The home features three large bedrooms, two modern bathrooms, two comfortable living areas, a dining room, and a fully-equipped kitchen designed for those who love to cook. I grew up on this end of Roanoke Island, the North End as we would say. There is a bike path that runs along 64 making the north end a great place to run, walk and bike. The street the house is on leads to the water and some great views of the sound.

The primary king bedroom is tucked away for privacy and includes an on-site laundry area. All beds in the house boast top-quality mattresses to ensure a restful night's sleep. High-quality linens, towels, and essential toiletries are provided for your convenience. Two additional bedrooms, one king and one queen, share a bathroom and are located on the opposite side of the house from the primary bedroom.
Outside, the huge, private backyard invites you to unwind with a cocktail under the afternoon shade, savoring the tranquil small-town atmosphere. Grill some fresh, local tuna caught in the Gulf Stream, and later, enjoy a movie or live music at The Pioneer Theatre, the country's oldest family-run theater (1918-2022).
Rent bikes to ride downtown, explore Festival Park, and enjoy the scenic bike path. Walk along the docks of downtown Manteo, where you'll find vibrant shops and restaurants. A short drive will take you to the beach, and the property includes a shed for storing all your beach chairs, umbrellas, and bikes. Our family's heritage in Manteo dates back to the 1800s, with roots as lighthouse keepers. My father even worked on the historic Roanoke Marshes Lighthouse on the Manteo waterfront. We are proud to share our lovingly restored home and hope you enjoy your stay as much as we have enjoyed preparing it for you.

We absolutely loved our stay at Sunshine Cottage. It is beautiful decorated, comfortable and cozy. It truly felt like a home away from home. Our stay here made our vacation in the Outer Banks a delight!
The kitchen had all the things necessary to make simple meals. The area was convenient for shopping and getting to shopping areas, tourist attractions and the Outer Banks areas
The Sunshine Cottage will now be our "home" away from home! The place was immaculate! The kitchen was extremely well equipped. The linens, towels and beds were comfortable and of highest quality. We loved the little town of Manteo as we enjoyed the food, the people and the quaint shops. We can't wait until we can once again get away and relax at this fine place!
The house was very cute and spacious. There was a lot of things to do very close by. Roxy offered some good suggestions on places to eat and things to do.
Sunshine Cottage is in a lovely and quiet residential neighborhood in Manteo. It's a perfect home base for exploring the Outer Banks. The cottage was spotless when we checked in, and the furnishings, provided linens and towels, and nicely equipped kitchen made our stay a breeze. I can't say enough good things about the comfortable beds — so welcome after a long day of activities. The cottage has great water pressure for those who enjoy an invigorating shower. We're not TV watchers when on holiday, but there are three nice sets for those who don't want to miss favorite shows.
Great place to be! Central to everything the outerbanks has to offer, and the host is absolutely fantastic! Super accommodating and very responsive. The home itself is quiet, spacious and very comfortable. We will 100% stay again
Beautiful home, beautifully decorated and in a nice quiet, friendly community. Kids enjoyed the backyard. Location was centralized to everything we wanted to experience. Great host who was very communicative.
Please always be sure to select properties that best fit your needs or wants Especially when booking last min stays. This property is away from the beach on Roanoke island and hosts opportunities that involve downtown Manteo, Roanoke island festival park, and it is about 10 min from Jeannette’s pie and the beach. These three stars represent the guests perception of the location to the beach but do not reflect the property of being clean, well decorated, and a fully stocked kitchen with pans and utensils
.
This was a great location. The set up of the home was perfect for us. The master is on one side of the house and the other 2 bedrooms, where our adult children stayed, were on the opposite side. We were all together but had plenty of space. The only quirk (not a deal breaker) is that you have to go through the master bath to get to the bedroom, so there was a bit of coordinating required. We had trouble with the door code checking in but host was super responsive and got us in within minutes.
This place is a little gem. Three bedrooms, ALL of which have a king-sized bed! Very well decorated and had everything we needed, plenty of towels to start with. Wish we had discovered it sooner, we’ll stay here again.
Why do I like being a Host? Well this all started about 10 years ago with one unit mom had redone for a beach retreat behind our restaurant the Dunes and now we host 8 properties in Manteo and Nags Head. Over the years I have enjoyed meeting and enhancing guests experiences from places to eat, fish to catch, things up the beach and down, to having a young man propose on one of our porches. Its been an enjoyable way to provide hospitality and being raised in a hospitality industry it seemed logical to step to rent properties. I enjoy the help and support of my family with hosting guests. Dad handles codes and ground support in Manteo. Mom decorates and will get any item for your kitchen and my sister, makes sure to keep me in line and much more. I enjoy answering questions from my future guests. If I can help them enjoy whatever reason they are coming to the Outer Banks it feels like a success. From Boating to Site seeing, I hope to hear from you to help with your stay.
Why they chose this property
This neighbor hood is quiet with houses on each side. The back yard is a real draw with hedges on all three sides. The location is just on the other side of small town of Manteo which allows for access to 64 and to get to downtown Manteo via side streets and down to the waterfront on bike or walking. There is a boat launch in downtown and plenty of room to turn a trailer of round in the yard.
What makes this property unique
I think The feeling when you get to a house and are in aww by the color scheme and attention to detail in the decor. The Beauty of a surrounding area that's new. The adventure that awaits. The peacefulness that awaits to dream about what might come tomorrow. I hope that you feel as if you are now ready to start your vacation once you arrive.
