Authentic Bresse farmhouse with character from the end of the 18th century, perfectly preserved & steeped in history (one of the oldest buildings in the village), carefully restored respecting the traditional architecture in bricks & timber frames, nestled on the edge of a bucolic pasture occasionally welcoming sheep (without nuisance). Peaceful residential hamlet nestled in the countryside, a stone's throw from the Seille, the largest river in Bresse Bourguignonne, largely classified as a "Natura 2000 Zone" for its remarkable ecosystem (migratory bird reserve, rare plant species, numerous fish including the famous catfish, wild fauna…) & waterway within superb landscapes (pleasure cruising, canoeing, fishing, hiking….). Quiet environment in the hollow of a delightful rural & natural setting preserved by groves & forests, adjoining the typical village of Saint-Usuge with a landscaped fishing pond (picnic tables & playground), known for its originality 16th century church in the Franche-Comté style. Spacious gîte with good comfort. Warm country cachet mixing traditions & contemporary spirit, combined with careful heritage restoration (conservation of the original beams & mantels). Soft & exotic atmosphere of an old country house. Pleasant lawned garden without vis-à-vis open to the surrounding countryside. Nice clear view. Large terrace (exposed & shaded) nestled on a large gravel courtyard (real natural pétanque ground). Authorized access to the owners' vegetable garden nearby (picking of fresh vegetables possible with their agreement). Composition: Single-storey single-storey house adjoining the owners' house (total independence). Wireless. Electric floor heating + wood stove. Lovely gite spoilt by a couple of things

The majority of the gite has been beautifully refurbished but it has a small inconvenient WC and a truly dreadful shower - small and with a tatty curtain. We saw the proprietor for about five minutes when we arrived and then not at all for the rest of our week's stay, despite the proprietors living in the adjacent property.

Viel Platz. Freundliche Besitzer. Gute Einrichtung. Prima Küche. Sehr gute Betten: Was will man mehr? Man will Ruhe, die Landschaft kennenlernen, einen fantastischen Montags - Markt in Louhans, leicht in die Städte an der Saone, das Weinland in Burgund und zu den Wanderwegen am Jura-Rand oder zur "vache qui rit" in Lons le Saulnier kommen. Und das klappt alles ganz wunderbar. Wir können ´s nur empfehlen.
