Comfortable & tastefully restored accommodation in the independent west wing of Villa Magnieu. A true home from home, comfortably sleeps 7 guests in 4 bedrooms. The larger gîte has 3 bedrooms & the smaller a double bedroom. And the best part? Both gîtes are included in your booking, ensuring plenty of space for your family or group.

Nestled within 1.4 hectares (3.5 acres) of lush, mature gardens. Villa Magnieu offers a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Whether you're traveling with children or seeking a retreat for adults, you'll find plenty of space to relax and unwind.

The heated pool is surrounded by palms & banana trees. Measuring 12m x 6m the pool has a constant depth of 1.2m, perfect for kids & adults to play or unwind. The "old bakery" sits alongside the pool & is a great place for alfresco dining or escaping from the mid-day sun for a well earned siesta. It has a large table & benches & a fridge-freezer to store your summertime essentials. As well as plenty of pool toys to help keep the whole family entertained.

Located in Saint Médard de Mussidan, in rural Dordogne, on the edge of open countryside & close to local shops, supermarkets, restaurants & bars. We are in a great, central location for families.

Places worth a visit during your stay include Bergerac, Bordeaux, Périgueux, Sarlat, Lascaux & St Emilion. Grand étang (lake) de La Jemaye is a short drive away and has a lovely sandy beach, children's play area, cafes & a restaurant.

Lovely place, good location great hosts

This was a fantastic stay. From the start we were made to feel very welcome. The facilities are excellent and the pool was beautifully clean and maintained. There was plenty for the whole family to do. The inside was ideal for a family’s of 5 and the beds were very comfortable! We would love to come back sometime

Great villa

Lovely villa and fantastic hosts in Assa and David. Nothing was too much trouble. Local Town Mussidan is a little quiet but a great base for exploring beautiful Dordogne.

Wonderful Holiday

Words can’t describe the beauty and tranquility of villa Magnieu and the only way is to visit and enjoy the wonderful experience for yourself, the moment you arrive you are welcomed with a lovely smile you receive from Aasa and David, truly recommendable, 10/10 and nothing is too much trouble. Amazing

We had the most fantastic week, such an amazing place to stay. They have everything you can think of for all ages. Place is stunning and done to a lovely standard. They have literally thought of everything you could think of to make our stay memorable. David and Aasa are lovely people and there for when we needed them but also gave us privacy too. Pool was lovely and we had so much fun. Perfect for all ages, swimmers or non swimmers. We are definitely planning on going back again soon. Thank you for such a great holiday.

Un havre de paix !

Nous avons passé un séjour absolument parfait chez Aasa et David qui sont des hôtes des plus généreux, sympathiques et sérieux. La maison, le parc, la piscine sont sublimes et parfaitement entretenus. Tout a été pensé, équipé et rénové avec beaucoup de goût, de respect de l’environnement et dans l’optique de faire plaisir aux clients. Nous avons été plus qu’agréablement surpris à tous les titres, la réalité dépasse largement l’annonce qui nous faisait déjà rêver ! Nous reviendrons avec un immense plaisir et recommandons la villa Magnieu les yeux fermés pour un séjour entre amis ou en famille ! Mille merci Aasa et David !

Un séjour exceptionnel

A peine arrivés, nous étions conquis par les lieux. Un accueil charmant des propriétaires, attentionnés mais qui savent aussi se faire discrets. Le jardin est fantastique, tant la piscine que les espaces verts qui sont bien entretenus. De nombreuses activités sont mises à disposition pour les petits comme les grands (ping pong, raquettes, babyfoot, fléchettes, pétanque, croquet.... impossible de s'ennuyer !). La piscine est chauffée, et tout l'équipement est là pour en profiter (y compris une enceinte pour écouter la musique en se prélassant sur les transats). Le gite est très bien équipé lui aussi (coins dressing, cuisine au top au niveau équipement, linge fourni), les propriétaires nous avaient préparé de petites attentions adorables qui font la différence. Malgré la météo capricieuse pendant nos vacances, ce endroit nous a permis de passer de supers moments en famille. La région quant à elle promet de belles visites et balades ! Encore merci pour votre accueil et vos charmants animaux qui nous ont fait nous sentir comme à la maison !

An amazing property in an amazing location

We have fantastic two week holiday in this property and would thoroughly recommend it. It consisted of two Gites, each with character and space for a large family. They were both spotless and well presented. Everything you can think of was there. Outside they have a lovely pool which was heated and had a cover you can swim under if you wanted to. We played games and giant chess and also had an evening toasting marshmallows with their firepit. Nearby were two supermarkets and the local town of Mussidan has further shops and restaurants. The Dordogne region has beautiful towns and villages and there is a pack advertising these in the Gite. Finally, Aasa & David were wonderful owners and really helped and advised us on nearby events. They are friendly without being intrusive and were always available if we needed them. Thank you for letting us stay in your amazing property. We shall certainly be recommending you to our friends and family. Simon, Rebecca & Family x

An amazing escape in the Dordogne!

