About this property

Entire Family Friendly House "Villa Archondisa" in the Old Town

Live like a local in this pretty town house in the heart of Chania Town. With its whitewashed walls, bright blue shutters and wrought-iron balcony, Archondisa stands out from the crowd in what is already a picturesque street. From its street-facing balcony you can watch the bustling crowds go about their business. Or, if you’d rather, head to the Venetian-style home’s rooftop terrace simply furnished with sunbeds and a parasol. There you’re rewarded with a 270 degree view of the village, mountains and harbour.

Inside, Archondisa’s charm continues with its mix of antique-style beds, traditional furnishings and mix of wood and marble floors. The ground floor features a living room, fireplace, basic kitchenette and shower room. There are steep stairs to the second level twin bedroom, the third floor double bedroom and roof terrace. Since the house is in the heart of Chania’s plant-pot strewn streets, it’s only a three-minute walk to the local tavernas. And the beach and harbour, which is ringed with cafés and restaurants, is a 15-minute walk away.

Very cute and clean but noisy
We thought this place was adorable and it was very clean, which we appreciated. The location for convenience sake cannot be beat - so close to EVERYTHING. Unfortunately, being so close to everything means it was very difficult for all four of us to sleep. People walking on the streets below were so loud until about 11 at night that it sounded as though they were IN the apartment with us. There were cat fights either on the roofs or in the streets at night and those were loud too. Also, not in regards to location, but the floors creak so badly in both bedrooms that if any one of us got out of bed in the night to move around at all, it woke everyone else in the house up. There’s no way for the people staying on the 3rd floor bedroom (double bed) to go downstairs to the bathroom at night without creaking across the floors and walking through the 2nd story bedroom (thus waking everyone up). It’s unfortunate, because the house has a lot of charm and is very cute. Maybe if we had all had earplugs… Also, the bathroom was a bit tricky. Very clean when we arrived, but the toilet seemed to leak a bit at the base and it was impossible to keep the shower water from leaking out, so the marble floor was wet and slick all the time. The heat pump in the 2nd floor bedroom never seemed to work, so it got a bit chilly at night (we were in Chania the first week of May and the sun didn’t really come out). Complimentary fruit and wine upon arrival were very nice!

Great neighborhood!
The property was exactly what we expected, and the neighborhood was darling. Restaurants and shops for blocks. It could get a little noisy late at night, but overall was a fun experience!

Great stay in Chania
Perfect stay in Chania, the owner Antonis was there to great us. The house is in an ideal location walking distance to anything in a lovely little street with numerous restaurants and shops. It was just me and my wife but would be prefect for a family or two couples.
