Guest Lodge on the Johnson Fork of the Llano River
Perhaps you are old enough to remember the good old western movies with the ruggedly beautiful, gently rolling Texas type scenery in the background of the cattle drive or the weary rider heading off into the sunset. Escondido Ranch, located in south central Texas is exactly like that Hollywood version of the Old West, complete with mesquite brush, hills and wooded areas, and the low canyons perfect for those early morning sunrise or late evening sunset. The Guest Lodge is located in the valley, with a spacious back porch overlooking the Johnson Fork of the Llano River. Each of the bedrooms in the Guest Lodge have a spectacular view of the river and the wildlife that frequents this beautiful sight. The bedrooms are tastefully decorated in a Western style with each bedroom having its own bathroom.
Our Guest Lodge is equipped with a full kitchen, a living room area with wide screen TV and a spacious porch overlooking the River.
For mid-day relaxation, you can lounge on the outside patio or swim in the river.
In addition to the first class accommodations there is also the option to catch and release fish on over 2 miles of a spring fed river that runs through the property. This riverbed also provides excellent viewing of wild hogs, Rio Grande Turkey, Whitetails, and various other exotics. Being at this Texas ranch is both breathtaking as well as relaxing and rejuvenating. It is almost impossible to imagine you are just a few miles of the beaten path as it is quiet, serene and beautiful.
This is a great location for families or several couples that just want to getaway.
If you are a smaller party then our other listing on the same ranch might be for you!

Great place for our annual class of 1968 get together although the weather was too hot to enjoy the outdoors much. Plenty of room, spotless and great location.
The property is secluded and private, we hung out and fished all day at the various spots on the river that vary between a couple of inches to a few feet. The house was very clean and just like the photos. Grilled a couple of nights and had smores! Would highly recommend it. Although we felt like it was only us on the ranch, it was comforting to know that the ranch manager is there if you need him.
This is an amazing property. The land is beautiful. A swimming hole that provides hours of fun. Acres to roam around. Owners and staff are helpful and swift to reply. Every bedroom has a private bath and access to a large, well appointed patio area that is perfect any time of day. Well stocked kitchen. Game room with pool table, poker table, television and comfy seating. We could go on and on. We will be back.
Host and ranch personnel were friendly and helpful. We loved sitting on the back porch with a fire in the evening and hiking around the property. We visited Caverns of Sanora and Kayaked the S. Llano our last day.
The property was beautiful we were greeted an shown around and checked on when we crossed paths. They showed us the swim spots by the river and had the cutest interactions with my youngest who had a birthday over the weekend! They made us feel so welcome and like wed known them forever! 10 out of 10 recommend!!
We had a great time at the lodge.
We enjoyed playing in the river and fishing during the day, and grilling and hanging out in the shop area in the evening.
We will definitely return.
Our family of 13 which included 8 adults and 5 kids (7, 5, 4, 2 1/2 years and 6 weeks old) met at Escondido Ranch to celebrate our son and daughter-in-law's graduations from medical school. The time we spent at this beautiful ranch on the peaceful tributary of the llano river, was everything we could have asked for. We awoke and had coffee to the sight and sound of beautiful birds, we caught (and released) fish fast enough to delight even the 4 year old, we waded and floated in the cool, clear water, we played games on the lawn and in the gameroom, went on wildlife viewing hikes in the evening and saw millions and millions of stars at night. We had everything we needed in the house from the kitchen to the gameroom. Our beds were comfortable and I especially loved that each bedroom had a door to the outside. We brought folding tables and used the outdoor chairs and benches to make a table long enough for our big group to gather together for dinner in the shade on the lawn. Does it sound heavenly? It was. I wouldn't have changed a thing. Thank you to Heather and Austin for helping us get settled and making sure we had everything we needed! We will be back

We appreciate the kind words are so glad you all had a great stay! We look forward to having you all at the ranch in the future!
Beautiful ranch with plenty of room to explore. The guest lodge was clean, comfortable and relaxing - plenty of room to space out. We waded in the river, hiked and explored along the river, caught a lot of fish, saw wildlife, and made s'mores at night - it was a perfect way to spend a few days as a family. Heather was very responsive and helpful. We hope to revisit again. Thank you for making your special place available.

We enjoyed having you all stay with us and your welcome back anytime!
Relaxing getaway with first class style and natural amenities!
Our time was so relaxing! Having coffee with the exotics and whitetail and turkey. Running water soothing through the day, cold pools of water and a slow float through nature. Pool and poker in the evenings before time under the stars or around the fire. Steaks on the grill and Bluebell in the freezer! What a great place for the family and friends! Hope to make it a regular meeting place! The friendly owners and managers made it a breeze with not the least trouble to get settled in! 5 star for sure!
