About this property
1920's and 2020's...the best of both!
We've owned the Hall House for 30 years and since then, she has been a primary residence, a vacation rental and a long term rental several times. Now she's back on VRBO and better than ever. She's been given a facelift, we've added some technology, new appliances and landscaping. She's ready to welcome guests who love history and Saluda...check us out and come for a visit.
If you love Inn's and B&B's, you'll appreciate this 1920's Craftsmen's Cottage...decorated with period antiques and lots of charm. This 2 bedroom and 1 bath cottage is cozy and inviting, just like your grandmother's house. There is a large, private deck on the back for quiet time or dinner and the covered front porch is perfect for 'porching' with passersby. The kitchen is fully equipped (actually over equipped) and the house is guest ready down to the wonderful linens. We have all you need to enjoy your stay.
It's just a 5 minute walk to Saluda's Historic Business District. There you can feast on a menu that includes highly-rated restaurants, great galleries, the Saluda Library with Internet access, and wonderful antique shops. We are just 30 miles from Asheville, the famous Biltmore House and the Blue Ridge Parkway. Hendersonville is 12 miles away and home to North Carolina's State Theatre, the Flat Rock Playhouse, the Carl Sandburg Home and much more. About 20 minutes away is the Tryon International Equestrian Center where you can enjoy competition equestrian events, eat and shop! We are minutes to the Green River, one of North Carolina's beautiful Wildlife Rivers and the site of the International Green River Games where you can tube, canoe, or fish. We are surrounded by some of the state's best hiking opportunities, so come stomp the mountains!
Saluda can be and is enjoyed 12 months a year. Summers are mild and a great time to bring the kids and discover how much fun you can have in the mountains. Fall combines brisk days and beautiful colors when the trees provide a wonderful opportunity for picture-taking and hiking. Lots of guests enjoy bringing their families and friends to Saluda for the holidays. Spring is the time when Saluda comes back to life with lots of bulbs and flowers. We have some great gardens and they can viewed by merely strolling through our residential district. Come explore, relax, heal, experience and enjoy all that is Saluda!

About the host
Hosted by Laura R. Fields

We've been living in Saluda since 1981 and have thrived here. We're both professionals who have enjoyed mountain living, leaving behind the hustle and bustle of Atlanta to find a lifestyle that has provided us with peace, balance, two beautiful children by birth, two children by the Grace of God (our daughter and son-in-law) and now grandbabies. We love hosting our guests...providing a place where they can venture out and discover Western North Carolina or stay at the house and read, relax and recoup.
Why they chose this property
The Hall House is a 1920 Craftsman's Cottage that has been lovingly reworked several times since 1990, when we purchased it to raise our young family in. We soon grew out of it but couldn't part with it. So it has been a rental since 1994, providing many of guests with a home away from home. If you love vintage architecture, you'll appreciate the Hall House. From the minute you see it and step inside, you feel the comfort, the sweet energy, the welcoming call to breathe and let go of everything. It's a captivating little house with all the amenities of a modern home PLUS it's just a stroll down a treelined sidewalk to our historic Main Street where you can shop, eat, listen to live music in the summer, go to church, or just sit on a bench and people watch. It's really idyllic if you enjoy that kind of thing.
What makes this property unique
The Hall House and downtown Saluda is very walkable for those who like to "stretch a leg". It's quiet and many of our guests love the rear deck for doing yoga or meditating. There's a large picnic table for outdoor dining and herb pots to pick from to enhance your meals. A covered front porch, like all Craftsman's Cottages have...is a wonderful place with antique wicker for coffee time and saying hello to strollers. The kitchen is on overload...it's equipped to please every foodie. I love beautiful linens so the beds are luxurious...i even provide makeup washcloths in the bathroom. I also make scrubs so there is a vessel full in the bathroom. Details "r" me so I have strived to create a retreat that beckons guests to return (and many have)...come visit!
