About this property

Quiet and tranquil, overlooking the sea

Tinopai is a quiet settlement in the Northern Kaipara Harbour. Tinopai means Very Good, and so it is! Good swimming, the water's so clean, being close to the Heads. The Matakohe Museum is a must, top class! The locals are really nice, we hope you get to know them. If you have a boat, great fishing 1 km up the estuary (exact spot is classified information). There's a wharf from which to fish if you are a landlubber. If you're fit, Mt Tokatoka is worth a climb, to view the Kaipara all the way to Dargaville. If you're a stargazer, the night sky is an astronomer's dream.
There is an Alpaca farm to visit at 308A Arapaoa Road, $30 per vehicle. A delightful experience!
The bach itself is set on half an acre, with a small bush walk at the bottom. Sleeps six comfortably. There is a wee caravan (which the kids fight over) on site.

My daughter and I enjoyed our break away weekend here. The house has everything you need and is spacious and comfortable. Excellent location and lovely views. VRBO website's lockbox code had not been updated and I'd not noticed the difference in number sent by the owner. It took half an hour to reach the owner to get the correct code so we were a bit worried for a while there. But once settled in, it was very relaxing.

Beautiful Gardens at Tinopai.

The property was situated on top of a hill which gave great views over the bay. Jullie is obviously a keen gardener as the gardens were stunning. There is heaps of flat areas for kids to play. It is in a great location for day trips around the area.

A very relaxing stay. It was so peaceful! The Bach was very comfortable and has a nice feel to it. Light and airy. Our doggie loved the big garden and views out to the harbour were lovely. Great value. Thanks so much for letting us stay.

A gorgeous spot

This house is MUCH nicer than the pictures on the listing show! Because of the price and more outdoor pics than indoor I thought it might be a little more basic but it definitely had everything that our whanau needed plus more! Tinopai is a gorgeous spot - I love birdwatching and had no idea that this had such amazing birdlife so it was a real bonus for me. The kids loved it. We really appreciated the little notes on the DVD's and my eldest is now hooked on Bear Grylls. We had a wonderful stay even during the cold of Winter, I can only imagine how lovely this place is during Summer.

The back in Tinopai had an amazing view over the Kaipara Harbour. It’s a simple and basic place to stay, but that’s all the more charm. Good fishing with an all tide ramp nearby.

We are a retired couple. Over 20 years ago we built our bach. The land was covered with young gum trees about 6 ft high. We never knew if we would see the water or not after they were felled, but we did! We have a lovely view. It was a long process of building, just on weekends, we'd bring the materials up on a trailer and work doggedly, staying in the little caravan you see out the back. We so much enjoy sharing the fruit of our labours.

Why they chose this property

Pat always wanted to build a bach. We tried to find section on the east coast but the cost was astronomical. We could afford this land, and we are glad we chose the west coast.
