We were all so very impressed with this property. Such a beautiful home. A girls getaway. We each had our own bedroom and we appreciated that there was a bedroom on the main floor. We used the fire pit every night. Would stay again. Thank you!
Amazing property, outside grounds and interior rooms are well kept and a very cozy and quaint home. Easy access to downtown restaurants and shops. Everyone enjoyed their stay thoroughly.Thank you very much!!
We came from Texas, Oklahoma, Virginia and Northern NJ to enjoy this beautiful setting. We loved the spaciousness of the house, beautiful fall decor and location to downtown. Thank you for all the little details that made us all so comfortable!
Your home is the perfect place for a getaway. We enjoyed the private backyard with the grill, fire pit and table. Your home was beautiful, comfortable and clean! Thank you for being a phone call away with answers to our questions. We can't wait to come back again! - TS
We truly enjoyed our stay at the Barn Door Cottage. Plenty of parking on the street, and close to everything in Lambertville and New Hope.
The house was so clean and comfortable. The hosts have thought of everything and were so kind to leave extras of small items in the pantry. We would absolutely recommend this property and will definitely stay again if we get the chance.
The Barn Cottage was perfect for our group of 7 college friends. We walked to dinner and shopping in both Lambertville and New Hope. The house had everything we needed and more. The use of space in the larger bedroom was great with the twin beds. The outside yard space with fire pit was very inviting but it rained the entire stay. Just be aware the stairs to get into the home are steep so if you have morality issues it may not be the vacation home for you. We had no issues with street parking. We had 5 cars.
We loved our stay at the Barn Door Cottage! We surprised my husband for his 60th birthday and all the kids were able to celebrate together. The house is gorgeous with plenty of room for us all. We were especially excited to be able to bring our granddog. So close to town and all the sites, loved the fire pit and we made s’mores, check in was easy, lots of parking, and Devon and Jim kindly let us have a late check out. Perfect!
Quick and easy walk to the tow path that takes you into downtown area with shops and restaurants. Lovely patio with firepit and the beautiful house is perfect for gathering, eating and hanging out. We would highly recommend this house. The communication was thoughtful. The replies were quick. The extra touches were lovely.
Stayed for a week over Thanksgiving. We had a great visit. The house was spotless when we arrived. The kitchen has everything you might need (and more). The three bedrooms are good size too. There isn't a driveway where we could park. But we had no problem parking on the street near the house. The house is close to the tow path (running, biking or walking) and near Lambertville. Communication with our hosts was great. I highly recommend staying at the house.
Wonderful location for cycling on canal, great antique shops and top quality restaurants
This the best place we have found in Lambertville/ / New Hope area
- spacious , clean
- convenient layout
- I don’t think I’ve found a better stocked vbro kitchen ( rather embarrassed I asked host if they had basics in kitchen!)
- full credit to host for excellent restaurant recommendations
- walked or rode bikes everywhere
- dog friendly
- quality bedding
- my teenagers loved it - vintage clothes shops , great photography , freedom to roam
- we will definitely be back
Only downside . The house is on main road coming into Lambertville and police pulled over what I assume was a speeding motorist in
Middle of night . If you are used to more suburban quietness ( as we are) just pack some ear plugs
This will be our go to new hope/ Lambertville stay in the future
We are very picky and we absolutely loved staying at this house! The street on which it is located is somewhat busy, but you enter the house by walking through a large but very private garden/yard that feels very secluded due to a high fence/wall and door on the street that you use to access the property. The house itself has incredible charm with what appeared to be original fixtures/floors, etc, but had every modern convenience you could want and everything worked perfectly - the stove, which appeared very old based on its style, was amazing! The layout and the furnishings were very comfortable, and our family of 5 plus 2 large dogs settled in, relaxed and felt at home right away. The entire house was also spotless! We loved being able to just walk across the street to access the towpath for walking to the town, walking our dogs and running. Communication with the owners was excellent - they responded immediately when I reached out with a few questions. They also left the house stocked with useful items for our use (kitchen supplies, snacks, etc) and left a surprise welcome gift for us. It really could not have been a better experience!
We had a wonderful time. The house was perfect! There were 3 couples and plenty of room for all of us. So nice to stay in a house and not a hotel - easier to hang out with everyone and reminisce. It was nice to be able to walk into Lambertville and New Hope and explore the cute towns. Loved all the different restaurants to choose from. Took walks along the canal. We can’t thank Devon and Jim enough for sharing their beautiful house with us for the week!
This is an exceptional property- you can tell that the owners put a lot of care and time into welcoming guests to their home. From the furnishings to the little store room of essentials (toothpaste, toiletries, etc.) this home is so inviting. No cheap, uncomfortable big box store furniture here! The owner was beyond accommodating and communicative. We had a wonderful stay and highly recommend!
The property was beautiful and perfect for a girls' trip. Communication with Devon was seamless. Everyone on the trip was saying how great the house was and we especially appreciated the cleanliness along with the amenities, which were very appreciated!
We really enjoyed our stay over the holiday period. The house was immaculate, and so cute and comfortable. Devon and Jim had thought of everything, from a Christmas tree to all the essentials (and more) in the kitchen. The beds were so comfortable, and it was just such a nice space to hang out in. We’re from the Lambertville area and loved being so close to town. We walked into Lambertville along the canal each day- 5 minute walk. A fantastic place to stay and we’d definitely love to stay here again! Thank you Devon and Jim.
What a charming home in a fantastic location! The home is so comfortable and had everything we needed. You are minutes from town and can stroll across the bridge to New Hope. There are excellent restaurants and shopping, wine tasting and outdoor activities. The canal is just across the street for walks and hikes and bike rides.
The hosts were so welcoming and receptive, we all enjoyed their hospitality and would definitely love to return to this location, there is still so much we would love to see and do in the area.
We loved this property. It has updated features in a rustic setting. Great showers, bathrooms and beds. Very clean and organized. Everything we needed. We were in town for a family wedding and enjoyed having time with our adult children who all live in different places. We had great downtime with them. Lovely home!
The Barn Door Cottage was the perfect spot for a weekend reunion with my siblings. The house is so beautiful with private outdoor space. Beds were soooo nice! Lambertville and New Hope are full of great shops and restaurants and miles of canal trails for walks and bike rides. We will be back!
My group had so much fun here! A beautiful place for a bunch of old friends to hang out and have girl time. There were places nearby to walk to, if you are so inclined, as well as plenty of space to spread out at the house itself. We never felt that we were on top of one another with the multiple beds, bedrooms and bathrooms. We would definitely stay again!!
WOW! We can't think of a better word for our stay other than WOW!! Our hosts were beyond wonderful and the house was amazing! The house was exceptional: clean, well laid out, and extremely comfortable. Devon was awesome and quick to answer any questions. We were within walking distance of all the wonderful restaurants and stores in Lambertville and even New Hope. Would love to stay at the Barn Door Cottage again!

Jim and I have a passion for renovating homes and making them into comfortable and useful spaces. Homes want to be loved and we are forever trying to give love to our properties. We get great joy from watching the evolution of each of properties through time. I was raised on a farm and my family made a living with horses and dogs. My father was a racehorse trainer and my mother taught horseback riding while also breeding and showing dogs. My educational background is in mathematics and statistics and it has served me well in my career. Basically, I love animals, math and old homes!
Why they chose this property
We lived in this house for 7 years before moving to a farm nearby. We worked to make this a lovely place to stay and it is truly a lovely place to stay and enjoy with a group.
