Marion and Charles were lovely hosts. We felt very lucky to have the opportunity to stay in this beautiful railway carriage. With a hot, powerful shower and a well equipped kitchen, we had everything we needed. Set in a quiet and peaceful charming area, it's a great place to relax.
We had a great two night stay, the train carriage is beautiful and the setting was fantastic. Marion the host was very helpful.
I would recommend to anyone looking to escape the bustle of the city for a few days.
Amazing restoration of the train carriage and van. Everything has been catered for and the kids loved it. Warm, comfortable and private. The dog was happy to! Highly recommend a stay
We enjoyed a two night holiday in the converted railway carriage and work van. Extremely comfortable and with remarkable attention to detail in the restoration and provision of modern comforts. Add in the peaceful location and you will feel transported to Victorian England. Charles and Marion were warm and charming hosts with such interesting stories about the accommodation and other restoration projects. The aviary was an added bonus for our curious children.
Very clean and well looked after. Brilliantly equipped and all grounds are kept beautifully. Very friendly and helpful host. Heating system worked fabulous even in winter months.
Fantastic accommodation. The carriage was well equipped and perfect for a short stay for myself and my 2 dogs. Plenty of places to visit and lots of walks in the surrounding area. Despite the bad weather it was lovely to come back to the carriage to relax in the evening. Would definitely recommend it as a perfect getaway. Look forward to the new carriage
We very much enjoyed our two nights in this unusual, neat and quirkily appointed camping van. It was a great place to come back to and within easy distance of Bridport, Lyme and Charmouth. I was concerned it might be a bit chilly in November but we were warm and comfortable.
Marion was lovely, very friendly and accommodating.
Railway carriages finished to an excellent standard, very comfortable, coal burner very welcome. Cream tea tea was a must do.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Highly recommended.

thank you, Amanda and we really enjoyed having you all to stay!!!
Most unique and delightful accommodations I’ve ever stayed in!
My 8-year-old daughter and I were planning to go to Cornwall for a holiday but when we saw this amazing VRBO listing in Dorset, we couldn’t resist. The accommodations and the lovely hosts didn’t disappoint. This was by far the most unique place I have ever stayed in and we absolutely loved our time there. We were there for three nights and it was so comfortable and enjoyable. We had plenty of space between the carriage and the living van, as well as the private garden they were situated in. We ended up hanging around both mornings because it was just a fun place to spend some time and relax. The owners were incredibly friendly, helpful, and pleasant, and we would stay there again in a heartbeat.

Delightful accommodation in a lovely setting
We had the most wonderful stay at Marion's lovely railway carriage and van. The accommodation is compact but comfortable and absolutely charming with beautiful vintage and antique furniture and fittings.
The setting in the garden of Marion's house was perfect with glorious west-facing views across the Dorset countryside. It is incredibly quiet - and dark! - at night but just a few minutes drive to Bridport and the coast.
Marion gave us a lovely welcome and was on site if we needed anything; she gave us fresh milk and some delicious biscuits so we had a refreshing cuppa as soon as we had arrived and settled in.
Our party was four ladies celebrating a birthday but it would be perfect for a family with young children - the two vehicles are just a couple of metres apart. In fact one member of my party is already looking at dates when she can bring her family.
I recommend you pack in to soft luggage and bring a torch.
Brilliant adventure - thanks Marion!

Thank you for your fantastic review. We did try so hard when restoring the carriage and van to pay lots of attention to detail, so the carriage retained all of the character of the Victorian coach whilst trying to provide your guests with home comforts!
We stayed for 2 nights and our friends stayed in the living van, which was in the garden. The railway carriage has been beautifully restored and has everything that you will need for a comfortable stay, including a real stove for keeping the van warm. The bathroom needs to be shared by the people in the living van but that wasn't a problem for us. Plenty of towels, bedding etc and even tea / coffee for our stay.
We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay and I would definitely recommend this as a fabulous place to stay. In order to really benefit from the stay, I would recommend a minimum of 2 nights Thank you
We have just returned from a short stay here to celebrate my husbands birthday! Such a fun and novel place to stay! Perfect location for visiting the Jurassic Coast!
Amazing experience to stay in a Camping Coach in such a beautiful and peaceful setting
Such an amazing experience staying here in the Camping Coach that has been so beautifully restored by the owners, Marion and Charles, who were so friendly and excellent hosts. We can recommend the delicious Afternoon Tea which we booked in the Dining Carriage. We all really enjoyed our stay thank you and hopefully will return soon.
Hosts were welcoming and accommodating; our 2 boys loved learning about the restoration of the train carriages. Charles and Marion were a big part of making this stay so special for the boys. The train carriage and hut were fabulous - offering a unique experience. Clean, tidy and well equipped. We will be back again to explore the beautiful county further as the location is second to none.
Great , quirky carriage beautifully restored and extra workman’s hut a bonus if extra people staying
We had a lovely stay even though we had to cut it short , Marion was very accommodating and very helpful . Beautiful enclosed garden for our dog and log burner fire was a hit ! If you want a quiet , relaxing break this is the place to be , lovely places to walk too , we will definitely return , highly recommended!

About the host
Hosted by Marion Gardner
Charles loves steam trains, so when he saw this railway carriage on eBay in 2012, we just had to buy it to add to our collection of two we already have in the garden. We spent two years restoring it, trying to make it into a special space where you feel and see the character of old carriages paying particular attention to detail but having all the modern facilities to make you comfortable. We live in a beautiful part of West Dorset and feel very privileged to live here and enjoy doing so very much. We love to have visitors because we love to share our surroundings and give them a taste of our paradise. When I am not running the camping coach I teach piano. We have 2 wonderful daughters and a fluffy dog called Rusty and Pip.
