About this property
The Apothecary's Abode
Retired Architect of the Buildings of France, researcher and specialist in medieval architecture and author of reference works on Cluny, Jean-Denis welcomes you to his magnificent medieval residence full of history from the end of the 11th century, carefully restored, exceptional because officially listed since 2000 as the oldest dated house in France (1091)! Ultra privileged location: in the heart of the famous abbey city (endowed with the very rare and prestigious label "European Heritage"), on the edge of a quiet street and very close to shops & services. One of the most beautiful pearls of Burgundy, spiritual heart of medieval Europe with inestimable historical heritage, nestled in a splendid preserved natural and rural setting. Very comfortable cottage. Ultra spacious and cozy. Lots of charm and character. Warm character combining "bourgeois" spirit (16th to 19th century style furniture), baroque atmosphere and particularly careful heritage renovation (beams, stained glass windows, door frames, 17th century floor tiles, etc.). You will have a pleasant, intimate, landscaped and wooded enclosed garden, nestled in a quiet area at the back of the house (lit at night / accessible until 10:30 p.m.). Composition: Fully independent gîte on the 2nd floor of the owner's house. Wifi. Gas central heating. Living room-kitchen-lounge (sofa bed in "rapido" system 2 p. 140x190cm as an extra), 2 bedrooms (double bed 140x190cm in each), dressing room, bathroom (shower/wc). Enclosed garden of 800m² (shared with owner). Easy public parking on site. Closed bicycle storage. Shops and services on site. Mâcon Loché TGV station 23 km. Bicycles available (free). Unique & literally exceptional address! Spacious charming cottage nestled in a magnificent medieval residence from the end of the 11th century with a pleasant intimate enclosed garden - officially listed since 2000 as the oldest dated house in France (1091)! - nestled in a quiet area in the heart of the splendid world-renowned abbey city of Cluny. Ideally located in the heart of the Mâconnais vineyards on the routes of the Romanesque churches circuit, the greenway, the referenced mountain bike route of the GTM (Grand Tour du Massif sud Bourgogne) & the wine route. In the heart of Tournugeois-Clunisois (labeled "Pays d'Art & d'Histoire"), at the crossroads of Mâconnais & Charolais-Brionnais (labeled "Pays d'Art & d'Histoire"), splendid territories rich in a unique heritage and sumptuous preserved landscapes between beautiful green valleys covered with meadows, wooded hills, hedgerows, vast forests and vineyard slopes. Prime location to explore all of southern Burgundy: 24 km from the famous Roche de Solutré labeled "Grand Site de France", 26 km from Mâcon, 35 km from Tournus, 36 km from Charolles, 49 km from Chalon-sur-Saône and 50 km from Paray-le-Monial (& its illustrious basilica).
