About Oliver Bevan
I am an artist (painter) with a certain notoriety in this area, who left London and came to France with a young family in 2001. I have found galleries and a greater appreciation for my work here than I ever had in England! My children, now adult are both bilingual after completing their education in the French system.
Oliver Bevan purchased this Apartment in 2003
Why Oliver Bevan chose Uzès
We wanted to live in this spectacularly beautiful town, make French friends, master the language and enjoy the privileged climate of this area with its wonderful food and wine.We bought apartments within the old ramparts of the town close to where we live. 'The Artist's' was a must as soon as we stepped out onto the terrace. The view over the rooftops was breathtaking.
What makes this Apartment unique
You are right in the centre of the old city, and yet it is not noisy. The terrace is a wonderful spot for a quiet aperitif or a meal in the summer months with a view of the floodlit Duché and its flag fluttering in the breeze.

Great location.
The location couldn’t have been better. We did not have a car and had no trouble getting around town, hiking to nearby towns, or getting farther afield with the bus system. The apartment is on the top floor with a beautiful view, but that means there are a lot of steps and no elevator. That wasn’t a problem for us, but could be for some.
Charming apartment in central location
The apartment was comfortable, quirky and very centrally located. The host had left a lot of useful information about Uzes and the area for us. We enjoyed ourselves very much!
Perfect perch
While here we watched the flag fly over the Duchy and, had royalty looked our way, no doubt they would have been envious of our accommodations. Oliver was an exceptional host, the apartment delightful and the rooftop deck . . . well, as good as it gets.

Excellent location. Helpful host.
Arrived and settled in to a heat wave! Fortunately there were fans available. Pictures of home were accurate. Could use a baking dish or two and a shower curtain. But those are my only suggestions. Thank you Olivier!
Excellent location in Uzès . A very clean and well appointed apartment and tastefully decorated.
The owner really looked after us and met us outside the city wall, advised on free parking and then escorted us to the apartment.
The bathroom is up a spiral staircase . And a lovely bonus is the rooftop courtyard, private and welcoming.
Perfect location, friendly owner, great stay!
The rooftop terrace sold us! It was so nice to sit in the sun with wine and bread and the privacy with the views is just ideal. We stayed for a week in April, and other than a few rainy days, everything was exactly as we expected and better. The artist apartment was clean, simple, and had everything we needed for cooking and lounging. We stayed with our 5 month old infant, and had a great stay. We moved to the upstairs bedroom after the first night, as the washroom is on the 2nd level and the stairs are quite noisy to navigate at night. Oliver was a wonderful host and we highly recommend his properties as we very much enjoyed our first time to Uzes. We hope to come back!
Map
Uzès, famous for its music and dance festivals, is a spectacularly beautiful small town dominated by the towers of the Duché (the château), the cathedral and the elegant Tour Fénestrelle. Built from the white limestone on which it stands, it is the perfect place to relax and lose yourself in the maze of narrow streets full of boutiques, restaurants and historic sites, or to walk in the shady river valley; inspect the remains of the Roman aqueduct and the spring which once supplied it.. The famous Pont du Gard is a few minutes away. The Uzès market stalls and small shops contain a wide variety of fresh local produce - olives, spices, fish, wine, lavender honey, cheese and provençal fabrics. Uzès is ideally situated for visiting Nîmes, Arles, Avignon, St Remy-de-Provence, the Cévennes and the Camargue. The landscape between Uzès and the Cévennes is of vineyards, olive groves and garrigue - hills covered in thyme, box and rosemary. There are villages to explore, beautiful walks, swimming and kayaking in the rivers...
