Villa Senecio

Villa Senecio is situated on a mountain in Northeastern Lefkas , among many olive trees and offers a spectacular view of the sea. The area is called “Kontres” (from the word kontri which in local dialect means big rock). At an altitude of 320 m. you can enjoy the breathtaking view of the town, the canal of Lefkas and the beautiful Pringiponisa (Prince’s islands) which include the well-known Scorpios.
It is built with natural materials such as stone, wood and a traditional roof so it blends in beautifully with the natural environment.
It will offer you the Lefkadian hospitality and the warmth of a simple house but at the same time all the modern facilities of a mansion.

The house
The name Senecio comes from a plant with yellow flowers which blooms at the end of winter. This plant can be found all over the property.
Villa Senecio is a holiday home built on three levels of 150 sqm. As you walk through the stone-built entrance you will be fascinated. This leads you to the main entrance of the house. On the ground floor there is a living – room, a kitchen and a bathroom. The floor is a marble chess style pattern. The living room area has an old Coronelli map. The earthy coloured Sofas and curtains blend in beautifully with the wood. There are many antiques and cherished family belongings such as old sewing machines, paintings and prints which give a sense of warmth and nostalgia to the house. The lamps and the hand-made curtains give you a feeling of luxury. The kitchen and the living room are separated from the hall. In the kitchen you will find a great Bavarian dining table and a marble sink which gives the kitchen a country style.
A marble staircase leads you to the first floor. Here you will find 2 of the 3 bedrooms, the master bedroom with its two marble balconies and its own bathroom, and a smaller bedroom with its own bathroom that has a view of the pool. The bedrooms are painted in soft colors and in combination with the antique furniture ,laced curtains and which sheets the rooms give you a sense of tranquility. By following the wooden staircase you will reach the attic, with its exposed wooden roof made of local cypress trees ,where the third bedroom and its own bathroom can be found. The stone walls offer a naturally cool environment.

The garden
There are many spots in the outdoor area surrounding the house where you can enjoy the spectacular view.
There is a splendid Mediterranean garden , built at different levels ,with local aromatic trees and plants. The best spot is the traditional kiosk with a hand-made dining table .
Directly across the kiosk there is the chapel of Aphrodite. On the other side of the garden there is the barbeque area and the shower. The bronze details and the stone sink remind you of another era.

Accommodation
The Villa can accommodate up to seven people. It is also accessible to people in wheelchairs. The main building has three big bedrooms with double beds each with a private bathroom. On the ground floor there is a sofa which converts into a bed. There is also a bathroom and a fully-equipped kitchen that includes a dishwasher, a fridge, an electric kettle,a Tassimo Espresso Machine and a toaster. The house is air conditioned. There is internet access and satellite television.
There are sunbeds and a wooden table in the pool area.
There is parking space for two cars.
The town of Lefkada is a ten minutes drive where you can enjoy taverns, cafes and bars.
