More detailed information about the space:
We have been renting our other vacation rental, Glacier Countryside Escape, for a decade, and in 2020, we added this second property - Glacier Countryside Retreat. We have over a 12 year history of 5 star reviews on our properties to ensure that you have a great Montana vacation.
We purchased this land and the home on it in 2010, and since we were both school teachers at the time, we decided that over our summer break it would make a great vacation rental for visitors to Glacier National Park. We soon discovered that we loved sharing our home with our guests. We pride ourselves on creating the perfect place to stay – clean and with all the amenities a guest would hope for. We began amassing 5 star reviews and a full calendar. Soon, we decided to build a second building on the 2 acre lot so that we could share our home with more guests. With the help of family and friends and over the course of five years we completed our dream – Glacier Countryside Retreat. The two-story guest house sits in the back half of a Barn/Garage. There are lean-tos on the side, giving it the quaint barn-look. The guest house has a large deck off of the back, access to a back yard, and covered parking in one of the lean-to’s.
Soon after completing this guest house, we were surprised with the arrival of our first child. Having already rented out our home for the summer, we moved into Glacier Countryside Retreat and lived there for the next two and a half years. It was such a blessing to have had this home during our time of transition to parenthood. Now, we are back in our main home during the school year and back to camping and living with family in the summer. So, we are excited to finally get to share Glacier Countryside Retreat with you, our guests.
Since we have personally lived in this home for a time, I would like to share with you what I think are the Pros and Cons of Glacier Countryside Retreat so you can be sure it is the best choice for your vacation to the Glacier Park Area.
Pros:
• Excellent Location – in the country yet close to all of the major towns in the area as well as Glacier National Park
• Great views – especially from the upstairs bedrooms.
• It is charming and cute, with tongue and groove ceilings and post and beam construction.
• It is bright and spacious with a great kitchen and big bedrooms
Cons:
• Because of the post and beam style construction, the ceiling downstairs is the floor of the upstairs. There is carpet in the bedrooms, but otherwise there is not as much of a sound buffer between floors as there is in traditional construction. Since we had a napping baby while we lived here, we learned that you had to be quiet downstairs while the baby was sleeping upstairs.
• The road next to the house on the East side services a small subdivision, but also is access to a construction/gravel pit. Sometimes during the summer, there can be a lot of trucks driving by along that road. We found it to be a bit noisy when we wanted to sleep in, so we kept ear plugs handy. We will provide some for you in case they are driving by during your stay.
We think our home would make a great spot to launch your Montana Vacation. We look forward to hearing from you. We’d love to email you and would love to answer any questions you may have.
If you choose to book with us, be sure to read our rental agreement for a complete list of rules. Some notable items include:
• No parties allowed
• There is another separate and private residence on the 2.11 acre property
• At NO time is smoking of any kind (tobacco, marijuana, vaping, etc.) allowed inside the home by anyone – tenant or guest of tenant.
• Note that there is a video doorbell on the front porch of this home to help us monitor the property and communicate with housekeeping services about check in and checkout, snow removal and lawn maintenance. There is also a security camera on the building next door lean-to near the garbage cans. This camera is not monitored and there are no other cameras on the property.

About the host
Hosted by Sarah

Hello! We are Ryan and Sarah O'Rourke - owners of GLACIER COUNTRYSIDE RETREAT and GLACIER COUNTRYSIDE ESCAPE.
Ryan and I were born and raised right here in the Flathead Valley. We have been married for22 years. After going away for college, we decided this is the best place to call home. We love all that there is to do here in the Flathead. We regularly bike, hike, camp, boat, fish and just take in the views.
Ryan is a high school history teacher and Varsity soccer coach at Stillwater Christian School in Kalispell. Sarah is a high school science teacher and former basketball coach at the same school. We have one daughter Adeline who is 6.
Shortly after purchasing the home on this property, we decided it would make a great summer vacation home for travelers. As teachers, we were rarely home in the summer - but instead were out enjoying Montana. We began renting it the first summer we owned it and loved the experience of hosting out of town guests. We stay at Ryan's parents' home during the summer (when we aren't camping!)
When Adeline joined the family, we finished up a small apartment in the barn that we built on the edge of the property to live in during the summer. Then, in the summer of 2020, we began sharing that space with guests as Glacier Countryside Retreat. Both spaces are private and separate from one another.
We would like to offer to you our wonderful home for your visit to the Glacier area. We hope you enjoy vacationing in Montana as much as we enjoy living here!

Why they chose this property
We spent several years looking for the perfect home for us. This home along with the main house, is located in the central valley, coveted by locals for its convenience to the 3 major towns in the valley – Kalispell, Columbia Falls, and Whitefish. The setting is peaceful with beautiful views.
Glacier Countryside Retreat was designed and built by us to compliment the setting and to be a great space for guests. We hope you love our home as much as we do!
