah was is a wonderful house in a beautiful setting.
The house was clean, comfortable and close to the lovely town of Kenmare. Views from the house are amazing. We were able to do day trips from there such as The Ring of Kerry and Kinsale. Jer was an attentive host. We definitely recommend Bar Cillatah!
The photos aligned well with actual property and the grounds were lovely for sitting outside and admiring the views and the wildlife.
Only critique we had was the limited supplies available to guests. But still a lovely property.
I had heard about this cottage from a friend of mine who stayed there 15 years ago and highly recommended it . We stayed there 4 nights and it was amazing . The views were incredible and it was a special treat to have breakfast outside with the mountain and lake views . The beds were comfortable ( a tough feat for me because of back issues ). The place was very clean and comfortable . It was a special treat for my family to stay there and we all highly recommend . It has been our favorite stay in Ireland so far and we would definitely come back ! Thank you for sharing your special place with us!
We had an extremely comfortable and relaxed stay in this property. It is immaculately clean, spacious and lovely and bright. It is also extremely cosy, well insulated and easy to heat. The location is very private and the elevation of the site provided panoramic views over Kenmare Bay. Jer was extremely helpful and very quick to respond to any issues. We hope to return.

A fabulous break in Kenmare
We absolutely loved our time in Bar Cill Atha. The house was in the most beautiful of surroundings. All the facilities were excellent in the house. Jer was a pleasure to deal with. I cannot fault the house and our whole party had a great break. We can't wait to return!
This is a beautiful property - easy to sit around and do nothing. Easy to spend time in. We were two couples - only dined out one evening. Perfect. Kenmare is an excellent location for touring.

Lovely place with fabulous views over Kenmare Bay
We had a lovely stay in this fabulous cottage, high up on the hillside overlooking Kenmare Bay. It's a huge place, with plenty of space indoors and acres outdoors - great for kids to play and grown-ups to relax. I really miss the views - the sunsets over the bay are to die for and waking up to see a number of deer on the front lawn each day was a treat. Loads to do in the local area with the Beara Peninsula on your doorstep and a pub with good food within walking distance.
The property is in a beautiful peaceful location, but only a couple of minutes drive from Kenmare. My family and I spent a lovely week there, and have no issue in recommending it. The owner was always available if needed.
Great location on a hill overlooking Kenmare Bay two miles form Kenmare. Deer and pheasant in front yard. Home very clean and comfortable. Everything was in tip-top working order. Host was helpful and not overbearing. Provided plenty of wood for great (not smoky) fireplace.

The best house ever!!!
We have stayed in several times in Ireland and this is the nicest house ever!
The house, the park, the quietness, the "greenkeepers" - Perfect!
The distance to Kenmare - Perfect! Taxi Niall Lynch - Super Service!
And the price -Super!
Thanks, Jer! We will definitely come again....
The house is very spaceous and there is very little to complain about. The site is very beautiful and generous.
One star less because of the annoying arrival: after a long day of tavelling, we first had to make ourselves familiar with the heating system as we were expected by a cold house. Furthermore, i don't agree that guests have to pay extra for gas and electricity, especially in a house announced as a luxury home.
Myself, my Husband, Son, Daughter-in-Law and 8 month old Grandson had a wonderful week in a beautiful property. The location was perfect with panoramic views over Kenmare Bay. Jer Foley the owner could not have been more helpful or accommodating and we certainly look forward to returning there. Our visit in late September was blessed with beautiful weather and we were able to sit and enjoy the evening sun looking out at Magillycuddy's Reeks whilst the wild deer grazed on our front lawn less than 20 meters from us. Jill
We had a great time in the house. It was a pleasure seeing the deer in the morning and having a cup of tea on the terrace. Plenty to see from there, though you have to drive to the hiking places. We explored a bit the Kerry Ring but actually preferred the Ring of Beara close to the house because it´s not so busy and very wild and beautiful. Communication with the owner and check-in were easy.
Bar Cill Atha is a fantastic property. Inside, it's tastefully furnished to a high standard and is a very comfortable and pleasant place to spend time. Outside, it's little short of magical - offering fantastic views over the Kenmare River with the awesome MacGillycuddy Reeks in the distance. It's also very convenient - just a few minutes by car from Kenmare, which is surely the best town in Kerry! But at the same time, Bar Cill Atha's position gives the property a strong sense of seclusion and privacy - a real escape from the world! It would be hard to recommend the property too highly. My wife and I will certainly be returning!

A most comfortable base to relax and explore Kenmare and its surrounds.
Bar Cillatha is lovely comfortable house with a great view over Kenmare Bay and beyond. Its spacious bedrooms and bathrooms provide a great sense of ease and relaxation. It has all you could need for self catering and in winter it is really snug by the fire. In summer it would be great for a barbecue. You can go on great walks or cycles directly from the house or from a short drive away. It is only a few minutes into Kenmare town with its range of cafes, shops and restaurants to suit everyone. So whether you want a quiet time or lots of activity it is a super base. Jer is a great host and anything needed is taken care of without delay. Very highly recommended.

We loved this house.
The house is very spacious and comfortable, tastefully decorated and has a lovely view across the bay. The setting is very private, quiet and peaceful and on a clear night the starry skies are breathtaking. There is a deer family that grazes at dawn and dusk and we look at them while they are watching us....Highly recommend.

About the host
Hosted by Jer Foley
Kenmare Rentals is the most recent addition to our family business. Owning and managing O'Donnabhain's Bar & Guest House for many years, we have seen an opening for Self Catering / Holiday Homes as many of our initial guests who are staying with us for the last few years, are spending longer periods here, and it is another alternative.. We have also realised that it can be more cost-efficient and often more convenient for guests who are visiting Kenmare for longer periods of time, to make themselves at home in one of our Self Catering Holiday Homes . If it is your dream to spend a week in a Holiday Cottage in Co. Kerry, then we can make that dream come true. In recent years, we have therefore newly built or carefully restored, and lovingly furnished and fitted out a small number of Self Catering properties in or near Kenmare town. The properties were designed and finished to our own high standards of comfort and requirement for space, and will truly offer you a home away from home. Kenmare is an ideal base to explore, the South West of Ireland . Co. Kerry, with the Ring of Kerry, Muckross House, and the Gap of Dunloe on your doorstep, as well as the beautiful Ring of Beara in Co. Cork, which starts in Kenmare.
What makes this property unique
As owner managers, we care about our properties and our guests. When you rent one of our homes, you are not just a number; individual attention is guaranteed. We will like to have you enjoy our properties at all times but if and when you need us, we are just a phone call away.