What a fantastic week at Villa Magnieu! Conveniently located from the local town Saint-Medard-de-Mussidan, where there are plenty of supermarkets and superb boulangerie (visited daily for the fresh pastries and baguettes). David and Aasa were excellent hosts, very welcoming and friendly and nothing was too much trouble and made our stay thoroughly enjoyable. I stayed in the "Big Gite" which was extremely comfortable, spacious and had a very well equipped kitchen as well. One of the best things at Villa Magnieu has to be the swimming pool and the pool area, which was amazing! I spend a good proportion of my week relaxing by the pool. I will be looking to return in the future and have already recommended to friends and family as well.

Die Villa Magnieu ist ein grosszügiges Anwesen, mit verschiedenen lauschigen Ecken. Die Besitzerfamilie lebt im Herrenhaus und die Gäste verteilen sich auf die zwei Gîtes, welche sowohl als Einheit, als auch separat benutzt werden können. Die Gîtes wurden mit viel Liebe zum Detail gestaltet und sind eine Wonne fürs Auge. Sie sind sehr sauber und mit allem ausgestattet, was man sich wünschen kann. Alles funktioniert einwandfrei. Die Unterkunft bot unserer Gruppe von 4 Erwachsenen und 4 Teenagern/ Kindern viel Platz. Der neue Swimmingpool ist ein zusätzliches Highlight - für Kinder und Erwachsene ebenso! Bequemen Liegen und Sessel laden dort zum Verweilen ein. Vielen Dank für alles, liebe Aasa und David! Ihr seid die perfekten Gastgeber! Ihr habt uns mit vielen kleinen Aufmerksamkeiten verwöhnt und umsorgt. Wir werden noch oft hierher zurückkommen. Die nächsten Ferien in der Villa Magnieu haben wir schon vor unserer Abreise gebucht.

Such an amazing place!

We stayed at Villa Magnieu for a week in June (4 adults and one child). The setting and location is sublime, an 17th century Manor House with two gites which comfortably accommodated our group. Both gites are well stocked with everything you could ever need during your stay, so much so it felt a home from home. Sitting on the terrace watching the stunning Dordogne sunsets with a good Bordeaux is the perfect way to end a relaxing day by the pool. The pool is serene and impeccably kept, with the most comfortable sun loungers ever! It’s great for kids especially as the depth isn’t too deep, and although we had brought our own inflatables, the villa had a few ideally suited for children to play with. Location wise, it is very close to supermarkets and to the local village. For us the short drive (30mins) from Bergerac airport topped off the holiday as the villa was so convenient to get to. Aasa and David have created the perfect holiday destination for groups and families. Attention to detail can be found throughout and we cannot wait to book again soon. Thank you so much for your wonderful hospitality.

The perfect family holiday

They say first impression are important, well if that's true, The Gite at Villa Magnieu was spot on. As we arrived we instantly had a great feeling about this holiday, the main house and gardens are spectacular and the welcome from David and Aasa was warm and friendly. The gites, that form a separate wing of the main house, are delightful-loads of character, plenty of room, beautifully restored with good facilities. The kids loved the pool and playing in the garden, we loved relaxing and drinking wine! The area has lots to do, our favourites were the beach at the nearby lake and the Go Ape style centre just outside Mussidan. Thanks for a fantastic holiday, we will be back.

A real haven

Our stay here was, without doubt, one of the most enjoyable breaks we have had. Lovely grounds to relax and unwind in. The accommodation was charming and full of character and the swimming pool was just wonderful to cool down in on the sunny days. David and Aasa were the perfect hosts; helpful, friendly and made us feel at home from the moment we arrived. We weren’t far from some truly beautiful towns and countryside. We will definitely be returning.

Absolutely Wonderful Property

We spent a few days here on our French Road Trip this July. The accommodation is wonderful and the Gites are well appointed and renovated. There is use of a pool and delightful grounds. The Hosts, David and Aasa, can help with anything you might need or want to know. The area is really central to many tourist areas and just 1 and a half hours away from the Medieval town of Sarlat. We will definitely stay here again.

Beautiful well equipped gite in a relaxing setting

We desperately needed a relaxing break and our holiday in this gite certainly delivered. In a beautiful setting Villa Magnieu was perfect for our needs. The gite was spotless, and our hosts David and Aasa had thought of every last detail ensuring no mad dash to the supermarket for 'the essentials' when we arrived. The gite was extremely well equipped, a real home from home. There was plenty for the children to do, from the pool (with lots of play equipment) to table tennis, giant chess and many games of hide and seek! We would absolutely recommend this gite to anyone and hope to return in the future.

Fabulous base to explore the South-West of France

This is a fabulous property on the edge of a small town called Mussidan. The owners have done a great job of renovating the gites. They are clean and comfortable with modern facilities but still in keeping with the age of the buildings. The grounds are spacious and well-kept with a swimming pool and table tennis. David and Aasa are discreet, but very helpful and couldn't do enough for us during our stay. Aasa speaks many languages so is able to help with any bookings you may need. Only an hour from Bordeaux and 45 mins from St Emillion, it is a perfect place to unwind at the end of the day with a good glass of red!
