About Jennifer Stocks
I have been living in France for 25 years and France is now my home. I love where I live and even more, love to share it with visitors to the area. I think I know every little village and country lane but even now after a quarter of a century' just now and then, either I will pass somewhere or someone will say," Have you seen such and such" and I'll think well, I didn't know that was there! Its like that here, hidden treasures just around the corner. I love country life (more rustic than refined); I'm fascinated by architecture (old and new); if it grows it's great (except docks and bindweed); if it squawks, meows, neighs or woofs, I've probably got one; and I'm a hundred times happier in wellies than high heels.
Jennifer Stocks purchased this Chateau / Country House in 2014
Why Jennifer Stocks chose Rives-D'Andaine
I've been driving passed this house for a couple decades and could never understand why it was abandoned. It's one of those houses that 's sort of mysterious, maybe a bit sad, but definitely has a strong, if strange, attraction. We started work on it last year and and with no exaggeration, was stunned at the reaction of the locals. So many people stopped to say how delighted they were to see the old place live again and even the older residents said they couldn't remember anyone living there. Its undergone a massive rejuvenation and just peeling back 60 years of vegetation revealed a stunning and surprisingly well preserved building. Now with its new roof and all, its been returned to the grandeur and elegance it deserved.
What makes this Chateau / Country House unique
Situated in a small valley with its own babbling brook. The ancient woodland with huge Oaks and Ash trees. The bluebells and ferns and all the creatures that live there, remind me of 'Swallows and Amazons' or perhaps'Tales from the River Bank'. It's a truly magical place for all ages.

A fabulous break, well worth the stay
Just stayed at this lovely property for the second week in October 2019.
I totally concur with all the other previous reviews, this place is a wonderful, peaceful and charismatic place to stay at. On the dull wet days, lighting the wood stove and hunkering down was so delightful and relaxing. If you need to contact the outside world, the wifi works well.
The house is in impeccable order with comfy furnishings, all as the photos on the website.
The local supermarket is only a mile away, is very good and has everything you will need.
Jennifer is a wonderful host and will do anything to ensure your stay is comfortable and relaxing.
This property is an easy 2hr drive from St Malo.
The Parc Naturel countryside is made up rolling hills with excellent vistas across farmland, very pleasing to the eye.
Plenty of places to visit, or even head up to Bayeux or the Normandy Beaches.
We will be returning in the future.
Home away from home
We stayed in this lovely house for two weeks and found it to be comfortable, clean and quiet. We recommend it to anyone looking for a countryside holiday. The house is a one-minute drive to the local supermarket and 3km away from the beautiful spa town of Bagnoles de l'Orne.
Although the weather was not the best, we did love the house and everything Jennifer put into place to turn our vacation into the most resting possible. Be ready to see deers, squirrels, cows, horses every 100 metres and sleep like a baby (if you don't have one...).
This property was just lovely. From its quirkiness layout to its absolute sweetness. We loved the portable clothes rack (once I figured out how to set it up) to dry our clothes in the fresh air and just the simple sounds of peacefulness. The Mill House was our favourite part of our trip to this part of France
Lovely house in beautiful surroundings
Lovely house, nice and (very) quiet surroundings, very kind owner :-), enough things to do and visit in the area
A beautiful retreat to relax and enjoy.
An amazing property which surpassed our expectations, as a holiday home to base ourselves in a relaxed area of Normandy outside the normal tourist spot but with plenty of towns and villages within an hours drive.
The owners met us on our arrival and were really helpful, showing us around and on the end of the phone if needed.
The kitchen is well equipped which we took full use of even managing a BBQ one evening. The Mill House is comfortable and clean and delivers the relaxed environment we were looking for.
The only fault we could find was that we had to come home. Thank you Jennifer for allowing us to experience your beautiful house.
Bagnoles de L'Orne has been a much favored Parisian haunt for generations. This quaint old spa town with its plethora of restaurants is perhaps little known to most people, but tucked away in the heart of the fabulous Forest D'Andaine it's a great centre for all holiday makers.
Le Pré du Moulin is an easy 5mins drive away. The house has its own mini forest (2.5 acres) a babbling brook and is totally private. Our guests can have the best of both worlds without the inconvenience of a half day hike to get your 'pain au chocolate'.
